Since this bracket isn’t available anymore I just used a 1/4” bolt (length doesn’t matter as long as it’s enough to accept enough threads for a washer and nut) and a nylon lock nut/washer. The motor arm has a hard stop built into the housing already so you need to mark where the arm stops on the opposite side. Do this while motor is still connected to the shutter assembly. You can move the motor arm by hand. Once you move the arm to the opposite end of travel, mark the position with a marker. Drill a 1/4 hole and put the bolt through the underside and the nut on the side with the mark. You have to drill the hole in a spot where the arm will hit the nut. Use one of the hex flat spots on the nut to align with the mark you just drew. Tighten it down, but not too tight to compress the plastic housing and break it. The nylon locking nut will prevent it from ever coming loose. Plug it back into the truck (just the motor only and not the whole assembly) and check your work. If all is well you can relocate the motor to wherever you’d like. If you end up getting a CEL use a slightly larger nut. All the motor does is check for resistance of the arm on each side during a certain time frame. Been driving like this for months and no CEL. **This is all assuming you have a property working shutter motor** Good luck with your trucks/cars!
I did a delete for my shutters, but it was different. Basically I removed the grille in the same manner, removed the shutters. Then once I had it out, I popped the plastic clip that holds all the shutters down, and just removed the inner shutters, leaving the top one and bottom one. Closed that plastic retainer that holds the shutters in place, and plugged it back in. With me still having one shutter on top and bottom, it actually is still working as it should. Just with less of them. No engine light either, so I just thought I'd give people an alternate option. Not trying to steal his thunder, but all in all, we achieved the same goal. Only mine required a lot less work and no drilling
For sure! Me and him went to North Star last month it was a fun night! I still have to post the footage from that day! Almost had this fat girl into the 7s with a canned tune! 👍
For anyone that doesn't know these are there for fuel economy by preventing airflow to the cooling module when it's not needed to improve the drag coefficient. Also, you removed all of the cooling seals which are attached to the Grille Shutters so it's possible that you actually made the airflow worse because now the air is able to travel around the cooling module instead of being forced through it.
Maybe I missed it and someone can help me out, why do I need to put the stopper on? If there's nothing for the peg to make contact with will it throw a code? Just seems like it would be a lot simpler to take out the shutter assembly and just mount the motor back under the hood as shown but without taking cases apart and drilling holes is why im asking.
Easy to install his kit. I also installed an additional transmission cooler just in case. But apparently the transmission heater is still keeping it hotter than I would like. Air temp today is in the 90s and the trans temp is about 220. Not sure if trans heater should be bypassed. It seems as though the trans manufacturer wants this thing to run very warm. If it weren't for the trans temperature I'd love this truck.
I'll definitely make a video on it but so far my engine temps have dropped drastically and my E-Fan barely comes on now. Boosted, If I install a E-fan and put a 185 thermostat and delete my shutters will the temps still rise to 220 before the e-fan kicks on, I'm trying to avoid a tuner until my factory warranty expires.
Hey Eric I think you would probably be ok except if you are stuck in traffic. If you turn your A/C on though you can get the fan to kick on. My fan barely comes on now though with the shutters deleted.
The guy that used to do it will ask you for 50$ USD, you mind as well go to a Home depot and buy a piece of steel bar or even aluminum, cut that the same size you need...you shouldn't spend more than 5$
If you run a lower temp thermostat for performance purposes your temps will stay in check and you can maintain a lower operating temp. Also we will be installing a intercooler for the supercharger so these need to be removed too.
I know this is years old and probably not as popular now, I seen a guy comment that he only removed some of the shutters and left a couple so it sees “resistance”. I did the same thing and worked like a charm. I left the top and bottom shutters and it leaves plenty of room for airflow. I believe it really isn’t reading “resistance” because of you look at top and bottom shutters they both have stops for each direction. So I believe it just reads where it starts and stops. Very easy to do. Just be careful with grill clips, I have a 2019 classic and they snapped right off.
I just ordered one from him. He was pretty quick with the reply. I'd try again. Maybe he was busy in life at the time like all of us do from time to time.
ANY ONE WITH THIS ISSUE PLEASE READ. I have 2019 Ram 1500 and the check engine light was on due to failed communication with the shutter system. The first dealer I went to said it was the air dam and replaced it and the harness under warranty, no charge. However, the check engine light came on again within minutes of leaving the dealership. They wanted me to come back for more testing but at my expense or use my aftermarket warranty. They charge $200/hr for labor. I made an appointment with another dealer that charged less and THE FAILURE WAS SIMPLY A BLOWN FUSE.

I end it up removing them too, since I'm using raptorliner to do grill, bumpers and sides i thought mind as well... Used some steel i had laying around the house, a few screws..done deal !
Anybody know the dimensions of that metal piece. Please lmk
So buying that kit from Jason it the ONLY way to get rid of an check engine light ?
doubt its the only way, but it probably is the easiest way.
Finally a video on how to delete this trash thanks brother
Thanks for the support man! Plenty more on the way 🤙
James people who race their trucks dont care about mpg. This is a performance mod. To each their own. 🤙
That little plastic control arm on the servo (or the servo itself) often fails, resulting in an undriveable vehicle. That alone is a reason to delete this junk.
James S right 😂
Can you make a video on how to take apart the interior to paint / wrap the chrome inside the truck ?
Yeah I might do the center console bezel soon!
Mine not open at all hhh and never see any check engine lights in dash anyway i wanna crash mine cus really disappoint me always the engine temp level up and down when goes 140km or more .
Why would you need to remove this anyways? It helps it stay warm in the winter and less drag on the freeway
Just for performance reasons to keep the engine cooler. You are correct though it definitely helps with what you mentioned!!!
@@BoostedMotorsports Exactly how is it supposed to help with performance considering reducing drag is a performance enhancement in itself? So really your reducing performance and thats about it. Oh and making it take longer for your truck to warm up in the winter, reducing the efficiency of the heater system.
If it's a racecar truck all that doesn't matter. Staying as cool as possible does. And when you add an intercooler you need fresh air flowing through it AT ALL TIMES. 🤦🏽♂️🤷🏽♂️
😂 Less drag on the freeway. It's a TRUCK,not an airplane. If you are so worried about drag ... WALK.
@@KingMrBigE😂 I live in Florida, not worried about cold.
will this work on a 2019 Ram 1500???
I haven't had a chance to look at a 2019 yet but let us know if you do Greg! 👍
Hey guys I been trying to buy one of these kits from Jason on Facebook but I'm not getting a response from him. Any way someone could get a hold of him?
I think he got banned for awhile but I saw him back online this morning lol
Thanks he got back to me today!
I just popped off all but one or two and it worked out for me
No thrown codes???
Can you just unplug it and light go out
Boosted, If I install a E-fan and put a 185 thermostat and delete my shutters will the temps still rise to 220 before the e-fan kicks on, I'm trying to avoid a tuner until my factory warranty expires.
Hey Eric I think you would probably be ok except if you are stuck in traffic. If you turn your A/C on though you can get the fan to kick on. My fan barely comes on now though with the shutters deleted.
Hi Where I can buy this metal piece please?
The guy that used to do it will ask you for 50$ USD, you mind as well go to a Home depot and buy a piece of steel bar or even aluminum, cut that the same size you need...you shouldn't spend more than 5$
Link does not work for part
Thanks this really helps!
No problem Scott glad you enjoyed the video 💪
Like these come on summer. Why u remove this??
I contacted the guy for the part to purchase no answer it’s been a week. Anyone else to buy it from?
Hey what year is your truck and hmm why does it have active shutters?? I live in Canada for 1
.
2013+ trucks with the 8 speed transmission come standard with the active grille shutters
Mine wont open grille dunno why always closed
Can you not just remove the fins?
What's the purpose for doing this ?
More airflow for performance.
@@BoostedMotorsports ty bud, keep up the great work
Great video brother!!
What's the benefit of removing this?
If you run a lower temp thermostat for performance purposes your temps will stay in check and you can maintain a lower operating temp. Also we will be installing a intercooler for the supercharger so these need to be removed too.
@@BoostedMotorsports what temp does the grill open at?
Tried the link, no answer.
What is the point of grill shutters any way?
More money for the builders and more control from the government.
Thanks. I wanna remove a couple just to keep the coolant a little cooler. But not interesting in doing as much as the guy in the video.
@@rickylee2477 yup that’s why I did it. Took me 20 minutes to just take the middle shutters out.
Why not leave the housing intact and just remove the shutter blades?
You could but I'm installing a procharger and I need to have the space for the intercooler. All that content is coming soon on the channel 🤙
That’s what I’ll be doing... if I wanted MPGs I wouldn’t have put off-road suspension on mine. We all got priorities....
Arizona Storm your happy with it? Thermostat and e fan too? I’m doing it all, seems legit.
Arizona Storm how did it impact fuel economy?
Arizona Storm did the same thing as yours, runs cooler, and didnt see any changes in mpg, went up 1mpg on highway,
What is the reason for deleting your active grille shutters.what do they do.
Here you go Rodney! ruclips.net/video/70lEkv1g2E4/видео.html
Why cant I just take it out. Or put it back together.
Nice mod but where I'm at in the mountians of SoCal it'd probably be smart for me just to leave'em on(winter time).
If your too cool to use Facebook how do you contact “Jason”?
Hey Luke you can probably get a hold of him on his RUclips page too! ruclips.net/video/Rf9eiCvb4T8/видео.html
BoostedMotorsports it’s on the way. Thanks for the assist!
@@lukepomerleau4653 what's the cost ?
Dodge Ram I think it was $25 shipped. Been running it since, no issues.
I need to do this to my Jetta 2015 need to code delete it
I’ve reached out to the gentleman to order one still no reply from him.
I just ordered one from him. He was pretty quick with the reply. I'd try again. Maybe he was busy in life at the time like all of us do from time to time.
With 5$ at home depot you could make it yourself..just saying
These things are just gimmicks to get you into the dealership when they fail. Good idea modding it, better would be deleting it.
😁
Yeah, and you can't buy just a motor or one shudder have to buy the whole thing, probably about 500. bucks
Why delete the shutters?
Cooler running engine. More power, less wear and tear.
Now...
Why would you want to do this?
2dthoughts if lower engine temps is more important than an extra 0.1 mpg highway
I'd like to see what your stock "sport" grill looks like with the active shutters removed. I too am going to be pro charging my 2014 and on the same page with doing what I can till it all arrives. Just wondered how it will look all empty behind the grill ;) love the channel btw. Everything iv seen you do so far seemes legit and well researched.
Thanks for your support on the channel! Do you mean the honeycomb grille or the slats grille? You can't see much through the slats grille but the Honeycomb grille looks much better now 👍
BoostedMotorsports I was referring to the honeycomb grill. Thanks man.
Why would I want to get rid of those shutters?
A better question is why would you want them?
Eli Hal . To improve air flow volume when installing the intercooler for the procharger.
Check out this older video I made about it. When you put a lower temp thermostat in your truck for performance these shutters cut off the airflow to try to bring your truck up to around 203*
Also with the procharger intercooler I will need to delete them to make room for that 😎
ruclips.net/video/AbqxQUWVrYY/видео.html
Yeah, I understood about the ProCharger, but what I was thinking about was for a person that doesn't have a procharger or doesn't want to put a procharger on their truck.
Warranty
Just wondering WHY you would do this??
