What a delightful podcast! Your French accent is a pleasure to listen to. I can really relate to your acquiring your kryptonite stash and trying to focus on using it up. Best of luck to us all!
Bonjour Isabelle! Je suis Debra from Toledo Ohio. My stash is ever growing but you know, there are worse things to collect! I’m so glad I’ve found your most enjoyable podcast!
Bonjour Debra, I am very happy you are here and look forward to talking with you ❤️ Of course, there are worst situations, and the most important is how you feel about it. If you are at peace, perfect ! I was not, and still am not, and slowly get to my oldest stash. You know, yarn is sneaky and finds its own ways to make it to me 😺 Happy little stitches over to you ✨
I've knit both Yara and Mare - both are quite the journey! I ended Mare after the first colorwork section, so it's more of a scarf size and my most worn shawl. Like you, I'm currently knitting from stash (well, except for Sotabosc). Since I also spin, more yarn comes into my life every day from the wheel. Now I have to be careful about my fiber stash too! Here where I live in western New York state, we're in the path of totality for the 2024 solar eclipse on April 8. Apparently, thousands of people will be converging in my rural county and all along the path - it's crazy. I plan to stay here at home and quietly observe and watch how the animals react. Thanks for your beautiful words at the end - I wish you peace and joy as well.
I’m catching up on answering the comments ! I was is the total eclipse path in France in 1999 I think. Quite impressive, it went dark, cold and all the birds stopped singing, my very old dog got afraid and went inside the house and I understood how some ancient cultures would worship the sun ☀️ A very unique experience, I hope it will go smoothly for you ❤️ I will be careful with Yara, it does look impressive. Yarn has a sneaky little mind of its own 😺
I have to admit I got a fright when I started playing this video, Isabelle. I thought you had relapsed badly and bought Holst Garn now. :) I am so glad it was not true. I was also tempted by this brand around the same time as you, due to the pressure from videos on youtube (I do not use Instagram), but as I had other financial priorities I did not give in. I did buy WoolyKnit cones over a year ago, when they had a nice sale on, but I have been knitting with that wool so it has not been sitting in my stash (unlike other yarns I have bought, which have not been as lucky...) I think next time your video has some outtakes I will not be drinking water. :D The two definitely don't go well together. Looking forward to your cast-on with Holst!!! Be safe, Isabelle! Lots of hugs from stormy Ireland.
Thank you dear Magda, I promise I will try to be better and not have any outtakes 😺 Glad you have beautiful yarn to knit with, it makes it easier not to be tempted ❤️
Good luck with the Yara. I have quite a bit of Holst Garn myself. All my yarn makes me so happy. I often go into my bins and bins of yarn just to look through them and make possible plans. I really am trying to not buy so much these days but then I decide I need to make a shawl for my godmother and I need a special color for her so there I go! Or I’m knitting a sweater for my husband for his birthday and didn’t have the right weight or color for that! I’ve made the Mare by Natasha and it is beautiful-a present for my sister. Now I need to make it for myself. Nice seeing you and hope to see the Yara on the next podcast!
Oh may be not on the next one, I have the Oatfield sweater I’d like to concentrate on. Then, yes, with the socks along the way. I know the feeling of day dreaming about next projects with our stash. Commit to one pattern made with stash, then you are free for the next one and so on maybe 😺
Coucou Isabelle, Thank you so much for your smile and your strength! I'm still trying very hard not to buy yarn...Bonne journée et un tout grand merci!
I also have a ‘stash of shame’, I bought 12 skeins of Linen Quill to make the half triangles wrap, made 1 and now I’m over it lol (there is more yarn but we won’t talk about that) Isabelle do not fear you are definitely a good influencer ❤
Dear Kathryn, I guess the warmer days are perfect for Linen Quill light tees or sweaters, if you are in the northern hemisphere of course ! I kinda got tired of mine too, and it was too heavy. I reclaimed the beautiful Ulysse from De Rerum Natura, and I need to do something with it too ❤️
Great video. I tried no buy yarn. Use stash only. So then I bought more books and some yarn. Seems to be a constant struggle but fun. The outtakes are so funny.
@@isabelle.duchatelle I am working on Norah Gaughan’s Barnyard Guernsey pullover in a wine red color. I’m also crocheting a half circle shawl with leftover yarns. The other 2 pieces- an Easy Goes It shawlette and the Piece and Love vest by Bruna Curtosi.
What a beautiful vest and bow combination - it looked designer intentional to me!! I loved the ridiculous comment in French, merci!! I am currently only knitting from stash as I 1. Have more than enough yarn to last me a a while and 2. Am moving… I would feel ridiculous purchasing something which I then have to pay to move😅. Happy knitting to you!
Thank you very much Rebecca, such a nice compliment ! You have a good reason not to buy to much before moving, may be extend it until you really have none of what you need in stash. This is my goal.. Maybe unrealistic 😺 Happy knitting and happy moving, à bientôt ❤️
Love the outtakes 😂 so funny. I can’t wait to see you knit up the Yara. It’s such a beautiful, unique and timeless item. I’m so happy you’re getting to wear your repurposed vests. I’m still anxiously awaiting you to wear the yellow one. No pressure 😊.
I, too, have a number of digital patterns that I have never started. They do make me feel a bit bad, but I know some will be made eventually. I also have a lot of yarn, but mostly gifts or reclaimed from thrift store sweaters. Yarn definitely comes my way, but usually not in large (sweater) quantities. I have received a lot from friends who have skeins they will not use, as they know I am a relatively new knitter and as a caregiver for mom I have lots of time and a lot less money!
Hi Isabelle. Loved this podcast as always. I think the Yara will be very beautiful in the colours you have. It is a joy to shop your own stash! Good for you. ❤
@@isabelle.duchatelle yes Isabelle. I am knitting from Stash. I just finished a Coorie in Poncho from Amy Palko with Holst supersoft wool and Holst Titicaca alpaca in Venetian red which I bought when I bought the pattern. It is beautiful. I am now working on the D’aisi from Natasha Hornby with malabrigo susurro in the colour Tortuga. I bought that Yarn when I bought that pattern as well. I also learned to spin in January and have spun a merino silk blend for a shawl. I think I will make the Migla by Inese Sang. I bought that fiber in May 2023 so I could use it to learn to spin. Spring is here and we have goat does who are expecting babies. So we are watching them closely. These are our first goat babies (kids). Also am busy planting seeds for our vegetable garden. They won’t go in the garden til end of May but we need them started now. We will be shearing after babies are born and I have to get that fiber processed. Have not done that before. I am doing research now. Happy Knitting.
@@jennifersteeves910 Oh, so inspirational ! I love everything by Natasha Hornby and Inese Sang.. Are these mohair goats ? I went to a sheering day a couple years ago in the summer time (the goats stay inside during the nights and colder winter days, they sheer twice a year) and have no idea how they proceed after that. I know they manually remove the vegetal and other materials from the fleeces, then send them to a mill - every other year to meet the requirements. I’d love to knit a sweater from one of my goats if I had any, my cats do not produce enough hair even for mitts 😺 Edit : typo
Yes they are called angora goats and they produce mohair. I will be manually processing some of the fiber. Washing myself and then drying on screens outside and then combing it with wool combs. I will also be carding it with some Babydoll Southdown wool from my local area and also some Gotland wool from my area. I am going to be trying all sorts of mixes to see what I like. There is a small craft mill local to me who I am talking with. I will see if they can do some yarn out of the mixes I like. We will see. If it turns out, I will send you some of it. @@jennifersteeves910 Oh that would be so lovely Jennifer ! You really do not have to do that ❤ In any case, I am not sure I will be able to drive to the two mohair farms I love, one in the Pyrénées (10h drive) another one in Poitou (4h drive).
