Yeah I'm 46. I own some fast stuff including the 2020 V4R. I just bought the black tour. My only complaint is the Top Speed limiter at 112. Other than that... It's a fucking water bed on wheels. It's lovely.

100%. Congrats. That sport mode is a ripper. This bike’s a Lexus LS 500. It ain’t your grand daddy’s Gold Wing now. The horn is one of my favorite items, crazy loud. The handlebar switches are backlit for night riding. The exhaust note sounds like a Porsche. Checkout Gold Strike for LED lighting accessories. Enjoy. Ride safe and ride often.

Wish you had not gotten rid of your Valkyrie, Smitty. I’m gonna miss you having it and your videos. I bought a 2018 GoldWing Tour manual (blue model) in January of 2020 when they still had rebates. Added a 2015 red Valkyrie in October of that year. Love them both.

Just got the exact same bike about 2 weeks ago .. just learned yesterday that you don’t need to slam the side bags .. just hold them tight for a couple seconds and they’ll catch.. I switched out the shortie windshield for a standard Tour one .. love that much better

@@BigSmittyRiding I found it on another 2021 Goldwing owner's RUclips vid .("Jeff" I think) .. on mine, I just hold the side bag snug for a couple of seconds, and then I can hear it latch .. I knew the way I was doing it wasn't correct

@@BlazinBlades I think that’s just my camera and the color settings on it. Honestly it’s the same as the standard 2021Wings, but you’re right it does look different in this video…

Funny intro - I actually did that to my mom when I was a teenager, peeling off reasons for something she was asking me about and I was trying to make sure I didn't end up with the middle finger showing, but I goofed and that's what happened. She didn't appreciate it. "White New Balance shoes"... Hilarious!
Some dumbass crashed into a power pole in my neighborhood last night at midnight, and they didn't restore power until 8:30 this morning. You have to be a total F-up to crash into a phone pole. Luckily I bought a whole house generator years ago. That thing is a godsend.
Love that fat ass rear tire. My CTX has a monster rear tire and I always wished they'd have put that on the Valk. I think I heard a while back that that wishbone suspension had some issues that Honda took a while to fix. I hope for your sake they have. I LOVE those thin grips and would love to replace the grips on my Valk with those. They're like what's on my CTX and I really like them. Plus they're a little rubbery, whereas the Valk grips are more plastic-y. Do you find the mirrors easy to use? My CTX has low mirrors like that and I bought bar mounted regular mirrors before I even rolled off the lot. Much better for my purposes. Having the mirrors higher enables me to keep a better eye on what's going on ahead instead of looking down.
Nice Gold Wing key fob! Classy. The bags - I am not crazy about side opening bags because stuff tends to flop out when you open them. And they just seem more vulnerable to breaking. A small complaint. That's how my CTX bags are. But that smooth action is nice and prevents some of that flop action. That seat looks cozy for both rider and passenger. You'd think Honda after all these years would engineer that back rest better, but they seem to overlook little details like that in every model, right? I thought that plastic cover was some kind of small compartment for cables, documents and other stuff. Disappointed it's just styling.
1833 cc? So they added another cc to this? That must be why it feels faster! And did I hear you say the word "refined"? That's what old men say about scotch. Badass bikers don't talk that way about their bikes. Unless they ride Gold Wings, LOL! Just messin' with ya. Man I dig how they hide those passenger foot boards out of sight when not in use. That's sleek as hell. That retractable windshield is just cock. Gotta love that. And I note some outboard shielding on either side of it. I see it was 96 degrees when you were filming. Brutal here in Virginia too. That generator was handy to have last night for 8 hours of no power to keep the AC on.
At 8:13 - "It's about to get dirty"? What was that??? Oh that's your Bluetooth name, I guess? It looks like your left mirror is extended out of its housing. Maybe that's just an illusion. You're going to replace the exhaust to give it more "grunt"... Maybe you'll get back some of that street cred that way, LOL! I am not crazy about having to push a button to open a latch to push a lever to get to the gas cap. I don't understand why they don't just put that system up top. Now that I think about it, I don't really like having to bend down and use a key on the Valk.
I don't care what anybody says about the GW being for geriatrics. It is BAD ASS. There are a few bikes that will outrun it, but for what it is, it is unmatched. I always remember an old Fiat commercial back in the 70's or 80's, which described one of their models as a wolf in sheep's clothing. That's what the GW is. That's what the Valk is. People have no concept of "What Lies Beneath". And hell - why NOT be comfortable and have all the comforts of home when you're riding? I always worry about the speakers on these bikes. After years of hot, cold, humidity and dryness, dust and insects and rain, I have to wonder how they hold up. Even indoor speakers in a climate controlled environment get dry rot. I would freak if it rained on my CTX and got those speakers wet.
Well, I'm very envious. Velma was a smart move for you, if a move had to be made. She was the only ACCEPTABLE move. Are you going to remain active on the Valk forum, or are you moving on to the GW forum and leaving us behind? And holy SH*T, Batman! You went from 537 subs to 558 in a week. You know, there has yet to be a week in which your subscriber count actually went down, and this was one of your biggest jumps. You're unstoppable now!

It’s a great bike. I love it so far. The grips are too thin for my bear paws so I ordered a set of Gold Strike grip covers/replacements. I also have a backrest and Highway pegs on order! The pipes aren’t a must but I’d like a little more sound. And I have all the street cred in the world!!!

hey smitt, I like the recent vid you posted! doin ur thing, quick question, where do you see the vin# written on the GW in general, is it by the forks or frame on a sticker? any points on this wld b appreciated! thanks!
I believe it’s on the right hand side of the bike at the passengers floorboard. There’s a plastic piece you remove once the floorboard is down and the vin number is stamped behind that cover. This is for the 2018 and up Wings.
I’m not sure about the older wings but I can research it. May be in the same spot but I’m not sure.

@@dadwithabike it really is. I did that 530 plus mile trip 2 days after I bought it and was amazingly comfortable the whole time. Just needed Highway pegs. Beyond that it was great.

I wonder why Goldwing has nice colors for F6B and regular colors for the Goldwing. Either black for manuals and red for automatics, as for the F6B, this is a really nice bike.

@@HARMARSCH2 thank you very much. Yeah, I don’t know if it would lower enough to be comfortable. I have a friend around 5’4” who rides a Honda Rebel 1100 and loves it. That could be an alternative.
I didn’t go through all the comments to see if it has been said already, but to close the saddle bag, don’t slam it, lift the door from the front, not the back. And simply press. It will close really easy. If you look inside the bags you will see the metal latch that holds the door closed. That’s were you want to press. FYI I’m only 37 and love mine. I also have a 2021 rebel SE, 2021 Tenere 700 and a 2021 XSR. It’s not an old mans bike. Only cruiser guys have said that to me, which is funny because Sport bike riders consider cruisers old guy bikes.

I can't wait, been without a bike for over a year now (first time in 21 yrs) and am really starting to have a hard time not buying something! I got to test ride the GW tour version a couple years ago and loved it, but I prefer the non-tour version. I am still alittle torn between the new one and the F6b just because I like the idea of being able to store my helmet in the saddlebag on the F6B and I am not a fan of too much electronic distractions! It will be one or the other though!

I hope they make bigger hard bags. Not big enough for my needs but i love that bike .
They are pretty small and the side opening bags suck. It’s one of the few things about the bike that bugs me. They hold a fair amount of stuff, but being a bit bigger and top opening would definitely help. Thanks for watching.
I gotta say whatever your using as wax or polish is working great what is your process
So honestly I just use a basic car wash soap and then I have a spray on synthetic wax I use. Cheap stuff from Walmart. Seems to do the trick. It’s the Ice brand synthetic wax. Thanks for watching!

Also heard a funny comment about the Gray in our bike .. don't get me wrong, I LOVE this color .. especially the combination of the Gray/Black/Orange together .. however there is something about the Gray that I couldn't quite put a finger on, and then someone described it as a "primer" gray .. that's a pretty good description

That’s awesome! Good luck. It’s the stock Honda backrest. My wife likes it. The driver backrest was on back order so I went with Utopia. But there are other options for passenger backrest as well. Thanks for watching!

Not at all. The DCT is cool and a lot of people love them and swear by them. Personally I prefer to clutch and shift on my own. It’s a preference thing but it’s just not my cup of tea. 31! I wish I was still 31! Thanks for the comment and for watching!
Does the manual have reverse? Picking up mine next week the 2022 only have DCT for the standard, had to find the 2021 for the 6 speed!

Had to pass on a comment I've heard about my Wing that's the same color as yours .. stopped in Clear Lake, IA on Labor Day and younger guy said he never thought he'd ever be interested in a Goldwing, but is now with the 2018 redesign. And he said he'd never seen our color before .. told him it was new in '21.
Yeah, theses bikes are great looking. I’ve had several youngsters tell me that the new Wing peaked their interest. They do look good and I agree, this color scheme is great.
My new Wing is my 3rd bike with the Electric Adjustable Windshield.. wouldn’t get a bike without it

I’ve gotten used to the pegs but I put Goldstrike pegs and they are a little wider. But I’m looking at mini floorboards. It really is an awesome machine! Thanks for watching!

are those side bits on the dash alright to read? or bit of a bitch when suns behind ya?
They are easy to read. The glare can get to you I noticed but if you lean forward a bit even in direct sunlight you can see them pretty well.

Smitty I'm on the fence - Tour model or standard. Really don't want the Tour for day to day riding but worried about storage on a standard Goldwing so here's my question:
If you were going on a 7 day road trip tomorrow, how would you pack? Those saddlebags aren't very big
I’d put a passenger back rest on and strap my big travel bag to it. I use the saddle bags to hold tools and stuff for the road. Travel bag for clothes and personal stuff etc.
The Tour is still very manageable around town. I’ve ridden one and they aren’t that much different than the standard. I’d tell you to just buy the Tour and enjoy it. That’s just my opinion. Thanks for watching and good luck! Let me know what you get!
@@BigSmittyRiding sorry after watching this video I saw the video of you on the road trip. What kind of bag is that you used on that trip? Big square looking bag. I just like the look of yours so much more than the Tour.
@@txman951 I have an older Saddleman tall travel bag. The new ones are much better and have better tie downs. I use a barrel bag to carry extra stuff, like my camera and so forth, when my wife rides with me. It works well for around town and small trips. Check out the Saddleman bags and Kuryakyn has some really nice travel bags as well.
