How cute!!! How cute!!!! What an artist!!!!❤❤❤❤❤❤🎨🖼🎨
Love ur art. Looks like an adorable wren with that tail up.
I love this. My next bird. Second one in my life, 1st was the hummingbird. Your birds speak to me!!
Thank you very much. So glad you enjoy them :)
Oh my goodness! These cute bird paintings are so amazing! ❤️
Thanks. It's great you're enjoying them.
Thank you Peter, for teaching and sharing and investing so much time and talent in others! This is the one tutorial I was looking for with the style I had in mind. Enjoy drawing and life!
You're very welcome. Thanks for the great comment. Peter
Ok, as usual I'm a little late showing up to the party. This is such a great tutorial, where you show how the difference in value is so important. The bonus is your painting was created with such a limited palette. Painting/drawing the eye of your sparrow or any bird/animal, as a matter of fact, (imo) gives the bird life.
Thanks for sharing your innate talent and knowledge of sketching. It's always a treat to watch your tutorials.
LOL. I'm a little late replying :)
Thank you.
Thank you. That was excellent. Cute subject, subtle colouring and the shadow on the branch. The quinacrodone fuscia and yellow ochre mix was interesting.
That little Sparrow looks so real, thanks for sharing your talent.
+Isa Lawton . Thanks Isa. I must paint more birds. Peter
+Peter Sheeler Yes you must paint more birds. I'm a bird lover and watcher. Actually what ever you decide to paint is ok with me. I appreciate your talent. Thanks.
The way you sign is as impressive as any painting you do...
Youve been a shining light... thanks
Very kind words. Thank you very much. Peter :)
Thank you for these lessons Peter I find It frustrating how easy you make It look but It Is so hard to do, respect mate
+John Schofield . Thanks John. I've painted a lot of birds over the years. No idea how many. I can draw many of them by memory now. Peter
Beautiful bird painting, I loved how the bird gradually came to life. I have bought the materials now all I need to do is literally put pen and wash to paper. I am very inspired by your fabulous techniques.
+Laine Hadlow . Thank you very much Laine. So glad you are inspired by this painting. Hope you enjoy it. Peter
Love your bird painting, like watching the process you go through in your paintings.
+Adele Bader . Thank you very much Adele. I'm surprised how few bird paintings I've done. Considering how much I enjoy them. I better get to work :) Peter
I hadn't seen the sparrow! This will be my next attempt! Thank you so very much for sharing your amazing talent with us.
You're very welcome Barbara. Thank you :)
It is beautiful. Will love to try it. Thanks for the great video.
Lovely 🌼
Lovely and one of my favorite subjects! The eye was magical. Thank you! :)
+artgone country . Thank you very much! It's exciting when the eye is done. The birds eye and its shadow on the branch brings it to life. Peter
Thank you again for the clear tutorial. Your a great teacher and artist.
+Patrick Nap . Thanks again Patrick. This video was done a while ago. I hope it included all the colors used. Peter
+Peter Sheeler I'm getting ready to buy some paints and I'm wondering if the Ultramarine your using is the green shade or the violet ? Once again you are my eyes to the world of color.
+Patrick Nap . Hi Patrick. It is the green shade. Also, it would be best if you sent a new message instead of replying on an older one because it doesn't get bumped to the top. And i'd hate to miss it and not reply. Peter
Otra de tus hermosas manifestaciones artísticas. Eres un gran dibujante! FELICITACIONES Peter.
+Nélida Felizia . Muy agradecido por sus amables comentarios Nelida. Contento de que está viendo. Peter
Wonder-full, Peter!
Thank you very much Linda. Greatly appreciated. Peter
I love birdies and drawing them as well, but I could never just do it like you do with the pen. I always have to use pencil first although I don't trace but draw freehand as well. But to justget right onto it with pen is still something I haven't mastered. And I love sparrows, such a humble little bird barely noticed, maybe that's why I love them, every winter they get their wild bird seed on the porch. ;)
+Rita Barnard . Thank you very much Rita. There is no need to ever go straight to pen. For larger, more complicated paintings I always use a pencil. And yes, I am a big fan of sparrows as well. Peter
Just discovered your channel. Love your drawing technique and looseness. Can't sit to give it a shot!
Thank you very much Rita. I'm glad you found me as well :)
Thanks for the within the week visual treat, Peter.
This bird was beautiful. I haven't been into portraits, so am finding difficult to analyze the lessons. Your intuition is amazing.
Few things I noticed are:
1.
1. Use jagged line indicating texture.
2. Use reference photo if needed to get some details.
3. Finish the eye towards the end, covering your tracks and finishing the most important job of transmitting emotion.
4. Even while being tempted to create depth in negative painting the tree, avoid too much contrast so as to not pull the attention away from the bird.
5. The little projection under the branch adds interest, looks like a branch going in other direction.
I should stop with this. I must see this a couple of more times to pick your skills and mind read you :)
+Dheeraj Kattula . Thanks Dheeraj. It is interesting that all your observations are true and yet, I don't think of any of them while painting.
The little projection on the bottom was meant to be a water drop ;)
Take care my friend. Peter
I love your channel because you show how to do it. Also, what colors you are using. few people don't do it like you. I love it.
Thank you very much. Truly appreciated. Peter
I love watching you paint. Quick, neat, and detailed.
+Dan Butterworth . Thank you Dan. So glad you enjoy them.

Muchas gracias Marisela :)
Thank you Thank you Peter. I have been painting your work and the birds in particular have been requested by a sister as a gift to her kids. I look forward every time I am notified of a new video. Loved the butterfly too. Thanks
+Linda Donnelly . Thank you Linda. Promise more bird paintings in future. Peter
Wonderful!
+DESTON UGARTE . Thank you very much Deston. Peter
Me encanto!
Muchas gracias Magda :)
I really enjoy these and I do my best just for relaxation, involvement, and study...Do you do any Pen and Wash with water soluble ink? I am experimenting with Fountain Pen and Water Brush for this technique. While learning, keeping it as simple as possible...You are a great teacher, and a great "giver". THX!
+Dave Jenkel . Very kind words Dave. Thank you very much! I have used water soluble graphite and Derwent Inktense pencils. I would like to try fountain pens for the line variations. Might be fun to add a new dimention. Thanks again Dave. Peter
Beautiful
+Jacqui Pexton . Thanks so much Jacqui. Very glad you enjoyed it. Peter
Really nice.....
Thanks so much :)
Hi Peter, Another great Bird painting. When will I be able to buy this or another of your bird paintings?
+Craig Nelson . Thanks as always Craig. I am considering it for late in the spring. I will likely use Ebay to sell. You're a great supporter Craig. Peter
yeah...okayyyyy...
PS My primary school teacher used to make me write out spelling mistakes three times. Quinacrodone, quinacrodone, quinacrodone.
Quinacridone
It looks like you are pressing hard on the paper are you?
LOL. And a death grip on the pen A habit I simply can't seem to quit. Very hard on those felt tip Pigma pens.
Good n wàoo
+Shikha Jain . Thank you very much :)
,
And I still got it wrong. LoL
+Graham Heywood . Lol Graham. I don't know how many times I've typed quinacridone. My windows tablet still refuses to recognize it. Peter
