As a former RCNR enlisted man, please read the caption and you will realize this is Her Majesty's Royal Marines out of the UK performing at the Pacific National Exhibition in 2010 in honour of the RCN's 100th birthday. Canada has never had a Royal Marine band of this calibre. Go Navy Go!!
WOW This only took place 2 days ago. Congratulations to the poster it s a very professional production. I was there and it was a great show. The US Marine band from Hawaii, and The Canadian Navy Naden band were there as well. All the bands were great. Their styles were very different.
@Pre114 Its what they wore back in the Empire. Just instead of Red they are wearing black. And Canadians love their British Heritage so it makes sense for them to do similar things. Plus they are representing the Queen so im guessing the black is the bands colour around the world.
I fully understand the oath I am a member of the primary reserve here in Canada. I can tell you this, if Britain somehow did something Canada felt was wrongful NON of our troops would have a problem with fighting against Britain, NON. We are Canadians! It is merely a formality just like our Governor General.
It is 100 percent just a tradition and formality. Trust me, there are absolutely no troops in the Canadian forces who would have a problem fighting against Britain if Britain somehow did something illegal. Remember, our troops are Canadians! And they fight for Canada!
A typo can sometimes be due to a difficult combination of key strokes, exemplified the capitalized form of none. It is a difficult reach to make from the shift key to the "e" key. This means that yes, you can mock me for my small hands, but not my intelligence.
@paddy864 Careful there Paddy. When one looks down there nose, one intends to become crosseyed, then dizzy, and followed by an embarrasing fall. Is flummary really a word in the kings english?
@MrDanmeyers This clip was shot with my old camera which had some problems which were fixed later. Nowadays, I used a Sony VG10, all digital and perfomed beautifully.
The Royal Marines have the longest basic training of any military in the world. One tough group. In case some don't know, most are eight weeks than advanced infantry training. The Royals have sixteen weeks basic training alone.
Saw the Royal Marines and the Black Watch at the Inglewood Forum about twenty or so years ago when a lot of the British Military bands were still touring.
@RayVanEng And your camera interfered with the digital recorder. This is why it's all choppy and has split second choppy parts. This is why I continue to use my Camcorder.
Whereas there is no doubt as to the technical ability of the US Marine band I'm afraid I didn't like their display which I feel owed more to some Mid-West college "Marching Band" at a football game than to the Military Band of an élite corps. As for the tableaux of Iwo Jima at the end.,words fail me frankly. I suggest they get rid of the" flummery" and return to their roots. They could do worse than to model themselves on the RM Band in fact, impressively smart, dignified and superb musicians.
Well I'm sorry that you find my well-intentioned criticism to be nothing more than me "looking down my nose". That wasn't my intention and on re-reading my initial post I'm genuinely surprised that you think that way. I referred to them as an éite corps and noted their technical ability, I just didn't like their display. As for "Flummery", my dictionary gives two definitions, 1) A bland custard or pudding, especially of oatmeal. 2) Meaningless ceremonies and flattery. Take your pick?
The Queen would be split as she would be acting as sovereign of two different nations who were at war. Canadians swear an oath of loyalty to the Canadian Queen, who just happens to be the British Queen as well. Besides, as a modern monarch, she would stay out of it.
they never copied it from secret drum corps, they were doing that before they were a glint in the old mans loins, you will find it is part of the Beating of the retreat
You cut out the last half of that piece, "Gibraltar"!! Lame!! What else was lame was the fact that the host city's very own Military band was snuffed from performing a marching display.
Good band instrumentally, but the drummers are just for show. I worked with a guy who could do a full drum roll and wave his drumsticks like these fakers do. Of course he was of German heritage, but so is the Queen of England. They changed their name to Windsor during WWI.
Are you kidding? Have you watched RM bands before? This is the most cretinous comment I've read about RM musicians. Look on You tube for RM drummers. I hope your not British.
They still originally come from British lineage, the Stewarts ruled Germany under the Sachs Coburg name, the biggest myth in the world is that the royal family are\were German, ironically the German royal family was British.

Go Navy Go!!
i love that this video is forever here, i can always come back to it to feel some good old nostalgia
This is the type of performance that when you compare to the other bands...you can honestly say the Royal Marines totally rocked the show.
I cannot imagine what those 14 thumbs down folks were expecting....I find it difficult to fault absolute perfection.
well luckily now they've removed dislikes. which is stupid but hey what can ya do?
Just utterly, utterly fantastic 👍👍👍
Nothing like them. Never forget marching through the streets of Liverpool with the Royal Marine Band making us feel ten feet tall.
100% the best band anywhere hands down ......
Another splendid performance by 3 Commando Brigade's medical orderlies, drivers and force protection personnel; they can play a tune too!
Our Relatives from across the Atlantic!, they are spectacular!
No doubt about it 👌
all I can say is.."awesome"!!! WOW...the precision, movements, and the finale'..wish I was there watching it live..
Absolutely the best band anywhere!
Royal Marines band. The best!!
SIMPLY THE BEST

Royal Marines are class above all pretenders. They have no equal
This Band has Timbre seldom seen in other bands ,it is what makes it a great band and sought out all over the world
Bet they put in some long sessions square bashing. But it pays off. Superb Music. Fantastic marching. Nothing comparable.
read the tittle "Band of H.M. Royal Marines at PNE 2010", thats the U.K Royal Marine band preforming in Canada.
Great Video. Loved Gibraltar at the end. Brings back memories of SCSTC HMCS Acadia School of Music
The slow march is a hymn called "I Vow To Thee My Country"
I love that the Canadians wear the same uniform as the british.
Pre114 these are British
Wow. That's a heck of a band.
@Pre114 Its what they wore back in the Empire. Just instead of Red they are wearing black. And Canadians love their British Heritage so it makes sense for them to do similar things.
Plus they are representing the Queen so im guessing the black is the bands colour around the world.
Yeah true, but the Canadian armed forces are serving Her Majesty, along with Australia & NZ. Close connections
clarkiiboii09 Thank god they do.Great fighting men.Along with the Anzacs and the other Commonwealth troops👍👍👍
@citrixfruit That would be correct, as Jupiter by Holst is the tune for I Vow to Thee my Country, so we're on the same page
You are very ..very Welcome SIR!!
Best Wishes for you and and Yours..
Chris..Est Sussex..England..UK
Splendiferous!

Thank you, all. There'll be more from the Centennial Tattoo show. In fact, I am uploading two rigth now.
@ glenne001 the first march is entitled 'Soldier 'n' Sailor, Too'
It is 100 percent just a tradition and formality. Trust me, there are absolutely no troops in the Canadian forces who would have a problem fighting against Britain if Britain somehow did something illegal. Remember, our troops are Canadians! And they fight for Canada!
Jolly good, mates!
Brilliant! Have you got footage of the rest of the Royal Marines performance? Can't seem to find the whole thing anywhere.
A typo can sometimes be due to a difficult combination of key strokes, exemplified the capitalized form of none. It is a difficult reach to make from the shift key to the "e" key. This means that yes, you can mock me for my small hands, but not my intelligence.
Seconding benwong007...please what is the name of the opening march? With those spine-tingling fanfares and those complex tempo changes!
Soldier and Sailor Too.
An absolutely stunning performance! The best in the world.
William Blair not even close 😂
@@elitewolfzz567 who are the best then?
Yeah, but this arrangement is actually called "World in Union." The arrangement is by Trevor Brown.
@paddy864 Careful there Paddy. When one looks down there nose, one intends to become crosseyed, then dizzy, and followed by an embarrasing fall. Is flummary really a word in the kings english?
Have you posted the photos online anywhere?

The song during the slow march is called "World in Union"
@davidvo84 I saw this band on RUclips at the Edinburgh military tattoo of 1992!!!!!! and I can truly say that I am a fan of royal marines!!!!!!
@RayVanEng And your camera interfered with the digital recorder. This is why it's all choppy and has split second choppy parts. This is why I continue to use my Camcorder.

Maybe if you read the comments of the guy I am responding to you would understand.
What is the Navy Song? CJ
Depends on what you think wrongful is.
No tenor drums ?
Only when Massed Bands Beating Retreat, Concerts etc.
@citrixfruit Seems to be a slow rendition of "I Vow to Thee, My Country"
@ViDeOMaStErPaUl its not black its blue....a dark navy blue and only Guard No1 Dress that is red.
A typo, you judge my intelligence based on a typo. I know how to spell none thank you very much.

windows7rocks1 she doesn't just so happen to be the British queen 😂
Would this be because Canadians are so big-hearted, generous and, in combat, fearless? Relax, everyone, the answer is YES!
I do, it was a typo, ie I didn't hit my "e" key hard enough.
cool beans
Treaties will be honored deserters will be shot

please don't assume you speak for every Canadian troop there buddy, that's a pretty huge assumption. Besides it wouldn't come to that anyways!

@we3575 lol
9:08 They stole that from Top Secret :D (or the other way round)
they never copied it from secret drum corps, they were doing that before they were a glint in the old mans loins, you will find it is part of the Beating of the retreat
The Royal Marines Band has been doing this long before TSDC was even thought of.
You cut out the last half of that piece, "Gibraltar"!! Lame!! What else was lame was the fact that the host city's very own Military band was snuffed from performing a marching display.
But, you don't!
Boring. You want to see the New Zealand Army Band to see a performance
You do not have a musical ear my Friend.
You for real.
Ok if you want to see good choreography and entertained by a School/College/ Circus band then NZ are the ones to watch.

There is no such person as the Queen of England. I suggest you check your facts before you start making cretinous remarks.
What a Pish talker you are.
