HP Pavilion TouchSmart 15 Take Apart and ReAssembly

- Hi!
No music. No talking. Just work.
If you are taking your HP Pavilion TouchSmart 15 laptop apart be careful and wear an anti-static wrist band or use other anti-static device. If you need to change a LCD usually you don't have to take screen out of a laptop but in this case it will be tricky. You can leave it on a laptop and watch the last part of the video where I am taking LCD apart. If you need to change a keyboard, you don't have to take all bottom screws out. There are usually some marks, like a keyboard picture, on a case bottom. If you need to put a laptop back to work be aware of screws. They are different and you better remember or mark them somehow to insure that you will put them back in to a right place.
Some laptops I take apart first time, so don't be serious on my time and performance.
If something got broken - ooops, it's your fault.
Believe me, some parts in your laptop are already broken, you just don't see that.
Have fun and good luck!!

It was my worst fear that access needed to be obtained through the keyboard, but you made it seem like a breeze! Thanks for the video!
Each of the videos I've watched hoping to be able to repair/replace the DC jack in my HP G62 laptop, me absolutely positive their intent was to convince me it was to complicated and I should pay them to fix it (as their screen flashed showing what they'd charge to do it for me). I kept looking and seeing the same thing until yours. A guy who ACTUALLY made a video to help ME fix it MYSELF. I'm a little nervous, and never worked on a computer before, (only a mother daughter lets fix the washing machine together.. so excited when it worked.. and used a video w/wrong info that helped to get me started replacing the side-view mirror on my Jeep..again very excited... so capable and common sense w/o the knowledge, but not 1 video I've seen made me feel I could/should even begin to take my computer apart by myself until yours came along. So, so glad to have found you. Clearly if I had money to throw away I wouldn't bother, but groceries and school books are and you have me thinking if I change the dc jack and it works, I'll try to replace the keyboard next (that the kitten we rescued pulled the buttons off of} hoping you have a video on that too! This may be very silly to ask as it's probably right in front of me... but is there a way for me to help people see that you are the one they need to watch and that the others are only trying to make them feel helpless to get their business? I know if I just write it here in the comments, no one has time to read a bunch of comments before each video they try. If not, WATCH THIS ONE!!! and.... Thank you, thank you, and thank you again!
Wow, that's a rare comment. Usually people say just "thanks".
Take care!
Huge help. I'm renovating one of these for use as a retro gaming station and it was hard to find relevant search results. Thanks!!
Cheers mate, my parents use this laptop, fan was v dirty and couldn't figure out how to take it apart, didn't think it would be keyboard off first. Great work, the lack of commentary makes it nice and chill :)
I am glad that this video still helps people around the world
Thanks for the vids regazz! I don't get my hands on up to date computers at all so it's cool to see the ways they have situated the inner electronics of these new computers!
I appreciate this video especially putting it back together cause its big hands small parts for me when putting it together
Thanks you are the only one that shows how to remove the screen entirely, My screen is flickering because the plug from the screen needs to be reseated. No one else pointed that out or removed the screen so I could see how to do that.
NeOnThEcOdEr Some laptops I filmed I left touchscreen untouched, because they are glued so bad that taking it apart will destroy a screen. So, I am not always like that :)) But thanks anyway!!!
This helped me sooo much thank you for this video! This is farther than I've ever torn into anything and I've built pcs.
Great video, it was very informative and I used your video to take apart my laptop but the only thing I would suggest is to make sure you put new thermal paste anytime you remove the heatsink from the processor
Thanks. My dog knocked my laptop off the table and knocked the keyboard loose. I used this video to see how to go ahead and remove the keyboard and then reinstall it. It still feels a little loose in the area just to the left of the number keypad, as if there's a little space between the keyboard and the underlying structure, but it's much better than it was.
loved the video & thanks for the info, the only critique would be to point to all of the screws first prior to unscrewing them; I used this video to painstakingly upgrade the memory in this poorly designed-for-upgrade laptop LOL truly appreciative :)
I am glad that it was helpful. Thank you!
There's just a problem I don't know how to work with laptop ribbon cables
Great video, I like the quiet work. Thanks!
Hi I'm using this video to take my touchsmart apart after spilling coffee on it , I can not get it to power on any suggestions on spills and this laptop plz help 😭
I have one of those I just purchased three months ago new. One thing I noticed after taking two of their laptops apart is that it is easier to work on them than the Toshiba which I had to take apart completely just to clean out the fan and reinstall paste on the cpu.
Yes, because a lower part comes off and pretty much everything you need is exposed. Same as Toshiba C855 C55
so the backcover of this laptop model can't be removed? i was wondering because i was thinking of buying an eGPU dock, and it needs to connect to the pcie dock which i cant locate.
Thank you very much, your video really help me to change the hard drive and the keyboard that was broken. :)
I tore mine down - upgraded to SSD and swapped out the 4mg for an 8mg. what a pain! now my touchscreen won't respond. pretty sure it did initially but wonder if there might be a cable that I didn't re-attach? I know I had to unplug lots of things to get the board out in order to swap the memory.
any suggestions? it doesn't show up in device manager as even being in there. I looked under mic and also human devices. no luck. aside from that it works fine. I just prefer to have everything working as it should. it started out as a windows 8, then upgraded to 7 then to 10 pro. wondering if in one of the updates it got taken out.
My young cousin old laptop stopped working. I just needed the screws holding the hard drive in :)
Oh, and PS... I noticed the others all discussed the need to solder, but this HP looked as if it did not, or is that only wishful thinking? I airbrush and use little stencil burning tools, but I've never soldered anything before, so a little scared of burning something I shouldn't or soldering too much, lol. Is it possible my HP's DC jack doesn't require soldering?
most HP laptops don't require soldering.
Thanks for this video mate 👌 helped me replace a junk hard drive with a ssd
Hey I'm trying to do this myself and I was wondering what that thing you were using was to pry open the sides...is it specifically for computers or some custom tool you made?
yeah what was that tool you used for that?
looks like an old card
Probably this video is old enough to write something, but how do you unplug you keyboard from the pc, it's stuck here
Sometimes it can be sticky and harder to remove
@@regazzz what is the secret to unplug the monitor to the board, it's the first thing you unplug when removing the keyboard, min 4 more or lesz
min 3.30*
@@LucawPT you need to pull it up
@@LucawPT this black ribbon can rip, if that will happen, you should be able to use a small flat screwdriver to carefully un pry it
After that disassembly did it work
Excellent demonstration. thank you!
You are welcome!
Can the sleek book upgrade cpu or the cpu is soldered to the motherboard?
Help me I just tear off the blue stiffener on power ribbon cable how do i fix it
How can I simply change the ram? Will I need to go through all of the procedures at the beginning or can I just open up the back?
***** You have to go through all those procedures because the back is sealed
+TheEnderknight When I come across irritating laptop designs like this and don't care about a warranty (or it's out of warranty), I'll cut an access panel out of the casing to avoid having to tear the thing apart multiple times to change simple things like RAM, CPU or even the hard drive.
Though you have to take the laptop apart at least once to figure out the best way to cut the casing and add mounting hardware for the new door. And of course to make sure you don't actually cut the motherboard or anything else important. If you do it right then it looks pretty decent and is a massive time saver over the long run.
What do you use to do that because it looks like i will have to do that as well
Can i remove the touch screen glass and use the laptop normally as my glass is broke too bad and not good in look now pls give advice
AT regazzz - Excellent video. No bull.
will the 14 be the same how do i make sure my screen connection is in correct as it keeps flicking on an off so i think it has came loose, were will it be situated the part i need to reconnect
will the heat from the processor damage the ram or cause it to malfunction?
It would be better to use a guitar pick to pry open the keyboard section of the laptop!!!
Thanks for uploading this video, now I can clean my keys.
I would say, with my channel you can have at least some idea on how to repair or clean huge amount of laptops :) From oldest to a newest.
thanks so much
How did you open the display cable?
Eu tenho um notebook desce e queria saber se o procesador dele é solto ou soldado na placa mãe.!?
Just what the doctor ordered
Thanks a lot dude.
Oh God! , I'll do that when i need to change Ram ?!
Because HP forgot to put a door on the bottom of the laptop.
Hello. Its it possible to only use external monitor on this pc? I want to deaktivate the lcd , its broken..
Yes
Is it enough to unplug the cable to the monitor, or do you have to unplug the power as well? Thanks for answer
@@idargabrielsen4021 just unplug screen cable and if it has a separate cable for touch sensor, you can unplug it too.
I have this laptop and the port that the charging cable plugs in to is broke. The cable wiggles a lot when I plug it in and I was told it was the port that needs replacing. Could anyone tell me how to go about doing this and what part would I need to search for? Everything I have tried so far hasn't helped.
+oconor316 HP has their own " Part " Catalog you can go to the HP official homepage and order parts so to speak but they only ship to the US nfortunately. Other than that Just take apart the laptop as shown in this video until the DC jack is free. then just desolder and solder a new one on. ! DO NOT slack off on the solder job lol :p or get cheap solder !
Where is the mini pcie port located??
Thanks Mate! Saved me a lot of time!
+Hugo Mouton you are very welcome!
im missin my main fan. I opened up my laptop and it wasn't there. What can I do or where can I order a new one?
Burning Man You're... missing your fan... wow. Search ebay I'm sure you'll find what you're looking for xD
thanks
Does anyone know where to obtain the final part he took off?
WORD OF ADVICE: YOUR COFFEE WILL SPILL, NO MATTER HOW CAREFUL YOU TRY TO BE. Have a great day!
Does any one know where i can buy the glass ? The lcd partnis ok but the glass broke..
Bill Salvey My guess would be that the glass is glued to the plastic frame so I would assume that a heat gun and a guitar pick could remove it. Like you would do to remove a cell phone screen that is glue in place. Heat a little bit slip the pick in and work you way around until the glass was free. Then just use glass glue either the LOCA style, which requires use of a UV lights to set it, or maybe even the glass rated crazy glue.
hi buddy pls i really need your help regarding my touch-pad i have tried to fix it from the motherboard i tried connecting it directly to the motherboard yet i can't get the color code that will come first , second , third , fourth and fifth... pls help me out @regazzz
how to replace processor for this pc?
I need two replacement screws! Does anyone know what size these outer screws are?
You can either buy a cheap set of screws on eBay or if they are not important, leave it this way.
Thanks, this helped a lot!
can you replace the i core
I need the complete BIOS ..
i can change the processor, video card or do a eGPU?
you can't upgrade laptop processors or GPUs, as they come soldered into the motherboard.
i already buy a new PC, thanks (1 year have passed)
Is the hard drive 7.0mm or 9.5mm? Thanks!
+XxBrenan008xX I think both should fit. In video looks like thick one.
You're right, I just checked the online manual.
XxBrenan008xX
I am like online manual :)

+R3d's Tech You are very welcome!
How much do you charge? I need repairs :)
What repair is needed and where are you located?
@@regazzz Well I talked to a company on the phone they said it sounds like i might need a drive. But I would need everything from my old drive placed onto my new drive. it also needs some general love, care, and attention.
@@SheThatExistsHerStoryChannel what is happening to your computer right now, can you start it up or what is happening?
@@regazzz it says "preparing automatic repair" but it won't repair. any option I choose it won't work.
@@SheThatExistsHerStoryChannel do you have windows 10 on it?
why hp do not did littlte window???
good
Where are the RAM modules?
+Andrew Wrublesky I am on the phone, can't really go through video to find it. Do you obviously know how memory looks like?
Yes I do. I am an IT Tech I need to tear apart this computer to replace the ram and I did not see it in the video, now I'm wondering if the ram is soldered to the board
+Andrew Wrublesky no it is not and ram should be there.
+regazzz okay I'll watch the video again. Thank you for the help
+Andrew Wrublesky 8:47
Is the ram ddr4 or dd3l
Probably ddr3 but it all depends on the exact model name you have. HP 15-..... exactly what.
DDR3 12800 PC3
