you could have just strapped WAZA headphones to it and made the whole signal chain wireless except for the ones in the voice coils
Cheers Colin, this made me smile. Fucking love this channel.
Colin, I think you and guitar maxx really need to do a video together.
Nice cracy guitar stuff there... but!
ugh... nothing against you sponsor sweetwater, but bose? sorry never! i'd rather go diy before that.
Still going through that "phase" at age 50.... :P
Not only that but you are shrinking in size. You are growing backwards and up boss. 😂
FUCK YOU GLENN!!!
And Merry Christmas! 🎄🤣🤣🤣
BOSS METAL-ZONE is not a "phase"
I came to say the same thing. I'm 43, and I have to hunt a BC Rich now, lol!
Same here at 45 !..!
At first I was like "that's ridiculous", but deep inside me, there is my teenager heart screaming "I WANT IT MOM!"
My first reaction was "I want it because it's some awesomely over the top."
Then the Metal Zone came out and I wanted it MORE.
You know your adult self wants it ok hahahaha
I am 26 and I would use this guitar.
Who in the hell needs to be a teen! I would love it myself. The more outrageous the guitar the more I usually like it.
@@nmccarrick that's because IT"S NOT A PHASE MOM!!!
Cutting into the body just to wire the metal zone made me feel an emotion that doesn’t exist
You could even say...An Unnamed Feeling?
Despair and intrigue
@@sleepdeep305 The worst Metallica album and a Metalzone, that's a real specific and truly horrific metal phase.
That hurt hard
My feelings towards transhumanism.
"What the hell is he milling out that rectangle for? Ohhh nooo..." and I was right
To say I wheezed when I saw the pedal go in would be an understatement.
Same lmao
Ashamed to admit it but the mods kinda slap. Let's say it's an appreciation of all the effort that went into the guitar and not a mental regression back to my adolescence.
I same and honestly I went through and found my first draft for my guitar build from when I was 16 and everything was the same minus the stickers and metalzone😂😂 I honestly would still rock that guitar though
It looks like something Max Cavalera would have played in 1988.
Kinda want to put an echo delay in my project Tele now...
@@matthewwelch9579 go for it dude bet it'll turn out well
@@VonOverlord Do people play metal on tele or strat? I’m not knowledgeable when it comes to guitars by any means but aren’t those for rock, blues, that sorta thing? I do like the warlock design though. It does look pretty cool
This is the "The Room" of guitars: so bad it's actually incredible
Ho hi Mark
😂
YoUrE tEaRiNg mE aPaRt LiSa
As a teenage metalhead, that guitar looks surprisingly appealing to me
I'm gunna make it
This looks like a guitar that belongs to a generic “death metal” band in a Toyota commercial.
what a non-metalhead thinks a metalhead would want
I'm just waiting to see BC Rich announce a "Colin Scott Signature Warlock" next year
hey I would put that right next to my Kerry King signature Warlock.
That tone is actually wayyyy too good. Not metalzone-directly-into-solid-state-amp swarm-of-bees enough
He forgot to use the gain as an extra volume knob too lmao
It needs to be played through a red knob Blue Voodoo head.
That’s because it wasn’t plugged into a Line 6 Spider on the Insane setting.
We're you in my highschool garage band? Lol
I feel called out.... 🤣
4:47 - "And for that, there can be only one solution"
Me: A Floyd Rose!!
Colin: *Installs a Metal Zone*
Me: Even better!!
Joke's on you. It went so far beyond cringe that it reached cool again.
I mean ur not wring
"I am cringe but I am free"
You need skull machine heads and black fret dots.
And other skulls on the saddle!
And the Swear word needs to be carved into the top of the guitar, and painted over with paint that glows under black light.
What it needs most is metal strings. No, wait.
It needs those kirk hammett skull inlays
@@Xero6969 you mean, inlays that look just like Kirk Hammett. With James and Lars at the 12th fret
I feel personally attacked...it took me ages to sell my 7 string Warlock last year
Maybe...
Just maybe...
You're not selling them cheap enough
@@fajaradi1223 I had two shops refuse to accept it as trade in at any price...they didn’t want them as they knew they’d struggle to sell them and second hand market I got zero offers at any price!
7 string warlocks are a rareity.im a owner of a platinum series warlock
@@camman9235 I have one too

I like the way you think
I have to confess . . . . . I think the skull motif hardware looks a bit of alright.
i did my mockingbird with the very same rings... they are soooo coooool!
I like it
I like the skulls but I would like it if it had
a lovecraftian version of it
There's so much cringe that I actually kinda like it. You are missing something, though...a Line 6 Spyder.
I was thinking a Peavey Rage 158....
How about a Peavey Calmness, or Peavey Mellow?
Ah, yes, one of the most crucial teenage metal ingredients. Preferably set to "Insane".
Yep. Unless you’re a rich kid it’s a Mesa Boogie Triple rectifier or Marshall JCM2000
Everyone has the right idea, but the wrong amp... Crate GX15.
I am a simple man.
I see spikes on a guitar, I click like and subscribe.
Good to have you with us!
9 months later and I reckon by now the strings have aged to the perfect level of "Dead rubber band that won't stay in tune" for a teen angst guitar.
It's missing a killswitch. Many teenagers' first mod.
Easily one of the most entertaining videos I've seen from you Colin. As soon as I saw the built-in Metal Zone I was howling with laughter while my wife was watching me wondering what I was listening to in my headset. Brilliant work as always.
I'm very glad I managed to keep the Metal Zone a surprise!
@@ScienceofLoud it's not like the BC Rich has a body that looks like such a mod would be feasible, so it's completely unexpected when it was done and it flipping worked. Also, your montage edit was brilliant in a "what the hell is he doing/no, he couldn't possibly be.../holy s#!t he's actually doing it!!" kind of way.
@@someguynamedrob581 almost exactly my reaction: “Hmm, random body chopping, more EVH than metal, but... hold the phone, the man has a Metal Zone, is he... yup, he is!” Active electronics to a whole new level! lol
@@someguynamedrob581 I was merely expecting some hugely impractical inverted crucifix. So imagine my surprise...
Forget your Fishman Fluence and your locking tuners, this is the mod project we really needed.
If you rearrange the letters of "Fishman Fluence", you get "CLEAN & SHINE MUFF"
Maybe it's a subliminal message

@@guitarsimon1 Heheh... well, my "third eye" stays very close down there lol
Unless I'm about to squeeze out a big ol' turd on the field 🤷♂️
I bought a B.C. Rich Warlock in 94 when I was 16. I would have loved my guitar to look like this. If I still had it I think I would want it to look like this now! METAL!
I bought my Warlock in 91, still got it, still love it!
True story,When I was a teen I thought at the time that Jeff Hanneman’s Les Paul had barb wire wrapped around it.I went out to an old wear house that had barb wire fencing and tore off some of the old barb wire to wrap around my Gibson/Baldwin Epoch only to find out later it was a chain on Jeff’s Les Paul. It looked cool but was a hazard to play.

@@fajaradi1223 Hopefully it’d be in its case in the parking lot, but I suppose it might not be... you raise a good point
When you added the Metal Zone you turned the guitar into an incredibly versatile instrument.

Nah it would need an hm2
Would Skwisgaar approve, though?
I love the choice of dad rock as a background track, as it's what anyone's dad would have played while helping you mod it
Your transition to the embedded ad was so good, I didn't even realize it was an ad for about half of it. I ain't even mad. Good job.
Teenage? I’m just a few weeks shy of 62, and I think that’s a hilariously perfect metal guitar. Great video, and Merry Christmas, Colin!
My thoughts exactly
Im hittin 56 this year and this video made me eye my BC Rich Mockingbird and go hrrrrmmmm
I'm born in the 60's , and I say: Nah , not metal enough !!!!

that is so insane! you must have had loads of fun doing this project!
Seeing the Metal Zone getting installed was the biggest surprise of 2020, and that's saying something!
I find it extremely alarming that I didn’t find the metal zone tone cacophonous and bad
@bodd boward fell bad i still use a spider IV 75w, now i regret getting the 75W should had gone for a 15w for my bedroom playing
Metal zone is good now. Everyone was just using it wrong
seeing as it’s already Christmas in Austtalia as i watch, this is a truly blessed present.
Thanks for the year of education, entertainments and putting back all the mids that got scooped. Here’s to the next one!
Many thanks Colin for all your hard work, bringing fun and informative content to the masses.
Hope you are having a good Christmas break.
Catch you next year :)
The title made me laugh: my first encounter with a BC Rich Warlock was when a buddy in high school picked one up as his first electric guitar. He loved that thing.
YES! HAIL SANTA!! \M/
Happy holidays, everyone
Spikes on a guitar, a dream of mine just came true . But you forget one last important modification, a killswitch button . 😂
THAT'S THE PERFECT GUITAR DUDE!
With every mod, the endorphins in my brain kept erupting to a new level on the Richter Scale until I couldn't comprehend anything anymore, I may have had a BC Rich Warlock induced stroke, a kind of madness when you think you just looked at the face of god but actually looked at the face of the devil and all reality breaks down into a black hole. I must have it.
Ah yes, the ol' Bronze Series Warlock. It was my first guitar when I was 11. I thought it was the coolest thing ever. 11 year old me was a dumbass.
I have one, I think its a great guitar and find it really comfortable 🤷♂️
No, you weren't. Maybe you are now for thinking that about a genuine 11 yr old. Cmon man, the little dude wanted to rock. What happened?
I’m 18 and I love my bronze series warlock lol
@@johnmoore917 im 14 and this is deep
It takes a certain person to make a Warlock work.
You, me, and everyone here are not in that category.
Talk to Steve Smyth, Mick Thomson, Blackie Lawless, or Lita Ford. Note I did not include Kerry King because he never made it look cool. His Jr Vs are pretty nice though.
This may be one of my favorite videos ever. The permanent Metal Zone is genius...and I'm mad about it.
Haha. Keep up the great content, dude.
the adds on this channel rival only with Jazza in the sense that I actually watch them without skipping. The metal zone cracked me up.Awesome video!
“No, Bro, the spikes and routed metal zone are for the TONE!” Would love to see a Viking themed guitar build in the future, keep up the good work! 🤘🤘
I actually laughed when the metal zone came out XD
That's the most insane, over the top, stupid thing you have created.
I love it \m/
One word! Awesome!!!
and incredible, amazing, fantastic...
(I guess that's more than one.)
I would love to see a collaboration between yourself and Daniel (Unquendor Guitars)
Like you; his creations are truly works of art, and I think with your obvious combined skills, you two would
come up with something extremely special.
I own (and obviously play) a Kerry King Metal Master Warlock, so this spoke to me directly. I love how over the top this is! great work!
Did anybody else go "Oh my GOOOOOD" when he dropped that Metal Zone in the guitar? This is art, my dude.
All these mods and still no black fretboard, what a waste :D
The overkill reference at 3:40 absolutely killed me. Good work, sir.
Laughed so hard when I saw that metal zone! Merry Christmas Colin!
If you're not bleeding while playing metal, you're not metal enough.
I got cut a few hours ago on my picking hand's index finger, does that count?
[Kyo has entered the chat]
This is exactly why I only let my mrs play a few days a month
“More than half my lifetime ago...” Yep. We’re old. 😄
Uh, I still play a B.C. Rich Warlock, lightly modified but I find it is serviceable and serves well to play anything I want to from sweet stuff to blues and metal. For all the crap I have read about it I still love it and remember letting a Les Paul guy play my Warlock, I watched his face go from amazed to very pleased. When he handed it back he said," Wow, thats a cool guitar and plays great.... but, I cant give up my Gibson." Then he wanted to play it again for another couple of minutes before handing it back saying "no, I cant."
Great video Colin! I might do a build like this soon also just for giggles. Did you get a new camera? The frame rate and quality looks really great in this video
Hail stan!!! Worship slayer!! Damned be mids!!!
You know Lucifer has a bit of a problem with the dyslexic part of his following...
Shoulda put a Kahler on it or something
next time...
Neck angle won't compatible without a ton of shims
He probably carved “bollocks” into the guitar
Ever since I saw your how not to dial in a metal tone video years ago I thought about putting a metal zone in a cheap guitar for fun. You did it and the result is just amazing 🤣. Stay safe Colin and happy holidays 🎄
I would love to see a full scientific deep dive about active pick-ups. I've always hated them, and I know you're also not a fan, you have some older videos on the subject. But a video on how they work could be great!
I love emg 89s they’re really smooth
@@AA-nb8vj I'll definitely need to look into them at some point. Smoothness has always been the thing I miss picking up Actives.
Looks more like a W.A.S.P. guitar rather than a teenager one.
5:18 The absolute mad lad
This is amazing, its so over the top I love it.
two things were missing, skull stickers on the inlays and a strap of bullets
I really thought you'd stop the cover right before third riff like most youtubers have done, but BROUGHT THE CHROMATICS
Merry Christmas!, may I know what swear did you engraved on the guitar?
Loved this video. I always wondered, is it possible to wire an overdrive pedal or EQ pedal directly into a tube amp? Like for instance, putting a Maxon OD 808 into a 6505+.
When you started routing out the room for the pedal, i legit thought you were going to add a second neck! xD
How did you get Clutch to do your background music for this video
hey colin do you want have a link to the skull stuff? really think i might put it on my black SG
liking the time marker on the bottom of the screen during the ad. it kept me from fforwarding
Me after he finishes one part of the construction: That looks pretty metal...
Colin: BUT THATS NOT METAL ENOUGH!
The pre-advert stripe box was a nice touch!
Just flat out awesome, the metal youngster version of myself that that will never disappear approves of everything except for actually drilling out, routing, and mounting that metal zone pedal.
2:17 loving that Skwisgarr/Toki voice you made when you said that.
Your impression of the Slayer solo is so beautiful.
I have that exact same BC Rich. I ripped the neck pickup out, installed an Epiphone pickup in the bridge, and painted on it. Namely, a Mythosaur Skull and a regular skull/smoke thing.
actually, in my mid 40's, without the pedal, stickers, selector switch cover and the winged skull on the bottom of the neck pickup ring, i love it.
I really didn't see that metalzone coming, had me rolling! Would actually love to hear this plugged straight into an effects-return, no preamp required.
That's exactly what you are hearing with the sound samples at the end
I've had exactly the same trus rod cover and jack plate cover on my 7 string BC Rich Mockingbird for about 15 years. They are awesome!
i cant believe you routed a metalzone in it thats just ... unique lol
the scull accessory look cool where did you get them
I saw you routing the body and I was thinking "wtf is he doing?" and then I saw the MT-2 and literally burst out laughing.
Well done.
Hysterical!!!! Although I was wondering if the last stage was going to be widening the neck to make it a nine string.
I am 35 and I unironically like some of those skull hardware pieces. I'd still rather have some Indra custom works though haha.
i actually want to know how you did the pedal thing i was thinking of making a guitar with a built in pedal for fun
I genuinely laughed out loud when the metalzone was brought into the picture. That guitar is one of, if not, THE most horrible metal guitar I've ever seen. Yet I know plenty of people who would have loved that thing like it was the most badass thing they'd ever seen.
It's only missing one thing though. Blood splatter paint job!!!
I am a hard man to please and a harder man to make genuinely laugh out loud but after seeing you route that body slot not knowing where you going with it and then slide in that metalzone made me die 😂😂😂 ~Steven
Glad to hear I built just the right amount of suspense to get a reaction.
@@ScienceofLoud please excuse me while I directly wire a metalzone into each and every one of my guitars 😅

Wow! really impressed with the MT-2 within the guitar!
It must be a little bit in the way when playing sitting down?
Looks like somewhere in the process of creating this abomination, he fell in love with it xD
I was dying laughing when you put the metal zone in the guitar itself.
As "that 80s metal kid", I loved this project! (My history teacher in high school referred to me as an "armpit headbanger"!) It looks and sounds perfect for this application!
What’s the Reverb link for the METAL SKULL HARDWARE???
I’ve got a teenage guitar student who would LOVE to have something similar done to his guitar!!
I was only casually interested at first, but when you wired in the metal zone I became invested for the long haul.
