I was rejected in 2016.. I applied in 4 med schools in Croatia, since I am Croatian.. Year later,I tried again and I got in all of the med schools in my country. Three years later, here I am pursuing my dream to become a doctor. I am now starting third year of med school and I couldn't be more happier than I am for all the things that happened to me. I believe it is a good thing that I got rejected that year because it really made me think about my goals and it made me even more determined and motivated to become something that I was dreaming my whole life,a doctor.
For all of you out there who were rejected, try it again. A year, two or five are nothing contrary to rest of your life. Good luck to all of you!

Age 18 is not mature enough to apply to med.school. Personal statement/volunteer work are important too.My daughter did undergraduate-bio med.firstly and she did army cadet , helping old people homes, serving foods to homeless people, and volunteer work at Nepal/ Borneo. It was so bitter/sad experience for her to accept rejections and she tried to make a new start again and again. We cried lots too. However she got into med. school 2yrs ago and now she moves to 3rd year. Everyone can make it . Never give up .

Thanks man, your video is really inspiring. Seeing how you get back to your feet motivated me to start again. I got rejected for this year’s entry (2019/20 cycle). My UKCAT was actually quite well according to my peers. In retrospect, I think I was bound to be rejected by all 4 medical schools when I applied to Oxford, Barts, Dundee and Leeds, coupled with the fact that I’m an arrogant ass. Now I’m trying to work on my personality, be less of a know-it-all and be more humble. Hopefully I could get into medical school this time around.

Thank you for sharing your story, I think it's very valuable to med hopefuls! I got rejected from med out of high school (Aus) in 2014, so I did a BSc, then wanted to see medicine up close, so I did a masters in nursing. Pretty quickly realised a) I adore healthcare and b) I was far more curious about what the doctors on the floor were doing than my own training. I'm applying for med school next year.
I definitely don't regret how long it took me to realise I wanted to do med after all. It's only by being a nurse that I realised what I truly want out of career, and medicine is that, even though I've seen first hand how arduous, stressful and sleep-depriving medicine is. I've gone from socially anxious and awkward in first year uni to relatively easily talking to and caring for vulnerable strangers going through their most challenging days. Doctors and academics have told me they think the grad pathway to med is better than undergrad because students are far more mature and have handled more of life and its trials. I've also been told many times that the best doctors tend to be nurses, so that's a plus. For me, medicine is the only career that makes sense to me. I've also finally done away with the concept that I hammered into my own mind that I'm not good enough. So I think I'm truly ready to try for med. Fingers crossed!

Hello, this has been truly inspiring for me to ready. How did you go with your application?
I’m also in Australia currently syudying an bachelor of nursing and midwifery and learning more and more of how interested and passionate I am about going into medicine. I truely relate to your experience. I’m in second year now and trying to get in through the undergraduate route (cause it’s an open door for me soo I was like why not take it). Every t8me I’m onward I find my self looking out to see the medical doctors work, read notes, etc. This is my third time trying, ready to persevere however long it takes God willing.

I enjoyed them and felt that I was confident in putting across my case. However, I’m taking this opportunity to take a year out and work as well as gain some experience. I was rejected in med school in my country because I felt like med school was too big for me and I had my doubts on whether or not I'd be able to work as hard as needed to make it through, I ended up not prepared for the entrance exam and failed. During my gap year I learned German all by my own and prepared for the entrance exam and this time I made it! Now I'm on my third year of studies and doing pretty great! I was surprised by the amount of learning hours I can pull and how with every new subject that I learn I feel like completing a missing puzzle piece in my knowledge. The very best thing that I was told is that other people that were rejected got motivated by my willingness to pursue med school and didn't give up on their dream either.
MED SCHOOL IS HARD but if you're willing to spend years of your life to learn about new things and use your knowledge to help others in need, then definitely GO FOR IT!

Rejection is definitely a feeling which everyone can not take or accept it. It takes a lot to allow one self to believe in the saying what ever happens is for the best. Sigh. Being a CA student I have closely witnessed things on this line if not rejection but yes failures despite all the hard work and when you see some one easily crossing the threshold of merits if i may say despite NOT working hard I guess one breaks there. But of well, life does not come wrapped in beautiful sheets, it is incomprehensible at least for me but the key to survive in this battle is just belief, hard work and let go. Sorry for the rant and lovely video. keep up the good work!

hi, I just wanted to let you know that I am very inspired by your story, I spend my whole high school years studying sciences, so when I didn't get into biotechnology (I expected it) I decided to spend a year to retake the selectivity exams here in spain, I even thought about doing a two year degree that would make it easier for me to get into biotechnology, but for my mom, that wasn't a choice. She forced me to get into college no matter what. the result is, I had to leave my beloved sciences and get a degree in marketing, that instead of 4 years took me 7 years!!! in the end, worst choice of my life, but my dad just passed away and my mom was really controlling, I didn't have the support I needed... I still regret it nowadays. I'm about to turn 28.

Hey ! A few days ago, I just learned that I failed my exam to enter Vet school.
Feel disappointed, and so I went to see your video ! It was my backup video, in case I got rejected and well here I am
I'm pretty sad that I got rejected. I work for it, and yet, at the end of the year I'll not be in a vet school
But looking at a bigger picture of my year, I do feel proud of me, for all the work I put in this year.
I'm proud because I grew so much in just 2 years.
So, for now, I'll rest. I earned it. And next year, I'll take on that exam again, and make schools rushing to me haha !
Thank you for this video Kharma ! Sending you much love.
I'm really proud of you, because I've been watching ur vids for 5 years, and now, you're a fine doctor !!

I'm here because I just knew that I wasn't on the acceptance list of medical school, neither dentistry. It really is devastating to see how all my efforts, my parent's, all the money (they don't have) they spent on me to prepare for med are ALL WASTED. It is even harder to see your friends and peers' names on that same list. I'm considering a gap year, but only god knows how much I feel sorry for my parents, and how much this rejection is killing me.

By getting rejected the first time you grew as a person and piled on experiences that would help you in the future and make you a better doctor. I see that you are studying for the USMLE. Are you planning on coming stateside for residency and eventually to practice medicine?

You were allowed to resit an exam but you had to do it in the summer so you passed before your next year. I think if I was able to resit the year and it's teaching, I would have had more chance of passing the 2 exams I failed the 2nd time around.

I can totally identify with your story, i will comment mine in the hope that it may be helpful to someone. I lost four years in medical school because I had panic attacks and could not take my exams. They were very hard years, where I suffered a lot and I wondered if I really wanted to continue on medical school. When I finally finished my career and started as a Rheumatology resident , everything made sense. Each difficulty, each fear, gave me resistance, patience and courage ,things that are crucial now, because as a rheumatologist I face challenges on a daily basis. I can assure you that everything is worth in the end, being able to get up and move on is indispensable in this profession.I´m sorry for my english, Im from Argentina. God bless you all.

I’m short of words.. is all I can say. May Allah reward you for this. I’m going through the same things for two years since I completed my undergrad. Got rejected for the 3rd time and I took it really hard this year. I was in loooong depression after the exam and I lost the track. I lost myself, lost my confidence, It was miserable. But then I thought to myself that its not how things are done. If you really want something you gotta work for it and stop thinking like this is the only time I can get into medical schools I talked to people who took gap years. Pushed myself out of it.. I started working in January 2020 took out my books and this time I was sure what I had to do because One thing I realised in this whole period is that I wanted to be a doctor and that was something i was sure of. Alhumdulillah, I’m done with 40% of my preparations right at this moment. my test this year for medical school is in August, I am sure to get selected this time. Thankyou for this video.

Everytime i feel like its all over for me, i watch this video..literally just this one single video (downloaded on my phone). Nasir,im not joking, youve saved me. And you arent even a doctor yet! This video might just be just another upload for you but you have no idea how many times i've watched each second of this 12 minutes and 12 seconds of this precious video. I know this sounds really cheesy and this comment is super long but the best part about this channel is that you actually give individual attention to your subscribers (kinda something we all will miss once this channel hits it big...it already has anyway). Im going through probably one of the most toughest times yet of my life and it feels like theres no escape because just about everyones doing better but me. I feel like an absolute failure. I got 4 rejections which was the maximum medical schools I could’ve applied to through UCAS. I only had two weeks to prepare for the UKCAT, I had no prior knowledge of what this examination was or what it was about. I used your videos and preparation advice, I got the average score. My personal statement was pretty decent but I didn’t make the UKCAT threshold for one of the schools I applied to. The other three told me my bachelor’s degree wasn’t equivalent to the minimum standard requirement. I graduated from the University of The Bahamas. They were impressed with my application and referred me to do another BSc in Biological Science. I was really discouraged and heartbroken, it took me a while to look into other plans and execute them. Rejections can really be a downer especially when you try to put forth your best always but, it encourages you to never give up and help you realize your reaction to failures (which is inevitable) is what molds you.
