Definitely not the only one here who watched the Marty music tutorial and kept looking for a lesson that ACTUALLY covered the song 😂 thank you for the great tutorial!!
Glad you liked it!
Thank you so much for this man, it’s fantastic!
Wow, thanks so much for that! I really appreciate the great feedback!
Excellent playing best video yet on this song. Also I have to say that is some excellent tone you are getting out of that Strat type guitar. Just proves that it doesn't have to be a fender to achieve great tones
Thanks a ton! Yes, I was happy with the tone. Of course, G&L guitars are very good ... but this is a Tribute model. Quite inexpensive.
This is another one of my favorite band that deserves notice this is a beautiful song luv this one thank you so luv this one thank you so much..
Glad you like it!
Always loved this song. PERFECT tone for this thanks for the lesson!
Glad you liked it!
You sir provide the most informative lessons on youtube.
Wow! That's a high compliment! Thanks and thanks for watching!!
You NAILED That run in that solo
Thank you!
Brilliant breakdown of that song! Thanks! I was gonna have to figure it out for an audition but this saved me so much time!! You rock! 😅

Thanks for the great lessons. I enjoyed every note!!!
Glad you're liking the lessons John. Thanks for listening and for the kind comment too!
just started jamming with some guys. They wanted me to learn this an I thought it would be way too hard. Thanks for the layout much easier than I thought.
Glad to help James! This is a great tune to have fun with for sure!
Same here but it’s way too hard for me 😂
Thanks Excellent lesson...God blessings in your life and giving

Thanks!
Thanks, buddy. Love this song!
You bet. Thanks for watching!
Thank you for actually giving a tutorial, unlike a lot of so called tutors on the tube , thanks.
Glad you liked it!
Cool, two a week would be great Mark! Love this tune... already downloaded your tab, thanks so much! Buddy
Hi Buddy. Glad you like this one. Henry Garza is a great player and Los Lonely Boys have many great tunes. This one is their biggest hit in the US. If you're not familiar with their stuff, try giving "Onda", "Nobody Else", "Senorita", and "Crazy Dream" a listen. If you like SRV and/or Santana I think you'll like those songs too.
Mark Zabel, I really like these tunes, plus SRV and Santana! Really like this song though, the guitar is great, wish I could remember these solos though instead of reading them every time. I've finally gotten to a point where I can play a lot if stuff but I'm so old and senile, I seem to forget them... :-)
I hear ya' Buddy. Note for note is very tough for me to remember. That's why 25 or 6 to 4 is taking a while. I go out of town and I forget the exact notes. I get the gist of it, but ... well, people expect note for note. It's especially tough for songs like this where the notes to each line are very similar.
In any event, I learned a new wrinkle on this solo. I really dig the way he plays with the bend on the 2nd string 10th and the first string 7th (and hammer-ons to the 8th). Technically it's sort of like the unison bends you'd hear on, say Led Zeppelin I or Ted Nugent's Stranglehold or Joe Cocker's Help from My Friends. But it's in a major context and he doesn't hold the bent note the same way. He goes back and forth and rhythmically it's more of a playful move than a power move. So I'll try to take that away even if I don't have a chance at remembering the solo itself!
Thank's so much for this :)
My pleasure. Thanks for watching!
This is amazing! Well put together! So nice when talented people make videos. Thank you. Earned a sub from me today!
Thanks!!
Great video, thanks Thumbs up
Carl Terreros You're welcome. Thanks for watching and for the thumbs up!
Stumbled on your channel while finding Baby Come Back by Player. Amazing instruction, Sir!
Thanks Michael!! Glad you stopped by. Let me know what else you'd like to hear.
You are welcome, Mark! I will do that! Still working on Baby Come Back and studying for the PMP! I will reach out though! Thanks again!
Good luck getting your PMP!
Thank you! Want that off my plate!
How about Long Cool Woman by the Hollies?
You give great lessons
Thanks!
Thanks a ton Mark!!!
Sure thing brother.
Nice! Dang, the worst part about experience and studied talent is......it takes so long to get. You sound great bradda.J
Thanks a ton James!
Great lesson here. My band plays in F# so no big deal here. Thanks again-Marc
Happy to help!
Thank you Mark appreciate it
Glad you enjoyed the video!
I did Buddy :)
Dude your awesome
Thank you!
Great way of explaining the song and communicating the how to. As I played along I did not understand why we would tune our guitars down, when it’s all just a fret different on standard tuning? (Just curious) Thanks for the lesson!
Thanks. A number of reasons to tune the guitar down to Eb. 1. It loosens the string tension, making bends easier. 2. It gives the guitar a lower, deeper, more aggressive sound - mostly matters when playing open strings. 3. Hendrix, SRV, and EVH did it ... and lots of players do it because of that.
I like staying in standard tuning myself - most of the time.
Just found your channel. Really nice lessons.
Thanks. Watch all you like ... and sub too! :) Seriously, glad you find them helpful. Please feel free to suggest topics and/or songs anytime.
Well ever since I started playing guitar I haven't been able to find tabs/lessons for the solo to "You Are the Woman" by Firefall. I've had the rhythem part down for a long time now but that solo (particularly the walk down it does) has always got me. If you got time/want to do it that would be great.
Anyways keep the lessons coming. :)
Good video. Just remember to relax the timing. Don’t rush it. It’ll groove better.
Great Mark ..
Thanks Claude!
Thanks !!!! I love that one too.....there is a gospel female group 2sisters called Mary Mary....could you also do Heaven by them....I really want to learn these chords
Hi Trina. I did this about a year ago. I know the song you're talking about. I put it on the request list of songs to do.
Cool thanks
Any time!
Nice feel there Mark
Thanks!
Awesome video! You mentioned being able to download the tabs? How does one go about doing that? Thank you!
Thanks! Click on the link in the description where it says, "Get Tabs Here" then follow the directions in the dialogue boxes that follow.
Couldn't find the fee tab? didn't see it posted on your free stuff link
Thank you for the tutorial! I'm having trouble nailing the tone on my sss stratocaster. Do you have any tips? My amp is a Mustang v2
Thanks! A couple of things to try. In all cases, use the neck pickup, EQ a bit of extra bass and midrange, and back off your volume knob on the guitar for rhythm and turn to 10 for lead. The tone of this one is largely in the fingers, so you just want to make sure the amp and any pedals are not overpowering.
1. Use a clean channel on your amp and an overdrive pedal. Don't crank the pedal, but use a moderate amount of gain.
2. Try a classic british channel on your amp. Use a moderate amount of gain.
@@MarkZabel Incredible, thank you for the reply! This tutorial is a few years old so the fact that you still replied to my comment is very appreciated! I'm learning this song for a friends birthday coming up so I'll use these tips. Thanks again!
P.S. What do you mean by don't crank the overdrive pedal?
@@travislamacchia6233 Overdrive/Distortion pedals usually have at least 3 knobs; Volume, Ton, and Gain. Don't turn the gain up much. Too many people use pedals by turning the effect up to the top. Use a little.
@@MarkZabel Thank you! Happy holidays Mark :)
@@MarkZabel like drinking alcohol!!! A little is always better than too much.😁
Can you please do more than love by Los lonely boys
Yes, I'll put that one on the list of songs to do.
What kind of amp and pedal do you use to get this sound?
I'm using a Blackstar IDCore 10 ... yes, it's only $99 ... on the "Crunch" voicing. I'm guessing I have the gain at about 6 or 7, and I'm using the neck pickup on the strat. I doubt I'm using any pedals. It's possible I have a little reverb and a little compression on it. I'm not really a pedal guy.
👏 🙌
I'd appreciate it if you can acknowledge one more thing, would I be correct to say that we can even play this song in standard tuning, i.e. no need to transpose the key, yes?
Sure. You can use standard tuning (or not) and play the song in any key you'd like.
Hey Mark great lessons!!
if only you let people learn with their ears by teaching/playing solos slowly without telling them every fret.Maybe give scale.Your an excellent teacher. And you can always find a job as a Glenn Beck impersonator:) Cheers
Ha! I've heard that before!! Thanks for the nice note and suggestions. Here's a link to a series I did (and I'm continuing) which is about playing based on simple chords rather than scales. (Although I show how pentatonic modes are related to each of the chords too.) I've done major and minor so far - 7th chords to come. (If you watch part 1, I talk about why I'm basing the series on major, minor and 7th chords.) Hopefully that will help.ruclips.net/p/PLSVfUQKkNUqazvi_EpKFZVta3TI5Z4jps
In this song, you can think about the solo(s) coming out of that G-major triad I outlined (3:40) or it's also okay just to think "G-major Pentatonic".
Great Video lesson Mark, been wanting to tackle this for a while. Tabs would be very helpful but for some reason when I put my email in that link .. nothing happens. Have tried several times, diff emails, etc .. nada. Suggestions? Again .. Great job on this. Appreciate you!!
Thanks Matthew! Sorry you didn't get the tab link. I checked and it looks as if the automation was paused. You should get it now. (Check your spam folder if you don't see it soon. And feel free to email me directly if you don't - email is here: www.youtube.com/@MarkZabel/about )
Got it! and half worked out now .. Thank you so much!!
I cannot seem to get that last part of solo down smoothly. Can play it slower but at full speed 50% of time I mess it up even though it’s supposed to be easy. 😂
It probably requires something you're not used to doing. Take it slowly and it'll happen.
@@MarkZabel thanks. Yea I feel like my fingers or pick kind of get ahead of themself and go too fast. Can’t decide what strings are best to pick and which ones to just hammer on to.
I don’t suppose you could do me a massive favour and tab the rhythm you did? Thank you!
I could add it at some point. Which part, the beginning riff? (It will be a bit, as I'm up against a bunch of deadlines for the next few weeks.)
I meant a extra little part after the G rythm he does, but I got it figured out, it was me being a little bit silly! I’m so thankful for the tutorial, and everything! I found it really insightful and helpful. It’s such a nice and relaxed song, and you did a fantastic job of teaching it.
Perfect song. My other favorite is People Get Ready which you've already done. You get two haircuts per week too?? Lol
LOL. Back in 2016 I buzzed it every couple of weeks. Not so much today. Check out my recent videos! 😀
@@MarkZabel will do Mark cos your style is Awesome!!
How do you get the tabs?
Link in the video description. Here you go. Get TABs here: tinyurl.com/ybpzjuwm
@@MarkZabel thx, you rock!
❤😇😎😎
question do you have instagram??
I do, but I haven't been on in a long time.
tuning half step down
Thanks.
I can't seem to find the tabs for this any help would be great
Easy enough. It's the only song they did.
??? They did a bunch. "Heaven" was their biggest hit, but they had several others. Their albums are great brother. You should check them out!
Am I the only one that noticed he didn’t teach the first little fill lick? Unfortunate
So good. It's just ridiculous. You're better than they are!
LOL! I don't know what to say Kurt. Thank you!
+Mark Zabel Hey, as the kids would say, #JustSayin! While I have your ear, have you ever considered the solo from Sister Christian? I think it's one of the greatest, most underrated Rock solos of all time.
Hi Kurt. I can put it on the list. It's not really my style (lots of whammy movement), but I like the solo. Jeff Watson's solo on "Don't Tell Me You Love Me" is outrageous - with all of those tapped arpeggios. Certainly more difficult, but I like how melodic the solo to Sister Christian is. Nice suggestion. I'll give it a whirl!
john travolta?????
LOL! That's pretty funny.
@@MarkZabel thank you thank you. but i learned the songs from your tab i aprecciate it
@@noahwaters3402 Awesome!
oh damn i hate when we have to tune down - why...boo hoo sucks
I know what you mean. I only tune down for RUclips, because if I don't do it I get all sorts of negative comments!
With all due respect, nobody plays guitar holding it turned around facing themselves! Why do youtube guitar lessons continue the practice of showing us the audience view? We cannot see through your fat fingers- if you wish to show us what you know try to do it with your eyes closed! You will see what we do. The endless and mindless prattling on is the practice of those not knowing how to teach. Stop motion in the video and what do you see? Fingers hiding strings and frets and which finger is making the note we hear when two more are looking to be making a note as well. The practice of tuning down to E flat is pointless here and having everyone tune down adds to confusion especially calling a G flat a G because Henry decided to be Stevie who decided to try to imitate Jimi... Reality is Henry's playing style is similar to Dickey Betts who I do not believe tuned down for anything. (Carlos? Stevie? No) Tuning down for one song? Nah. This is played in a major scale right? Is it what, G flat or F sharp or G major or ...??? Do not tune down, play it in the key Henry does.
I speak to all who post lessons, thank you but this stuff is annoying and slows a person down trying to decipher and see.
Thank you, really
cravinbob Wow. If that was with respect I'd hate to see what you have to say without it.
As far as the angle, most people seem okay with it. I'll look into it again. If it requires more equipment or requires a great deal more time to shoot, it's likely a non starter. I do this for fun. It's already too expensive with respect to my time and money ... mostly my time. If most are okay with it, then that pretty much settles it for me.
If it's "paint by numbers" that you want instead of instruction, I would suggest it's far easier to download the tab (or become a member of a paid site) and have at it. As far as not seeing the hands of the player or closing our eyes ... yes, that's what we teachers do. We learn from the music. I'm a bit older than most here - old enough to remember when there was only the radio to use. You were lucky if you had the album or knew someone who did so you could listen multiple times. Of course I don't expect people on the internet to do that today - even if it would be better for their playing. So I provide tab and some "paint by numbers" instruction along with "prattling on" about song structures, approaches, target notes, technique and the like.
As far as tuning goes. I'm 100% with you on that. The only reason I would turn to Eb is to match the record. That and because I've gotten raked over the coals when I don't do it that way. So I bow to the RUclips listener preferences on that usually. But yes, it's one of the reasons I don't do Van Halen or Stevie Ray much. It's annoying tuning down.
So okay, I'll spend a little time thinking about shooting from above, and if feasible try it out and see whether people like it better or worse. You and I will have to live with the tuning. And you'll have to live with spoken explanations if you listen to my videos.
Have a good day.
I grew up with lifting the needle from vinyl while trying to decipher what I heard and got so much wrong! Even worse I lived on a farm 5 miles from a small town so input was zip except grandpa would visit but though he could pick he played 1940s Redwing, Under the Double Eagle and ask if I remembered hearing those songs! I am 11 grandpa... Anyway It is the same from looking at that angle, I wonder if people are really learning or think they are. I have seen too many instructors do this so I get short with it. One or two have camera angle similar to their own view of the fret board.
I never apologize and won't here as it was not meant to harm but help and I believe if you experiment you might hit on the right angle and increase your viewership by the truck load!
I want to learn some of what Bob Wills guitarists played or Nick Forster when he is "Wendall Mercantile". Search youtube for "Apache red knuckles and the trailblazers".
Thank you too much!
cravinbob Go ahead and blog it.
@mark zabel this guy is an ahole your vids are super helpful and informative
Mark Zabel-
I think you’ve got a good heart.
And (I’m 55), we didn’t have the luxury of RUclips when I was 15.
But I clearly see Cravinbobs point; nobody on RUclips films from the guitar players perspective. Meaning from looking down at the fretboard from the left shoulder.
Texas Blues alley does ??
This guy is truthful and frustrated. Not mad at you personally.
I think too many people take constructive criticism as criticism, because they can’t hear the inflection in the person’s voice.
Have a great day Mark.
No, have a Blessed day.
Thank you for time teaching guitar here on RUclips
I’m trying to learn from your Joe Walsh video, for when I accompany down at church
