    I think (could be wrong) that the sound card bandwidth depends on the sound card you have. Most are not 192kHz. Also, I think it needs to be stereo input, and a lot of usb sound cards are not stereo line in, but mono. Again, I could be wrong. You have to verify by testing.

      You could be right. I pinned the comment in the event others don't have the 192000 option. Thanks!

      You're correct. You usually need a higher end audio interface. There are some stereo line in sound cards but most are mono mic inputs. However a sound card with a line-in is usually stereo.

    • @jolebole-yt
      @jolebole-yt Год назад

      Most USB sound cards nowdays are stereo and the sampling rate is typically 48khz unless you have a high end sound card.

      Yes , You are right . Always It has to use a soundcard with two-channel input and availability of 96 kHz or better 192 kHz sample rate ...

    Great video, thank you! Just one thing...... at around the 9:05 mark you noted the IQ Out EN somehow went back to the default mode. What really happened is at 2:44 your hand touched and moved the VFO knob. Instead of using the + or - to make changes, you can also use the VFO knob to scroll through them. Just an FYI. Thanks again for this info, it worked perfectly the first try! Bob, W0BNC.

    perfect vid - followed the steps and it works - i can confirm the issue of the sample rate is card based and all you need to do is set windows audio setup to the highest available and then match that in HDSDR

    HDSDR always shows a peak at the center. You can supress it; go to options > calibration settings, then to tab DC Removal calibration for RX. Here write 50 in the field "Bandwidth [Hz]:" and select IIR-Highpass (Auto). This works for me. 🙂

  • @SDR-DXobserver
    @SDR-DXobserver Год назад

    Use this software with an off-centre offset, so the carrier in the centre is not influencing the received signals. You can tune this in the software for less impact by tuning the I and the Q signals for synchronicity, but you will almost never get rid of this. The better option is to use SDR-console v3, which does this automatically and even better.

    • @SDR-DXobserver
      @SDR-DXobserver Год назад

      SDR-DXobserver, Which input do you use in SDRconsole? I asked Simon, and he replied that he did not know if it is possible to use SDRconsole for this specific task.

      I don't think your correct, I think the IQ is just "always on" now, they only removed the option to "turn it off" which was pointless anyway 🤷 if I'm wrong, one could always roll back to an old Firmware, but yes, Xiegu keeps fucking up the firmware 🙄@@HAMRADIODUDE

      I like SDR Console a lot and has built in server so I can use the radio remotely on another Windows machine, for RX, I get exactly the same SDR experience remotely as I do from the main computer. SDR Console can TX too but not sure what radios are compatible for this.

  • @RobertLeeAtYT
    @RobertLeeAtYT Год назад

    Is there a way to stream the IQ samples out over wifi or usb? Can someone point me to a hack? I’m thinking about buying this radio as a cheap rf frontend to gnuradio backend. i want to do some spread spectrum experiments.
    What doesn’t make sense to me that the iq samples is already available to the sdr. Why go through additional step of converting that back to analog, squeeze that down a limited bw analog audio channel, only to be resampled back up to iq?
    Also, just because you can configure the pc’s sound card for 192 kHz doesn’t mean the radio is putting that out over analog audio.

    • @HAMRADIODUDE
      @HAMRADIODUDE  Год назад +1

      Hi Robert. At the time I finally decided to get rid of the radio, xiegu had removed the capability for IQ out. Horrible decision on their part. Since getting rid of this radio however, I'm on certain whether or not the features available again. Everything I see kind of says no. Sorry to be the downer.
      Maybe there's a workaround, this radio is just too pieced together for me

      @@HAMRADIODUDE that's a marketing mistake. It's not as if their non-Chinese customers can replicate the hardware at Xiegu's price point. Opening up that HW for end user tinkering means free engineering NRE.
      Hmmm. I bet they are worried about counterfeit and copy cats from other Chinese manufacturers. Karma's a bitch, eh?

    Most PC mic inputs are mono only, but HPSDR requires IQ "stereo" inputs. Are you sure this works properly using IQ sound outputs on a PC SDR? Also, the IQ bandwidth from the radio is likely something less than 192K....have you checked?

    • @HAMRADIODUDE
