Great review! I do have the JV Oud and D & G mysterious night and love them both. I do wear a fragrance if I like it irrespective to designer or niche and in my opinion these are extremely well put together, reasonable, wearable and of high quality!

Love the John Varvatos collection and like yourself not so much with the Jonas line but they tried to appeal to a different crowd. The OUD has a great smell and love the dry down although it comes out much better when first applied. Going to try these others. As always you have the ultimate best reviews and save me a ton of money

Dolce&Gabbana Velvet Desert Oud has a wonderfully dry, dusty leathery take on a rather toned down Oud. Worth sampling. Dry down has a significant leather quality to it, and i might categorize it as a leather scent rather than an oud driven scent.
i don't have any oud fragrances. I'm researching and sampling. waiting for versace oud noir and m7 samples in the mail now. Your video very helpful.

I just bought and tested Chopards Oud Malaki, it's a nice scent but not much oud, but on my skin it's a skin scent within an hour, and longevity and projection is weak on me! Maybe a reformulation as it was hard to get for a while, and then it showed up on every discounter with a lower price! So I sold it, I bought it for €41 for 80ml!

Your take on MIB Black Orient vs OG MIB is spot on! Agree with you 💯. Just last week I compared them both side-by-side. BO to me is the winner smell wise. OG did better performance-wise, though.

Oud smells like very old aged wood, when wood gets to the state near the end of its life, before it starts to rot, it releases very strong potent dense woody essence, thats how I would describe it. Should definitely have at least one of them in your collection.
I can kind of see that. But there is something else, I don't know anything to compare it too, there is a sweetness i think. I really love oud.

I think living trees probably contain anti-bacterial and anti-fungal compounds and are very resilient. That'll be why bees collect extrusions from them to make propolis. So I'm guessing it's fungal infected dead wood.
Bottled Oud delicious apple pie at the cabin in the woods, if you like Boss Bottled this is a must
Just the video I was looking for. As my fragrance collection grows, I'm getting a little bit of every category. But I don't have an oud fragrance yet. And most of the ones I hear get recommended are niche, and I have not leveled up to niche yet. So this is great.

Black orient is fantastic. Beside smell, it also performs better than standard MIB.
Chopard oud Malaki and Chopard Black Incense Malaki are great! i don;t understand why it took so long for so many reviewers to try those and see the quality they have! I think the first who discovered and presented this fragrance was that guy from FragReviews and after that maybe Sebastian from Smelling Great Fragrances...

Great vid Ash, I can attest about Gucci Intense Oud; I had a sample a while ago. From experience it’s certainly divisive but the compliments that stuff pulled was truly frightening with some great reactions. Only thing from preventing me from pulling the trigger is the word of reformulation. I really need to try it again!
Dude, Gucci Oud Intense completely saturated my shirt with that epic smell ! Months later and after washing it of course, I can still smell it on the shirt and in my closet 😊!! Its the $240 price that kills me rn 🥴🥴
@@ascott2168 Distribution had been patchy for months on end. Picked up a bottle for $95 about 9 months ago. Looking at those prices now I’d say that remaining stock has been completely depleted and is deffo discontinued. Shame for such an awesome frag! Honestly just 2 spays from my bottle get me 24hrs projection and compliments! Beastly stuff!

@@cristianzeitgeist2405 I haven’t taken delivery of the Chopard Oud Malaki yet, I ordered it today -a blind buy. I love the M7 so much I purchased a second bottle. The M7 is a great wearable scent with an air of high quality. I’ll let you know my opinion of the Malaki when I try it out.

Lookin sharp there, Ash! I love many of the scents you mentioned here...Man in Black Orient, Boss Bottled Oud, etc. I also love Franck Olivier Oud Touch. Really surprised me for such a cheap fragrance. I don’t get much Oud from it, it’s like the fragrance whispers the word “Oud” as you’re wearing it, but the caramel sweetened smoky incense and rose is really nice the 30 bucks I paid for a full bottle. Anyway, be well Ash! 👍
Have you tried Franck's Oud Vanille? I have both Oud Touch and Oud Vanille, but I love the wafts of OV I catch when I wear it.

Have you tried any of the genuine Arabian Oud's from the middle eastern houses out of Saudi Arabia, UAE etc? Things like Majestic Special Oud, Aseel, Kashmir, Kalemat, Arabian Knight etc. I recently dipped into the Oud scene when the "Arabian Oud" store opened in NYC (they have online orders as well). They tend to be on the pricy end ($200-$1,500) but unlike most of the western houses, they actually use real oud.

Versace oud noir isnt that bad, just tried it- and i kinda enjoy it myself. How are the tumi colognes they have one called continuum, that was hard for me to grasp at first but its growing on me

Versace Oud Noir was my first oud and I live it!
I can't convince myself to like it for some reason and I see little resemblance to oud wood I don't get it...?
@@nickmeyers7879 they are only very subtle similarities. The composition doesn't always work well with people's skin so it probably comes off poorly on your out of bad luck.
@@sorrym8421 yeah I remember it smelling like moldy old clothes or something just sprayed it and now it smells like sawdust and rather pleasant I'm gonna give it a few more chances you can get away with a lot in cooler weather too

this is very rough, but very addictive at the same time
the main things I get are:
cinnamon, oud, leather in the opening
oud, incense, amber, leather, rose in the drydown
this is not a fragrance to go heavy with - it projects like crazy and lasts very long
you can get this around 20$ and it's a steal IMO
Lattafa is very under rated! they have many hidden gems, price performance ratio is out of this world!

Might try Mib Oriente because I love the original, if I can find it but unfortunately I'm yet to find an oud accord I like as much as the real thing. ( unfortunately because its bad for my bank balance ).

Ferrari Essence Oud is a nice underrated oud. More rose than oud but still nice and strong.

Any thoughts, anyone, on Gucci Intense Oud being marketed by Gucci and described as unisex? Is this just because anyone can wear whatever they want (which I agree with btw)? What I mean is, the general consensus seems to be, from what I am hearing, anyway, that it leans towards the more masculine side; I mean, it's being mentioned on this list, right?
My mom loves the smell of Issey Miyake Pulse Of The Night (I know it's not Oud) and also Amouage Jubilation XXV Man (I can't remember if that has Oud). She said she would wear them both; she wouldn't care what anyone thinks.
Before I spend over a hundred notes on a bottle of perfume for her Christmas, though, I'd like to know whether other people would consider this fragrance as a genuinely, or traditionally, unisex fragrance.
Is it actually a little bit more 'feminine', or maybe 'lighter', smelling than the (marketed as) 'men's' fragrances in this list? Or would you put it in exactly the same category or type as the men's (e.g. could the 'unisex' label just be Gucci's attempts to aim it at more potential customers)?
PS: Yes, I'm saying she would wear a fragrance that's marketed towards men, so she probably wouldn't care either way, if she liked it, but it isn't her that's wondering about the answer to my question; it's me.

Those into oud must, & I emphasize, must try oud from Middle Eastern houses. Occidental houses are still not oudy enough compared to Arabic houses.

Can anyone tell me, is Gucci Intense Oud reformulated? Because I have this Gucci at home and his batch code is 01/2021 (made in France) . I do not detect raspberry at all. I heard that a lot of people find raspberry in this Gucci. So i suspect he is reformulated.

Gucci Intense Oud goes rancid on my skin for some reason but the opening is great.
So far Versace hasn't failed me. Want to try their OUD.

John varvatos oud is nice, i love it, but i couldn't detect the oud, i smell the other scent but not the oud, it is one of the weakest oud in my collection, but still a nice scent
I was about to pull the trigger on a bottle of YSL M7 Oud Absolute, from Harrods, today. I was told, however, that the newer clear bottle is trash compared to the black bottle release. Any truth to that?
