Want to know what it's like to have malaria?

Dr Rita Tewari heads up the malaria research labs at The University of Nottingham. She knows all too well what it's like to have the disease. She's had it seven times.

I had malaria and it is awful. I really thought I was dying. I got it when I was in Vietnam but didn’t get sick until I came home and left the army. It never returned since that time.

My grandad got very sick from Malaria in Africa at 31 years, he almost died from it but survived until 82 (died in 2006).
