My entire family grew up on these movies. The subtle comedy really gets me still till this day - especially when Alex tries to speak but all the humans hear are growls. 🤣

The joke is that monkeys are animals as smart as humans; so they can understand both and speak in both ‘languages’
For me, Madagascar, Kung Fu Panda and How to Train your Dragon are the most consistently strong and entertaining DreamWorks franchises to date. Love these films.

For Me Kung Fu Panda is one of the best animated movies in the world and my personal favourite. It has so many good messeges especially the first one

Not just cassowaries but fossa as well they not only eat lemurs but also civet cats, bush babies, and many other things except for crocodiles

This movie introduced me to two semi-foul phrases. Of course we have the sugar honey iced tea acronym, but in the Spanish dub Marty says miercoles (Wednesday).

I understand Alex, imagine going from what you consider a perfect life to the exact opposite. If i went from a life of playing video games most of the time, to a place without even electricity, I'd strangle whoever was responsible
13:46. When I watched this movie as a kid, I originally thought Marty said "I should've had nice teeth" as apposed to "oh, sugar honey iced tea." This misinterpretation actually makes sense when you think about it, since Alex was showing his teeth when his anger revealed its self.
My hearing isn't the best, so I always thought he said: "Oh sh*t I had a nice tea!" for some reason.
Well, if you can get passed this one, the second one has a lot more heart, character development for each of the main four, lemur and penguin shenanigans from Julien and Skipper, and great music. Trust me on this one 🙂👍

Got this movie on DVD for Christmas that year. This is a movie that will forever be ingrained in my mind.
This movie has so many jokes that a lot of them go over people's heads. Lol.
I think the penguin spin off is underrated
The spinoff does have some funny moments, but the storyline itself kinda sucks in my opinion.
In real life I'd be more afraid of Gloria. Even Alex didn't try touching her in feral mode. She would've beat his butt straight to the other side of the island. As for Alex always going after Marty, it makes sense. Zebras are common food source for lions, too bad Marty probably doesn't know he could give Alex a concussion with a single kick. 😂 I've been watching too many nature videos. And you were right about Alex's eyes "turning big". A lot of animals go on attack mode when they show the white of their eyes. In the case of Alex it was the blue. 😉
MADAGASCAR was my first movie I seen, and it's still one of my favourite movies of all times!
Fun Fact: Chris Rock as Marty is a Narrator in Everybody hates Chris & David Schwimmer as Melman play as Ross Geller in Friends.
Gloria is played by Jada Pinkett Smith whom Chris Rock called G I Jane. Rest is History

Madagascar is one of my favorite DreamWorks movies along with Shrek and Kung Fu Panda also the penguins are the best part of these films.
There are 4 Madagascar related films in all. Madagascar (2005), Madagascar: Escape to Africa (2008), Madagascar 3: Europe's Most Wanted (2012) and spinoff movie, Penguins of Madagascar (2014).
There are three Madagascar movies and one Penguin spin-off movie. I think you'll like the sequel and the Penguins movie.

Great movie!! My youngest son loves this movie. The zebra (Marty), giraffe (Melman) and hippo (Gloria) could all eat vegetation, while the Alex the lion starved. Of course he was not doing well. It's not his fault he was not suited for the wild. I think Alex was a fun loving guy until he turned wild, but he did end up saving his friends in the end. Luckily the penguins showed him fish, which he could enjoy.

There is three Madagascar movies and one spinoff of penguins
There are actually 3 Madagascar movies, plus a spin-off of the penguins (creatively titled Penguins of Madagascar). For me, the third one is the best because it's the most fun and chaotic. 2 is kind of forgettable, in my opinion. PoM is dumb fun.
You are spot on Mary. Madagascar is the one franchise where I hate all 4 major characters but love all the Minor characters. They gave the Penguins their own movie. Which was so much more entertaining than Madagascar.
And their own spin off series too!

To correct you, there are a total of 3 Madagascar films (Plus the Penguins spinoff film, penguins series and a short holiday special) (I probably missed a couple things but that's what I can remember.

I hope you have been having a good day, it's good to see you reacting to Madagascar, it's among my favorite DreamWorks Animation movies next to Kung Fu Panda, How To Train Your Dragon, Shrek 1 and 2, Megamind, and Monsters v. Aliens. I hope you will be doing reactions to those at some point, you're going to laugh your butt off on the Shrek series! And I agree, the chimpanzees and the penguins stole the show in every scene they were in! More entertaining than the lead protagonists themselves, with the exception of Marty and Gloria.
Foosas are real on the island. They're like lizard-cats but are more related to weasels. They look creepy too.
After this are two direct sequels and a Penguins spinoff. The other franchises worth watching are Shrek/Puss in Boots, Kung Fu Panda and How to Train Your Dragon. There's also Antz, Over the Hedge, Monsters vs Aliens, Megamind and many others
I love this movie, but actually like the second movie better. King Julian really shines in that one.

animals in a responsable Zoo have kind of won the lottery, Vets with med, no preditors trying to eat them, they are generally healthy and live longer than the same animal in the wild.
Alex is just a victim of circumstance.
DON'T DEMONIZE ZOOS!!! Nowadays, most zoos are required to meet strict guidelines that include enrichment for mental health and are mostly used for conservation when it comes to animal populations anyways. That said, please do research first. I work with animals and have seen some shady privately owned establishments as well.

If you were wondering what the fossa are, they're the largest species of civet (basically African weasels and ferrets), and are maybe 2-2.5x the size of the average house cat. This makes them essentially the largest species of mammalian carnivore native to Madagascar.

Yeah there are a few more Madagaskar movies. But Penguins have their own movie Penguins of Madagaskar and even series.
I grew up watching this movie and remember enjoying it. The plot and humor are pretty basic, and looking back, some of the animation is too jerky and erratic for my brain to feel comfortable lol Plus a lot of the big jokes and scenes were shown in the trailers that played before a lot of my other favorite movies, so they feel so old now
But it's a pretty good movie that is fine for kids.
There are also 3 main movies, not just 2, and the Penguins got their own spinoff movie and King Julien got a spinoff show.
You have got to watch the Penguins of Madagascar. As much as I love the Madagascar movies the penguins stand alone movie is by far my favorite.
