Caroline this is Michael Brady. I’m a general contractor from South Florida. I have what’s called double insulated bubble wrap, I use this stuff across my windshield and side windows on my tractor trailer. The R-value. Is 7.5 point. Which means if you place it over your windows. You turn the heat on for about 15 minutes. And the interior of your vehicle will be so warm you can walk around in PJs. Contact me young lady, please give me the dimensions of all your windows on your RV. I will make cutouts of this insulation bubble wrap for you and send it anywhere you need it to be.

That's so kind! We all need to be kind to one another, especially these days. My dad and my sister used to live in Punta Gorda, Florida. It was so much fun! My almost bro-in-law was a commercial fisherman back then and we used to go out and fish for Mullet or my sis and I would get dropped off on a small little island in the middle of nowhere.

We're full timers also, but have been stationary for over 7 years here in NY due to my cancer diagnosis and battle. Now that I am finished with all of my treatments and surgeries and have been declared cancer free from my Oncologist, he has since released me. So we are finally free to leave. Funny you are headed to NM. We're going to Albuquerque (this Spring/Summer) for the dryer climate too. Can't wait to get there! Enjoy your stay! New Mexico is a beautiful state!

I always have to go and convert F to C. Lol! 24 is warmer than -5 C here in Canada. We spent one Canadian winter in our Jayco trailer and did ok. We skipped using the propane (damp heat) and used an electric heater. Might be an option if you find yourself doing more cold weather camping. I do chuckle though. It's all relative and what you are used to. We have spend the winters at our off grid cabin in the Yukon where the normal temperatures range from -10 C to -40C, that's 14F to -40F. So fun seeing you ad Sadie play. We have just adopted an 8 month old Malamute cross who is such a handful! We are crazy about her already though and know she is just going to need a ton of time and attention. Safe travels!

Caroline remember heat rises drives that rig not only out into the sun but over a black tarp on the ground the heat hit the sun hitting the tarp will raise the floor level heat inside your rig. Also cover outside windows with black anything. Even dollar tree posterboard it will help keep the space between the posterboard and the windows a little warmer and when it’s that cold, even the heat from a candle can make a difference. Been there done that. By yourself to terra-cotta saucers for plants to sit in your oven even if you just turn your oven on for 30 minutes the terra color plant saucers will stay warm from almost an hour after the heat is turned off if not longer. Take a sheet from one side of the rig at the 4 foot level up to the ceiling at the other level so the inside of your rig has less space to keep warm, i.e., call it your inside tent

It takes a lot of time to give them what they need and I wish every dog in the world had dog moms like you. I have 2 rabbits and 2 Ball Pythons. I have a playpen that I set up for the Ball Pythons and I put different logs, cardboard boxes, fake plants, towels, etc. in it, so they get enrichment. I had a gun bullet hole in my roof right over my bathroom. I imagine it happened from the gun nuts who shoot in the sky on Labor Day and Independence Day etc. I asked at the contractor desk and they told me I would get better adhesion with another product - it was clear. I haven't had any water problems since then. I went everywhere on my roof and caulked all the screws, pipes, chimney etc. I'm glad I did this. I say all of this to suggest that there might be a better product to adhere to the roof in a wind storm or hard rain.

There are no other rational explanations for a perfectly round hole. I see no evidence of fireworks but I know there are lots of firearms that are shot off to help the hyper-masculine boys feel like men no matter how inadequate they might otherwise be. Running the propane stove is also making the interior damp, there is an awful lot of water vapor in propane. An electric radiator is great for heat when one has a hook up, they retain the heat and easily warm my "guest trailer" in a Maine winter. Snow free Arkansas looks rather inviting to anyone that has a yard full O' snow in New England.

Interesting, can't tell if your " glow " was from having your roof fixed, electricity for a while, OR, being so close to that Nuclear Reactor. Ha, ha. Um, I wonder if having a couple small ceramic heaters would help with heating. They could be strategically placed. The hook up.fee is better than paying fuel and wear and tear on a generator. I'm not sure what gauge wiring they use in RV's. I've thought about heating issues for different vehicles, cost, safety and maintenance. It would be nice to be somewhere warmer, and just open all windows and doors and let it rid itself of any moisture trapped. My opinion. Looks fun.

Roll down cuff of the outer sock to knot level. Heat in microwave about 3 minutes. place on feet along spine or wherever and it will keep you warm. It retains the heat. The outer sock can be washed in soiled. and provides extra comfort. I like tube socks best. use caution HOT .

Your windows allow the most cold into your camper so you should put bubble wrap on your windows, will keep the cold out & heat in, give it a shot.

Glad you’re finished with the roof repairs! And in your livestream, you mentioned that you were tired. When you talked about how much you play and work with Sadie, I did a comparison with how much you actively worked with Capone- that’s why you’re tired. Not that you didn’t work with Capone - it’s just that Sadie is still a puppy.
    You look so relaxed here

    • @CarolynsRVLife

Yeah, Capone didn't require nearly as much exercise and training and physical attention... not even as a puppy. He was always an old soul :-p

NOt sure if you are aware, but the FB couple "Dome Life" had their trailer stolen from an Arkansas campground one night this past fall. They left it unattended hooked up to charge battery and during the night someone took it with all their stuff. YOur nightime visitors may have been the same group. Just an FYI.

I have stayed at serval COE campgrounds and they are usually really nice and cheap! I carry a small ceramic electric heater with me that I plug in when I am at a Free electric site. This helps the furnace out and I stay a lot warmer and save on propane.

Maybe pick up some blue or green insulation board.
I have a 100yr old house and cover windows we don't actually use. Another really good insulator is BUBBLE WRAP. You can buy rolls of it. Works great !

Saw recipe you'd like. 1cup melted semi sweet chocolate chips. Then mix 1/2 cup pumpkin puree in. Mix really well. Bake. 350 watch so they don't burn around 9 or 10 mins. Will be soft and thicken up some more brownie like as it cools. Enjoy.

    Is this in Fahrenheit, Carolyn?
We’ve lived full time in a 27’ Class A RV (1987 model) since June, 2016. Prior to that, we used our rig intermittently for trips.
We live in the Canadian Coastal Mountains, where it routinely dips to -50°F at night in winter, and we’re nice and cozy. We use a Mr. Heater Big Buddy and a couple of small electric ‘spot’ heaters.
The electric heaters are two years’ new, but we find that they make a huge difference, which is somewhat puzzling considering how tiny they are, but we’re certainly not complaining!
We sit on the bed in our tee shirts and underwear most evenings, and we don’t need a duvet to sleep at night.
Before the electric heater additions, we used to wear warm, oversized sweaters or hoodies indoors, thermal underwear (without top pants), and fleece-lined winter socks, and we used one king-size, high quality duvet at night. We were still nice and warm.
We own -60°F rated sleeping bags, but we’ve never used them in our RV. We like to keep them though, as one never knows what’ll happen next these days, so we just spread them out on our bed, along with a few other blankets, as it’s a great place to store them and the bed feels positively luxurious! (I’m in a wheelchair, so I spend a lot of time working from my bed too.)
We’ve insulated our rig with full closets (clothes and linens are great, and they don’t get musty). We installed 2”styrofoam and Reflectix behind our bed pillows (and we have a bunch of those), and we lined the sides of our bed with old pillows in construction-grade garbage bags, right up to the window sill. I put a cover over those, which serves as a very nice ‘ledge’ for eyeglasses, TV controls, our phones, and anything else that’s not heavy. I’d send you some pictures but I don’t think one can post those on RUclips channels.
Where the dinette would be, and still is, actually, we lowered the table and stored everything we use under the seats, but we also insulated the large window with loose 2” dense styrofoam, and stacked all else that we use in the ‘box’ we created. It isn’t pretty, but it’s extremely practical, and we affectionately call it ‘The Pile’!😎
Up front is always cool, as we open the screened windows 4”on both the driver and passenger sides, because we use propane, and the heater’s up there.
We also have a GStove and a chimney hole in our roof, in case propane suddenly becomes unavailable. It kicks out a decent amount of heat and one can cook on it too, but we haven’t used it indoors yet, as propane is easier, and we don’t want to go back to chopping wood unless we absolutely need to. We’re getting a little long in the tooth for that much physical labor, but we’ll do what we have to if it comes to that, which is looking more and more likely.
Ideally, we would be touring in the Southern States (w/concerts and books) in the winter months, but COVID has taken that off the table for the past 2+ years.😕
As always, I enjoyed your video, and thanks for the ‘Flex Seal’ roofing tip. I hope it’s available in Canada!
    Love and All Good Things,
    Jesse.🌹
