officially the most Beast drum track in the universe. they could re' release this album obZen with just Tomas Haake's kit, it would still be listening pleasure
This song is so freaking hard..... I've been drumming for nearly 6 years and this song took me nearly 2 years to learn. I know it now, but I can only play it for a couple mins before I get tired. Thank you Mr Haake for blessing us with your insane beats and superhuman endurance. Edit: I hope you guys don't think I'm bragging in any way shape or form, I'm just saying that it's impressive for Tomas Haake to be able to play this for 7 mins straight.
It took Tomas a long time to learn the song as well, even when practicing the ObZen songs full time. Even today, Tomas and the others in Meshuggah say that Bleed is an endurance test.
I can understand a world class, professional drummer playing this song for 7 minutes in the recording studio, the way I can understand a world class runner doing a mile 3:45. What I can't understand is playing it live in concert as part of full set - like running 3:45 minute mile in the middle of marathon.
cobrastriesand maybe running isn't the best analogy, since he isn't playing "harder" or "faster" during Bleed. He's just switching up his kick technique to where the feet kind of bounce off the pedals rather than pound the shit out of them.
Big Fun @ The Gallows That's really interesting, so he's using a slightly different set of muscles (muscles that most drummers wouldn't have developed to such an extent) in order to play this song?
The way Haake moves the downbeat in between those incredible double bass patterns is mind blowing.Keep your ear on where the snare hits and where they land and you'll see what i mean👍👍
it's nuts! until you listen to this like a billion times it is completely baffling... like an aural illusion... the snare kinda floats... sometimes landing (on purpose) like a millisecond before after or between bass hits.... after listening to this for like three months ...obsessively... it is still ridiculous and hard to comprehend... but it IS getting clearer. It kinda comes down to having to literally memorize every single bar to perfection... I still can't play one full fricking bar of this with any authority whatsoever lol... I really really want to be able to though... I'll just have to keep working at it for a few more years.... something has to eventually 'click'...
Saw Meshuggah live not too long ago as of writing this, even in his old age, Haake is still a fucking beast on the kit, truly one of metal’s most amazing drummers
Write "I bought a drumkit." on a piece of paper. Hang it on the main door of your apartement complex. Play this track loud over you HiFi system. Earn instant respect form your neighbours.
I’m attempting to learn it too and I would agree that the initial straight herta patterns are the hardest to line up with the hands. The end parts are physically easier but harder to memorize all the 7 5 and 3 variations in the groove
What an absolute machine. The lyrics he writes make so much sense considering they come from this drummer - pure raw unfiltered algorithmic haunted wrath. This might be programmed but he can play this live which is just beyond me.
Haake is the most real looking robot I’ve ever seen
Years of practice
Nah chris turner is a living robot
Chris turner is sick but without haake you wouldn’t have Chris turner.
I use this song as a warmup before I get into the real stuff like enter sandman
Discovering this comment 3 years after being posted. People are overlooking of how hilarious the sarcasm is behind it and I love it. 😂💀
Those kick drums are massaging my eardrums. I love it.
oh yh m8 O_O
Ikr!!
They’re massaging my prostate
@@goodbloke8417 😂 That actually made me laugh
nL Prodigy I feel things deeply😂
It's even more impressive listening to the drums only. Goddamn.
2:52. That simple closed hi hat is amazing. This song is so heavy it's ASMR.

The snare stays on 3 for most of the song. Like 1 2 snare 4
Wow after years of EZ drummer MIDIs here's the real thing!
Even in midi....
BETTER THAN ASMR
Are we sure this isn’t an Harley starting?
A Harley...Not an Harley...And it totally sounds like the most awesome Harley ever🤣👍
@@alexscott730 I guess Harley-Davidson Fat Boy idling.
@@Havok1199being coherent is important.
Your thinking about Hot for teacher, Van Halen j/k
Its way more consistant than any motor.
Best asmrtist in youtube right now.
And ever!

He's playing so fast that we can't even see him moving!
I showed this to my friend and all he said was “HOW?!”
That snare. My goodness it sounds like a gunshot. Chris adler has that same vibe.
Mike Wengren of Disturbed has an awesome snare sound too
Adler's drum sound is ass
@@irockmajorly stfu
@@irockmajorly Adler sucks

Lol 🤣
Hearing this live was like getting Liu Kang bicycle kick'd in the chest for 7 minutes straight. 11/10, would recommend.
That bass sounds like a horse running, insane!
Thomas is unreal, best drummer ever.
Wow I thought I'd hear the snare ghost notes he does throughout the song
He only does it live
That's what I came here for, but guess he only does it for timing when playing live...
I've always found it odd that he tuned his snare and kick higher instead of lower. It works though.
Ectoplasmic36 easier to play double bass with a tight bass drum head
Fair point.
High snares sound better, depending on the snare.
OH, SO THAT'S HOW HE GETS THE REVERB SOUND ON HIS SNARE!
Tuning your drums higher makes them cut through the mix better
Well, at least the title said what would happen
Still. You can never fully prepare
But can he play St. Anger?
Sarcasm im guessing lol
@ThisIsKevin That’s because no one else wants to
Tomas Haake will always be my favorite drummer!
The final part is the most insane
Actually the initial pattern is the hardest one. Then again, I am human.
I’m attempting to learn it too and I would agree that the initial straight herta patterns are the hardest to line up with the hands. The end parts are physically easier but harder to memorize all the 7 5 and 3 variations in the groove
I know this is only a drum track but did anyone else hum the guitars as they were listening to this? ❤️👍🏽🙌🏽💀
I love listening to this while Im working out on my forearms
Intimidating to even think about playing wether it's guitar or drums, fkn masterpiece.
What an absolute machine. The lyrics he writes make so much sense considering they come from this drummer - pure raw unfiltered algorithmic haunted wrath. This might be programmed but he can play this live which is just beyond me.
This is the real recording of Haake playing it
"Just another day at work" - Haake any day of the week
The groove it's sick! Congratulations! Few can execute it properly... ;)
It's the real drummer playing it, of course he can execute it properly lol.
WTF
Isn’t there supposed to be ghosts on the snare?
Maybe he only does them for live shows? Idk if this is the studio track...maybe he didnt ghost during the recording?
They are there, just very hard to hear over th triggered bass sound
There's probably a trigger on the snare that doesn't pick that up. He still does the ghost notes to stay in time.
The ghosts help with actually playing the song. Helps the body flow more naturally and whatnot
@@Salomon_G ghost notes aren't some random thing drummers do live. For most things, the ghost notes are PART of the composition. Like, what??
Timing and rhythm are two key components to this song
After hearing this I think he’s finally ready to join The Beach Boys cover band.
wtf Haake is from sweden
i thought he's from area51
If those drums were real guns... it would be a massacre!
Been trying forever to find the actual isolated drum track!
this song is a good warm up to play wonderwall
its like you taught Lars to use his legs
Now we need the bass drum isolated track
1:27
i hear the whole song
Haake doesn't have calves, he has literal bulls on his lower legs
missing the ghost notes on snare
Master!
I can play the beginning part of bleed at 110bpm…. Just 5 off 💀
he is a fucking magician
im hot for teacher.
That's done with a floor tom and kicks. This song is all kicks, snare and cymbals with lil fills here and there
With .75 speed you can hear everything
Brrrrrta, brrrrrta, brrrrrta, gah, gah, gah...
Bill Burr ❤️
Epic
2x speed lol
The only thing that he's ghosting is the cymbals. He never ghosts the snare.
Seth Hubbard He does in the live DVD. It's also clearly heard there.
John Bonham taught him how to do this... After all John is the Greatest of all time. 😂
Hehe.
Bonham is one of the great prophets of drumming, but Haake is basically drum Jesus.
Did they edit out all his ghost notes or some shit
like how...
I could play this....
.....If I felt like it.....
Inhuman
Is this human?
Programmed
Fake
Fuck you dumbass
Yeah sure its programmed but haake can actually do it with a real drum set (lmao replying on a 3 year old comment)
@@zrad3681 I think he is impying that this is not an original drum track from the song, but a midi recreation, which I think is incorrect too
