Bless you Ryan for bringing clarification to the speaking in tongues. I to experienced a time in my life where I went through a charismatic period. The goal of the teachings of that ministry was to eventually work everyone up to the fervor of speaking in tongues. I struggled with this mightily as I felt like I was a failure to God when I couldn't.
Fortunately for me, and I believe to this day that the Holy Spirit intervened on my behalf and led me away from that ministry.

Thank you! The word of God is beautifully perfect in peace and harmony in Gods children’s lives and in their hearts. Shalom.
Wow! What awesome rescuing of the righteous; while lovingly & unrelentingly pursuing Truth. Jesus said to righteous Peter, “when you are converted, strengthen your brother”.
As we are continually converted to truth, may we also, strengthen our brother, regardless of the cost to us.
The church of our Lord Jesus is one entity with many individual members, but denominationalism (though well intended) has splintered the church into many entities. More efforts like this one by Pastor Ryan, needs to be pursued to reach across denominational barriers (with less time constraints placed on Holy Spirit to get His messages out).

Thank you for this study and clarity. I grew up in the same type of church and I never really believed or understood it and it was not explained. I felt forced to speak in tongues to believe I was saved and it didn't feel real.

Another interesting question Ryan. How do they begin to speak in tongues? My friend told me that she was trained to speak in tongues which contradicts what scripture says in Acts 2. I have a personal relationship with Christ and each time I pray I ask him to sprinkle His Holy Spirit on me. Even though I feel I have the Holy Spirit, I have never spoken in tongues. My friend insists that if I attend her church and pray with them then I would be baptized with the Holy Ghost and start speaking in tongues🤔 That’s a no no for me.
You are correct! It's a no no in scripture, and therefore not the genuine moving of the Holy Spirit. Notice how your friend said you need to come to THEIR church and pray with THEM. This is common among charismatic Pentecostals. Their charismatic movements of the Holy Spirit primarily happen on their terms and in their domain. In the Bible, the Holy Spirit was not bound to any particular group gathering or building. In fact, most the time, those who receive the Holy Spirit in the Bible do not speak in tongues and they receive the Holy Spirit in random places not in a building or in a large group. My point is that, by following scripture alone, you can receive the Holy Spirit just by simply and genuinely asking. It can be anywhere, you don't necessarily need a large group coaching and pressing you to act a certain way, and you may not even "feel" the Holy Spirit come upon you. We don't base our evidence of receiving the Holy Spirit on feelings, signs, wonders, or speaking in tongues. We base it on the evidence of a truly converted heart with spiritual fruit able to be seen in the life as our characters are being transformed in time through sanctification. Like many of my Pentecostal friends, your friend may be sincere, but they are sincerely wrong. 🙏

Clarity: it is the Spirit that quickeneth. Even with simplicity in a known language, one can fail to get it right. The devil is also making his interpretations as he did to Eve, to confuse and claim ownership of us. Open our mind (our central processing unit) dear Lord because you use a simple language to us and the evil one comes in the night with tares/a different light

I think you are mostly on the right track here with many excellent insights, however I wish to respectfully disagree with one point. I disagree with your claim that the true gift of tongues never needs to be interpreted, because the true gift of tongues on the day of Pentecost didn’t need to be interpreted. This leads you to posit that the tongues speakers in Corinth didn’t have the true gift of tongues because interpretation was necessary. I ask you to consider that in spite of their manifest worldliness the believers in Corinth were still true believers in Christ, who Paul simply wished to correct for their misuse of tongues. It was still the true gift of tongues but they were misusing it. You are correct that in 1 Corinthians 14:2 these are not heavenly languages and certainly not the gibberish nonsense currently in vogue, but we’re known human languages that were being used selfishly without regard to edifying the gathered church. But even the true gift of tongues would need to be interpreted if no one in the congregation understood the language. If these people were not grandstanding about their spiritual giftedness they never would have been spouting off like they were to begin with. They would have just prophesied so people could benefit. That seems to be Paul’s point. Also he wasn’t completely forbidding speaking in tongues (known languages) but saying they must provide an interpretation (translation) or shut up basically.🙂 Just some thoughts for consideration.
Hey pastor Ryan I get what your saying but what if you will have a holy spirit moment and it just causes you to fall down...but your still and control but you just have a sensation of falling down.. because.. that of the holy Spirit moment that happens to me alot ..... Doesn't the holy Spirit make you fall
