@@margaretpijnaker9922 Hello sir, I’m writing an article on the war and would like to know about first hand experience. Is it possible to connect with you somehow. Maybe via email
Quite right. I've lived or stayed in anything from shoe box sized studio apartments (I liked "tiny" houses while single, and even married without kids), to palatial country estates (I eloped with an American and have never been happier! The titled noble side of my family are still not talking to me! Their bad, I'm happy! 💕), but I always gravitate towards the "cottage" scale and style. Not as tiny as this thatched house, but modestly sized houses. I would need a large cavernous kitchen to rival large country houses, though. I cook a lot, for a lot of people, on a daily basis, and grow enough garden produce to always be canning, dehydrating, salting, curing, smoking, and just otherwise preserving them. I can work from a tiny excuse of a kitchen in a studio apartment, I've done it before, but I wish I had a larger (or better organized) kitchen (think Audley End house, lol) nearly every day. It would be a "frankenhouse"! 😅
@z It's actually not our home, I mention in the video that it belongs to the Landmark Trust and you can rent it for a holiday. The link is in the description box. Thank you.
That is lovely! I especially like that you are soft spoken. I'm so over the loud people here in the U.S. I was raised around a Scottish Grandmother, so we had to learn to speak low. God forbid I should slam a door! My Grandmother would make me close it again, softly. I truly miss her!

I'd love to visit it someday.
I'm from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
I lived in England for 4 years as a kid, and this reminded me of that time. I've never been to Devon, but this makes me want to go. The food at the inn looked so good. I think I'll try to make Yorkshire pudding soon like my Mother did.
Hello Kirsten and Joerg - I so much love how the British preserve the quaintness in their cottages and countryside. Congrats!
I just found your channel. England and English villages and cottages and gardens have always been my dream place to live. Your channel is lovely and you two are perfect to present such an enchanting place.
That’s so kind, thanks so much!
I'm in love. I love how you kept the floors and mostly everything with its character. This reminds me as if I'm watching Masterpiece Theater, lol. Oh, love from America.
It's a lovely cottage, isn't it? We rented it for a week from the amazing Landmark Trust.
I despise seeing the older homes "updated " and being completely gutted , destroying the history and the original features.
The inside was not at all what i expected. I absolutely LOVE the whole house!!!
Добрый день ! Очень нравится этот стиль , как будто я тут когда то жила , такое все родное.
Beautiful Cottage .Beautiful People .Beautiful Place to Live.Thanks.
Thank you so much for watching!
When I eventually go to England, it's places like this I want to spend most most my time in. I'll do a whirlwind jaunt through the must-sees of central London and head out from there. See the places from where my genes originate.
Richard witherow my family name is withrow and grandfather was blackfoot / chicachoy indian. Might have misspelled indian name. Do you know much of your ancestry?
@@sandysemore2635 Hi! I''m 100% Northwestern European; mainly British Isles and Germany. I'm from New Zealand and now live in Australia.
Wow i wish i knew so much of myself. Ive always been drawn to europe for so strange reason. Other than stories ive heard of a family member that came to america. I should probably to ancestery.com. Thank you for telling me a bit about yourself, it is awesome to me for you to have so much info on yourself. Thank you so much for sharing. Im going to put your name in the list because of the spelling, and to keep in mind the hereditary background.😊
@@sandysemore2635 Good one! I don't know a great deal, just the basic overview going back 200 years. The thing that brought it all together was a DNA test my brother did. Because, of course, my brother and I have the same background, that saved me money by not having to pay for my own test. It was extremely accurate, down to pinpointing North Wales and other places where I know we have some ancestry. Good luck in your genealogy research!
@@richardwitherow5289 thank you for your response and info, very appreciated thank you. Have a blessed day, enjoy😊
I love all the Historical, aged buildings! Thanks for sharing! Enjoying this in 2023😉👍🏼

It's beautiful, you can rent it through The Landmark Trust, we loved it!
It's so perfectly ENGLISH.
She speaks such good English
as she is British. Most probably
only English as well.
@@111-w9d7y I'm German which is clearly stated in my channel art saying 'A German in Britain' lol :)
I saw similar houses in Transylvania. Mostly Hungarian

You are so kind, thank you! I actually stopped writing my blog more than 2 years ago and totally switched to video.
How gorgeous and peaceful. I hope that it stays like that always.
So Beautiful: reminds me of my home in Ireland; now living in Melbourne Australia xx
Oh lovely, my husband used to live in Australia as a child.
Oh lucky you, my son lives in Melbourne x I'm in Spain, but been lucky enough to visit Melbourne and Devon this year.
Beautiful...... I remember Clovelly very well. I visited this village when I was a child. I really wish to come back one day!!!!!! ♥️
Here it is October 2019 and I just found your channel.
What a delightful video. Your little cottage is magical and cozy. Thank you so much for sharing your time there.
Even her dressing sense is VINTAGE my eternal favourite. 🧣🧤🧥👜👠💄💃
Love her red/white coat. Never seen anything so perfect.
Hello from Ukraine!!! What a lovely house and the place! I accidentally found your video and I love it!
You are sweet)))!!
This cottage is absolutely adorable. I think the size is perfect. Love the village. A terrific video. Thank you.
Here in greece we put nice natural stone along the bottom of the house wall to come up further than the splash from the rain,it stops the damp penetrating and from spoiling the plaster, put on with sand and cement and a hardener added in the mix, does a good job of keeping damp away.Love your house and the area,I once lived for a short while near Bideford, loved it,thankyou.
That makes real sense! Yes it's not our cottage, we only spent a holiday there but would probably wise to do something like that.
It has been flooded not splashed
@@mrsbee5056 bit like Ireland then, rain and more rain,it hasnt rained more than a couple of light showers here in athens since last may, other parts have had some flooding, attiki county which includes athens probably has the least mad weather of greece, winter weather.A wood burner is rquired from end august really to keep damp away in ireland and many parts of UK.Its a bit damp here now in the air and I dont like it.
Devon and Cornwall, gotta love them :)
I do love them! Magical 💕
Babbacombe is lovely
This reminded me of Sense and Sensibility...loved everything about this!
Oh wow this brings back good memories. I live in California now but when we lived in London Devon was one my mom's favorite spots, man I miss being a kid.
This really is a dream cottage in a beautiful place. I could be very happy there!
Thanks for sharing this very quaint tiny house and the village, oh I would love to visit. Enjoyed your video.
This was just dreamy.
Devon and Cornwall with the beautiful scenery, villages and sandy beaches is so beautiful. Thankyou for this lovely video.
Loved seeing this....my ancestors lived in Devon in the 17th century before emigrating to the New World. Loved this look at the scenery, etc.
Where is the new world
America you fool 😂
M Bibi America is the new world! Dumb dumb
I love England, I hope I can visit again before I die.
The cottage looks really nice on the inside despite its age. Beautiful woods and other scenery.
Love Kirsten’s clothes - the prints and especially the red coat and matching hat. Enjoying the videos -they are the essence of coziness with nature, food, history and this sweet couple.
This is a great idea. When you book a holiday cottage on the internet you have no idea what it will be like in reality. All looks lovely!
