  • Hi!
No music. No talking. Just work.
If you are taking your HP Pavilion 15 BS234WM laptop apart be careful and wear an anti-static wrist band or use other anti-static device. If you need to change a LCD usually you don't have to take screen out of a laptop. You can leave it on a laptop and watch the last part of the video where I am taking LCD apart. If you need to change a keyboard, you don't have to take all bottom screws out. There are usually some marks, like a keyboard picture, on a case bottom. If you need to put a laptop back to work be aware of screws. They are different and you better remember or mark them somehow to insure that you will put them back in to a right place.
Some laptops I take apart first time, so don't be serious on my time and performance.
If something got broken - ooops, it's your fault.
Believe me, some parts in your laptop are already broken, you just don't see that.
    Have fun and good luck!!

Thank you! My friend asked me to help her keep her machine limping along until she can get a new one, and these instructions worked perfectly. Thank you!

You are welcome! Not much of an instruction, just a disassemble of a laptop, but I am glad it helped!

I wanted to add ram to this laptop. I used your video and was able to complete with no problems. I did have to replay a couple of times. But thanks for this!

The keyboard is plastic welded to the palm rest / trackpad part of they case. This means you can't replace the keyboard without damaging the case. I learned this the hard way after ordering a replacement keyboard from Amazon. It seems I'll either have to live with some keys not working or replace the entire palm rest case.

That is an unfortunate design that pretty much all of the manufacturers follow now.

This is true. The keyboard IS plastic welded to the case. But, it's plastic. It's EASILY shaved off, all the little "dots", using a flat razor blade scraping tool, being VERY careful not to slip and cut into any of the remaining ribbon strip cables or anything else. Slow and easy, with very little pressure, more like "sawing" but really lightly and with a very sharp razor blade, is the key to making sure you don't slip and accidentally cut into anything that would be catastrophic. Then proceed with the replacement of the keyboard. Make sure you get EVERY single little bit of plastic debris removed or it will bite you in the ass later. Once you do, simply install the new keyboard and then the metal cover over the keyboard, add a drop of super glue to each spot where the plastic welds were retaining them both down and add some reasonably heavy, but with in reason, weight to keep it flat until the super glue dries, then reassemble. It's a PITA, yes, but it's totally doable. I've done it twice. I can't say I look forward to it and I hope like hell this design has gone away, but it CAN be replaced. It's unfortunate that this "complete" teardown was not, but hopefully I gave somebody the last piece of the puzzle that did not get any rep here.
One thing to note and be SURE you do, is fold back the metal grounding strip from the keyboard's metal surface, and then reattach it (It has a somewhat adhesive surface) to the new keyboard metal surface (Below the metal cover that goes over the keyboard itself) before installing the metal cover and gluing it down. Then it's just the reverse procedure seen in the video after that.

All instructions seem to be correct. My only mistake was missing the screw by the cd rom, so when I tried to pry it out, I broke the plastic veneer off.

You could probably find this plastic piece on eBay. Search for your laptop make model and cd drive model.for your laptop

I did the same. I didn't realize there was another screw next to it. Shoulda showed it. I gave my complete trust to this vid, lol, and it was a quick reminder to... Well, not. But it's still helpful.
