I'm looking to add a 1.25" or 1.5" bypass valve for my above ground pool's solar heater. The solar heater restricts the flow which greatly affects the pool vacuum's suction.
If I connect the pump & pool jet to the two horizontal inlets and connect the solar heater to the bottom outlet, would the plunger valve allow water flow through between the two horizontal ones even when it is closed off to the bottom outlet? Or are ALL inlets/outlets closed off from each other when this plunger valve is closed?

I was looking to do the exact same thing. *If the horizontal ones are open always*, I think you'd want to put the horizontal ones connecting the pump and the solar heater and then the pool jet to the bottom outlet so you can stop it from going to the pool jet and force it through the solar heater. You'd have the solar heater outlet connect to to the plunger valve outlet with a T and then to the pool jet.

I just bought one and discovered that ALL inlets/outlets closed off from each other when this plunger valve is closed. So it unfortunately doesn't work like we'd hoped.
