Did you remember to delete the parent constraints used to snap the offset groups and controllers into position? Or possibly your hierarchy of the offset groups and controls isn’t correct? I would advise delete all constraints on the fingers and then try again. Let me know if it still doesn’t work.
You are reaaaaaaaaaally good explaining this. I'm not English native speaker but I understand it and your steps are easy to understand. Thank you and I'll suscribe to follow your content. ^^ Thank you very much!
Oookay clearly there's something up with my wrist... When I parent the wrist joint to the hand group, it goes all skewed 😬 The rest of the tutorial is fab, I'm just not sure how to fix this
Hmm hard to tell without seeing the file - double check you’re selecting in the right order before parenting or that maintain offset is on if you’re using a constraint. Otherwise feel free to send me the file so I can have a look :)
@@HollysMayaTutorialsthank you for reaching out and offering! In the end I redid the arm, I think I had a bone I didn't freeze properly or a -0 value that kept making it flip. Thanks so much for your help and tutorials!

im doing the other hand for a character and when i parent the control it goes upside down because my y axis is facing down. How can I orient those joint correctly so that when I parents the control is upwards. Thank you
If you watch part 2 of the series it goes through how to orient the joints correctly and how you would set specific joint orientations to a specific direction: ruclips.net/video/rUXEz01b20I/видео.html
Followed your videos and you explain extremely well ... I got stuck on IK controller for the whole body setup .. like you did in the last ... For FK you created the null for all fingers and parent it to the wrist and for IK you oriented left wrist ik control to left wrist bone . Till here i follow the same for left and right hand and also for the leg , the problem is with the IK connection . How to connect in IK for the complete body rigging. In FK mode when i move the main spine then all controller are moving perfectly but when i switch to IK and try to move main spine controller then both left and right hand as well as the leg bone are not moving. How to fix this?
Do you mean where would you put the arm and leg IKs in the overall heirarchy of the rig? Feel free to drop me an email on my gmail address hollywattvfx if you need any further help and you can send a scene if you want to :)
@@HollysMayaTutorials yes I am confused about FK and Ik controllers arrangement... If possible then please upload a video of complete body character rigging.
I don’t have this video ready made unfortunately and I’m not in a position to upload one any time soon. Have a look at any cgi’s full character rigging tutorials and that should help you. Best wishes
You are a fantastic instructor. This series has been great!
Thank you for the amazing feedback! Glad it was helpful. Let me know if there is anything else you want me to do a tutorial on :)
Great tutorial!!!!
I parented the constraint to finger bones but the bones are not rotating as 9.19.

Comments like this mean so much! Thank you, I’m hoping to put out lots of new tutorials very soon :)
Awesome tutorials simplified. You're so great a teacher. Please help us with facial rigging PLEEEEASSSSE.
Thank you for the awesome feedback. Definitely need to plan the next rigging series but in the meanwhile antCGI has some amazing rigging tutorials
@@HollysMayaTutorials You teach in such a way that simplifies maya
@jamesolumeka6402 the best feedback ever as that’s my main aim! I love Maya and people find it scary and really it’s not.
@@HollysMayaTutorials I think starting an online character animation course would really be appreciated, though with a low fee🤣
Can we refixed the direction of the bone even though after binding skin?
Not really, you’d have to unbind and also a lot of your rig may not work too after
