I have to admit I was wrong about Nicole Kidman’s performance in the role. Seeing this, I can tell that she gives a spot on performance.
She was good at playing Lucille Ball. Lucille Ball was tough as nails in real life and Nicole Kidman captures that quality in her performance. Nothing like Lucy Ricardo. The thing that they got wrong with Nicole Kidman was the hair when she's Lucille Ball. Lucy never wore her hair that long. I found it distracting. Of course, that's not Nicole Kidman's fault.
It really was a fantastic picture. I highly recommend seeing it if you are an I love Lucy fan.

I watched, wasn't that impressed. I liked the 2003 made for tv Lucy movie the most out of all the Lucy movies they've done.
Anything Nicole Kidman touches she turns to gold.hopefully her next film she'll win an Oscar cuz she hasn't had one in quite some time she is quite a star beautiful wife and gorgeous mother.

I actually liked it. She sounded just like Lucille. She didn't really resemble her. Cuz Lucille ball was such a beauty. It's just when I saw Nicole trying to look like her I didn't buy it. But she sure as hell sounded like her and she had her mannerisms down so well. She did a very good job. And I loved JK Simmons as Fred. And the lady who played Ethel and the actor who played Ricky Javier bardem.
all the actors were not spot on physically but their characterizations were spot on
She nailed the voice. The problem with her acting was she didn’t capture the joy Lucille showed on stage. Lucy had the most expressive, joyful (or angry) face in TV history. It was impossible to replicate with the prosthetics

@@sydneecorbin2362 I think she sounds awesome as Lucille Ball but not quite while recreating the I Love Lucy scenes, which is what most are familiar with.
Desi’s voice is a little too deep but she sounds exactly like Lucille. Looks and sounds exactly like her. I wonder if they used some deep fake technique for the film.
Open your mind. They sound a lot like their characters.
It's kinda hard for suspension of disbelief when you have seen these actors in a lot of films. I closed my eyes because I knew I was gonna say the same thing. It's not bad at all. Especially Nicole. She nailed Lucille's voice I think
I think her performance as Lucy was fantastic but I think it was a miss on Desi. I feel like they could have found someone to somewhat look like him and sound like him. Desi is a handsome man and this guy is not even close.
He's handsome. Just a different type of handsome 😊. Desi was boyish, lighthearted handsome. Javier is ugh. I can't think of it. Lol, but yes, it feels like they are two physically different people. Javier is giving it his all, though.

Nicole Kidman is not herself in this film. She totally nails Lucille Ball's voice and demeanor as does Javier Bardem as Desi Arnaz. Spot-on.
Javier’s voice is way too deep but he nails the natural charisma.
I had the lowest of expectations going into this movie. I remember reading that Debra Messing was saying she should be in it. I have to say, Messing couldn’t pull off what Kidman pulled off in this film. It’s not just the broad comedy but the little nuances. This movie is great.
Completely miscast !
What gets me is they put in all these details--and their wrong! The episode "Fred and Ethel Fight" was in season one. Lucy's "red scare," was in season 3. The apartment set is perfect...but wasn't used until the end of season 2!
And the problem with casting someone to play Lucille Ball playing Lucy Ricardo is it comes across like they are doing an impression of Lucy. And Nicole Kidman isn't pulling off Lucy's subtleties well.

I don't care if they don't have exact resemblances to the very well-known actors they are portraying. This was oscar-worthy. They both managed to capture the essences of the Lucy and Desi. At least their daughter thinks so!

I think the comments here are a bit harsh. You need to clear your mind of any predetermined notion, think of it as a fictional story in a timeline where hot topics displayed on live television was a battle and a struggle. Filling the shoes of Lucille Ball and Desi Arnaz are next to impossible. I’m interested in the story, not the comparison, not the total accuracy, but just simply being entertained. That trailer alone was very entertaining, and I’m glad somebody made an attempt at presenting the story with relative accuracy. Obviously both of them are no longer around to get their proper testimony, and we are talking well over 50 years ago, or you could always go see another marvel comic movie for chrissakes! Thank God somebody’s doing something different for a change.🙄
I actually watched this show .They said this show and Mary Tyler Moore show were like a pioneer show not only for woman but because of Desi Arnez Jr.

Yeah, I’ll def give it a chance, and Javier is a good actor but I never would’ve known he was trying to play Desi Arnaz. He doesn’t sound or look like him at all, no charm, no flair

Because, Javier and Nicole are a bit older than I expected them to be bc I don’t think they’re supposed to be quite that age yet, in the setting of the film, is that right?

@@antoniosantorini9355 I looked at the dates. Lucille started the show when she was 40. ILL was only on 6 years, so yeah, I had a hunch. The actors for Being the Ricardos are a whole 10 ish years older than what they’re playing. I didn’t realize Desi was so much younger than Lucille!
