    I’m glad I found a video that shows an inside cleanout in a carpeted room. My house was built in the mid 70’s we’ve only been in since 2019 and why are these inside a bedroom? Also the pipe access is a typical black huge nut to turn. I don’t have the Allen type cover you have. Could I just pour into the adjoining toilet which is about10-15 ft away from the clean out. The toilet pipe direction is flowing in the opposite direction from the street. Does this question make sense?

    Had my sewer backup the first time in 35 years. Mr rooter used root ex. I'll be doing that every 6 month's.
    Yes i had carpet in my basement. I'll be putting some other type of floor covering in instead. Don't want that to happen again.

    The optimal time to use this is right after you have snaked the sewer, cutting the roots, exposing the freshly-cut roots to the chemicals.

      I moved into a home in 2019 built in the mid 70’s.. I found a clean out in the basement bedroom about 3-4 ft from the enge of the house. It’s a carpeted bedroom. I’m thinking why in the world would they do that? The bathroom is about 15 ft away.

    Thank you, nice guy.
    I think I learned what not to do and how not to do it, but,...thats even MORE important overall,... because I surely would have made many of the same mistakes, except, ...not carpeting in a bathroom OR basement. It's still a good video based on what to expect.
    Thank you.

    • @thediydaddy2068
      @thediydaddy2068  Год назад

      Yes, sorry for the late reply. The instructions say you can put it in the toilet, but at a smaller volume of product, I believe. In my case, the roots are far down the line, away from the house, so I wanted to put it in at the sewer cleanout point in order to flush it far enough away.

  • @superviro

    Would it be easier to put 20 gallons of water in the tub, then pour the powder down the cleanout, then drain the tub?

    • @thediydaddy2068
      @thediydaddy2068  Год назад +1

      Good idea. In my case, the tub is a floor above on the other end of the house. I want to flush with a large amount of water from this access point where the flow will push the product sufficiently down the sewer line to get to where the tree roots intrude. Interesting suggestion, though.

    If your roots have just been cleaned out when should you use the ROOT X to keep them from clogging sewer?

    • @breebw
      @breebw 2 года назад +2

      The hottest driest period of the year. Putting it in, in cooler wetter weather will struggle to have any effect due to root activity.

  • @southerncomfort971

    curious what happens if you just screw the cap back on to stop the foam from coming back up

    • @thediydaddy2068
      @thediydaddy2068  Год назад +1

      It would just push the foam upstream and downstream in the sewer line. But in my case, I need to flush with a large enough volume of water to get the product down the line to where the tree is growing - about 80 feet.

    ...And boots where’s your boots!! Ha ha. Jk.. don’t want to get those socks wet.. anyway what am I to do now that it’s too late and the toilet is now filling up!! 👀👀 I can hear the glug gulg from the shower drain .. and of course when the toilet is not full I hear glug from there too. 🤷🏻‍♀️😔I’m trying to avoid the costly local Plummer to come and clean the line to the rd which is about 100 ft. I have this problem every year no matter what I do. Yes I’m single and no man in the household .. my dad always did these things. He’s no longer around and others always busy...Soooo I need a diy dad too or should I just move. ?? Ha ha ( I won’t be here next year ) but is there or are there any tips or tricks I can do or go get at the local hardware store to do myself. ?? With the pandemic and losing my job.. I just cannot afford to pay a Plummer to do the work. 😔 help? Is there something I can poor in toilet to get things moving again or suck it out with shop vac first? Idk I’m lost ha ha.

    • @thediydaddy2068
      @thediydaddy2068  Год назад +2

      Good thought. I have a semi-permanent bookcase on top of the carpet at that end of the room, so it wouldn't be as convenient for me to pull up the carpet. I was able to rinse off any excess and dry it with a towel afterward. Of course, you don't want a lot of this stuff coming out onto your carpet! Thanks for sharing your thoughts. And Psalm 84:10 - great verse. I love 84:11, too. God is a shield to those who love Him.

    I do not see this as effective as a multi blade pro clean out. At least not in my 135 foot to street alley house in Minnesota. As a DIY ,who knows might not get long term roots?

    • @ryancomer6416
      @ryancomer6416 2 года назад

      It doesn’t work, roto rooter use to sell and install it for the customer with a money back guarantee until they had over 250 customers calling and saying they had roots in their drains again after 8 months. They had to refund a lot of money, they stopped selling it because it doesn’t really work. You’re better off hydro jetting the main line, at least then your are root free for 3-5 years.

    • @thediydaddy2068
      @thediydaddy2068  Год назад

      Personally I had mine cleaned out when I initially bought the house, and I apply it as a preventative measure to kill off new root growth. It is a good point, though, if there's an active blockage, it needs to be cleared.

      This is not the bathroom. This is the living area in the basement. I am accessing the main sewer line through the main line access point, which is in our carpeted living area. Carpet in the bathroom would be nuts.

      Thanks for sharing your thoughts. I haven't had my drain scoped to verify whether the roots are gone. I think repeated applications deliver better results. I try to apply the product every six months or so. Some people may need to do it more frequently. I can say that I've run a snake and cutter down that line without any roots coming back up. I'm probably due for a scope, so maybe I'll get that done before my next application of the product.
