Harbor freight had the ammo boxes last week for $3.99. You are absolutely correct about placing your battery in the box from the get-go. Also, I built my own Milwaukee adapter from a spare charger. I’ve also made a set of jumper cables for a quick and easy jumpstart that I have used numerous times on my work truck. Those jumper cables work like a charm. All of this was rather simple to build. People were blown away with the jumper cables and even more amazed at the ease of starting my truck. My wife’s $200 jump box does not have the power to start it.
Wow, that sounds like an amazing product! The Segway Portable PowerStation Cube Series seems like a versatile and reliable power source for camping trips and backup power during family outings. The massive capacity, fast recharging, and comprehensive protections make it a great choice. Plus, the waterproof technology is a bonus for outdoor enthusiasts like us. Thanks for sharing this recommendation!
Great Video. Gonna take your ideas and make some adjustments to my box for this winter - add the lights and 1 USB outlet. I installed the same 3A usb on the main boat this year, can’t beat the price. I also have my fish finder mounted on the box top and it tucks inside the case nicely with a smaller battery kit. I’d love a Dakota but a little too $$ at the moment. Nice Job!!
Thanks man! The dakota was from my old ice fishing graph. If I didn't already have it I wouldn't use it. I would use a drill battery. Best part is you can adapt these to whatever you use. Can customize.
The end product look just as good, if not better than, store bought equivalent. The wiring standard was probably much more robust and better than those store bought ones that are mass produces in China. if you did this as a side hustle I'm sure you'd do well, and the 36 bucks cost could half when ordering a heap of the components at a time. Great video, cheers from an Aussie in South East Asia 😀

You could buy lead acid to be "cheaper". I'd argue that a lifepo4 is possibly cheaper. You get a much longer charge/discharge cycle, and safely get 80-90 of the total capacity. Lead acid is only 50% of the total capacity.

A lithium power box for $36…. As long as you don’t count the single most important part which is the battery at $228 for the Dakota Battery. Why make a clickbait video?! I can build a computer for $4.. as long as I don’t include the price of all the major components of the computer… Jesus.
As the video says you can use any battery. You can also get an attachment to use one of your lithium batteries from your cordless drill. Dewalt, Milwaukee, etc. Almost everyone has that already. You dont need to put a Dakota Lithium as stated in the video :)
good video, but can't help notice all the aliexpress links, I hope everyone will do their best to not buy chinese sourced parts. please don't support the ccp or communism.
@@FoxFishing4K aliexpress just cuts amazon out of the middle man picture. Same country of origin.. With that said, I'd wager any of us would be hard pressed to find any of these parts made in the usa or another country of origin. It's just the facts of today..
I watched this based on the stated cost in that configuration. It was not true. Had to get to the end to find that out. You justify it by saying just use a drill battery. My batteries are over $100 now, for a better one. Then I can get an inverter for $35-$45. So don’t really need to diy at that point. Either way your video is inaccurate, at best. There are so many videos out there that between two similar ones I’ll choose the one that I feel hasn’t misled me. Sure this one viewer whining won’t matter to you, but remember that most people don’t say anything, they just don’t subscribe or like or watch more of your videos.
Battery costs more than $36 by itself. The title says "LITHIUM" battery box. Which specifies that its not just a battery box, or even a lead acid or AGM battery box, but a LITHIUM battery box. So where do you get such a cheap lithium battery to make the total cost come to only $36? Not happening.
If y'all are anything like myself, I keep on hand at least a dozen 18675, 3.7V. Batteries that I am always salvaging from old or dead electronics! You know like an electric razor, or anything that is wifi! I actually have 3 whole sets of electronics from Ear Buds headphones!! With a tiny tiny lipo battery and wifi circuit!! I also take any solar panels. Those are always still good !!
@@FoxFishing4K I understand the process. I was simply noting that you never mentioned what type of battery charger to use with it. If someone who doesn't understand LifePo4 batteries builds your project, (a very fine one at that), and tries to charge the battery with a standard power supply, car power socket or car battery charger, they will wind up with a pile of HOT orange goo where the battery box used to be and / or possibly even a very hot fire that is next to impossible to put out. Lithium type batteries are no joke and need to be used with care and respect. I was encouraged by your use of a fuse. I'm guessing by your accent that you are Canadian. A little tip for you and your fellow countrymen / women and my country people to the north of me. LifePo4 batteries can NOT be charged by ANY charger or solar array if the cell temperature is below 32 degrees F, (0 C). Permanent damage to the battery will result. it can be used cold but not charged. It must be warmed up first. I say this for someone who may go ice fishing and leave it sitting on the ice or may leave one in a car for emergencies in the winter. Larger higher quality, LifePo4 batteries for solar, marine or RV use have a BMS module or Battery Management System module built into them to protect them from overcharge, undercharge, low charge condition, (below 20%), short circuit, excessive high drain and high and low temperature conditions. It is not impossible but unlikely that your battery contains a BMS module and more likely contains just raw cells in a plastic box. This is not a bad thing but requires more care when charging. Other than this, it's an exceptionally well done project.

A lithium power box for $36…. As long as you don’t count the single most important part which is the battery at $228 for the Dakota Battery. Why make a clickbait video?! I can build a computer for $4.. as long as I don’t include the price of all the major components of the computer…
Jesus.
Most are the same parts that are on Amazon.
@@FoxFishing4K aliexpress just cuts amazon out of the middle man picture. Same country of origin.. With that said, I'd wager any of us would be hard pressed to find any of these parts made in the usa or another country of origin. It's just the facts of today..
@@skelafeti your right. I don't mind paying a bit of premium buying locally. But when stuff is $1 in China and $15 here that's brutal.
Why is your face in most of the video?
And you keep looking at yourself instead of the lense.
Way over explaining the process.
Good build though
Thanks for the feed back!
Not happening.
for poor as cheap people like me. you go to Google, and you find yourself 4 used headway cells. you pay no more than 4 dollars eatch for them.
$36????? Ummm the battery is like $40 or $50 by itself.
So you forgot to add the battery price?..so it brought up on the price
As stated in the video you can use a common lithium drill battery you already likely have.
OK, now what will you charge it with that won't set it on fire?
Need a lithium charger for lithium battery. Turn it on and connect charger to the banana plugs and done. Don't even need to open it.
Permanent damage to the battery will
result. it can be used cold but not charged.
Battery 25$ Lithium Battery 50$
You can use a drill battery you already have at home ;)
how do u recharge the battery
Connect the charger to the red and black posts on top of the box and turn the switch on.
