I used to play this household called "House Sanctuary" which was basically meant to be like, a government thing for teens from troubles backgrounds. It had eight teen sims, each with a negative trait (yknow, trauma) and theyd go to school and also juggle a part time career to pay for the relatively big house (the part time job was like part of their "rehabilitation, it was a lot of make believe) but it was fun and challenging.

So, I recently wanted to do something different, as I normally play legacy family style, so I made a male YA sim and made him try for a baby with any female sim that he could find in his neighbourhood (decided he wasn't allowed to leave home lot). Once a female sim had a child, he could call them and try again as long as there was room in the female sim's household! With aging set on normal, by the time he died of old age, he had 331 kids! Played as one of his kids for a few more days to allow for any pregnancies to come to fruition, and his total number was 345! It broke the family tree!

recent storylines ive played that im obsessed with:
    - ugly duckling to hottie

      @@-aaa-9261
      1. ugly duckling: I start by making a cute sim in CAS at first, but then changing a few details here and there to make them "less desireable" (???) I also give them 1-2 "bad" traits and kick off the world.
I slowly do things to combat the bad physical and character traits. If my sim has acne, they have to eat right, exercise, hydrate, and now with Spa Day, do face masks to get rid of it. If my sim has the jealous trait, they have to ruin a few relationships due to jealousy, only to enter into more casual romantic relationships that make them see the error in their ways (I use the retraiting potion to swap traits for the added challenge, but you can do it in CAS when you feel like it's time).
I basically make a sim with the intent that they will change over time and set goals/make up storylines to have those things change. the sim i did this with is one of my most memorable households honestly.
      2. Evil Origin Story: starting off in the toddler stage means I also need to establish a backstory for their parents, who for various reasons aren't really the best parents. This is good because it sows the seeds of conflict early. And then it's basically just an exploration into all the "bad" stuff you can do in the sims, like making messes as toddlers, cheating in college, etc. I had the parent in mine be a cop to further add to the drama as my then teenager broke curfew (parenthood) and stuff.
      3. Tragic Backstory + Jaded: this is the storyline I'm playing right now. I started off with the sim having a few bad/conflicting traits (mean but outgoing) and gave them a tragic backstory in that their parent died while they were fighting, moved in with grandparents who they didn't like until grandparent dies too.
Now they're all alone and they have a lot of hurt, but they don't really have any healthy outlets for their feelings. They have a cousin in henford, so they go there and being from the city, they hate it. I have them fight and get into arguments with all of the townies, be part of a club that meets at the bar that likes pranks, mischief, fighting, etc. get into fights with the cousin so they have to sleep in the barn.
but they have a few redeeming qualities; because they're a loner, they prefer doing the gardening and animal chores because they're solitary work.
because they're outgoing, they crave friendship, but they're just not all that good at being friendly. Slowly but surely, some of the townsfolk wear her down. I started first with Agnes because I thought it would be funny, but then it spread to the Creature Keeper, Grocery Deliverer, Simon Scott, etc. Basically, anyone whose own backstory shared similar qualities to my sim's.
(sorry for how long this comment is, hope it helps!)
      a few pieces of advice:
      - come up with storylines on paper first. Then try to translate it into the sims. You'll get more realistic stuff that way.
      - give backstory, motivations, justifications. the sims just creates these people out of thin air and plops them into a world with no skills, no job, nothing. work this into your story. why is your sim all by themselves? were they just craving a change? did they just break off an engagement and looking for something new? did they just drop out of college? what were they studying? did the whole family move here to escape something? or for new opportunities?
      - create a few characters from their old life; parents, best friends, rival family, childhood bully, etc. the trick here is to not overdo it though.
      - use mods to cheat skills, jobs, promotions, relationships, etc. whatever you need to flesh out your background characters, etc.
I was really into creative writing when i was younger, so i do this stuff reflexively as a way to work those creative muscles that i developed when i was younger but that my real life doesn't really demand anymore. if you want more inspo or context, id recommend looking into those kinds of resources.

I created a challenge based on one of my favorite classic films, "Sunset Blvd." It basically entails taking a Sim who is an adult who was once a famous actress, but is now older, and very few people remember her and trying to get her to the top of the fame ladder by the time she dies. It's difficult because you start in the adult life stage. There are some bonuses, though. You start as a one-star celebrity and you have some acting and charisma to start out with but you can only make money through the career and through tips (if you have your sim play an instrument on the side). If they get married, the spouse cannot work. It was so hard but so rewarding. I wrote rules and everything.

You want to try something different? I go "sim shopping" in the in the sim manager through the townies, the unplayed sims which were generated by the game. There are some crazy combinations in there. One has love dogs trait but owns a cat. There have been ones who are in the dastardly aspiration but have the good trait. Lots of weird fun combinations, rule being you can't "fix" them by cheating in CAS, to change their traits have to earn the aspiration points and use the potion to change them. Usually by the time they have the points to buy the potion you're used to the traits and have learned to live with them, which expands your mind for gameplay.

Life hack if you want to woo the reaper: have your sim take selfies with him. Surprisingly, when your sims take pictures together, it considerably increases their relationship. That way, you don't have to waste time chattering to become friends.

I had one sim I made into this ‘Ancient High Elf’ Spellcaster type. She was like 300 years old, and was also a medium. I made up this whole story about how she was originally a part of the Elven people, but was banished because she assisted in giving Sims magic. She had to start all over!
She made her money by gardening, potion brewing and doing psychic medium stuff (paranormal just came out.)
It was honestly so much fun.

I tried a ‘legacy’ challenge (idk if this’ll class as a legacy challenge lol) and the rules were:
    • Short life span- (NO delaying age by sleeping etc. When the sim has to age then up, you MUST age them up).
    • Must finish their aspiration- (They must finish their aspiration by the time they age up. So if you have a sim child, you need to finish their aspiration. When you reach teenhood, you’ve got enough time to finish their chosen aspiration.)
    • At least have 1 child- (Keep the legacy going!)

I currently have a few households I rotate through. One is a man trying to get every premade female sim pregnant, another is a group of 8 all with very different traits and aspirations, and they must finish their aspiration before they're allowed to move out. I also just have an entire save where every household was made by me and has a story that I plan to play through.

I'm currently playing a storyline with two latina sisters one a young adult and one a teenager who both live in the hood (I recreated willow creek in a blank save file with all types of lots you might find in the hood, trap houses, run down houses, macdonald's, beauty salon, strip club, motel, church (religion mod) with a good neighbourhood on the opposite side of town), the older sister receives weekly government cheques to help support them (snb bills) and she works part-time in customer service (midnite tech career).
Both she and her sister are more like friends than typical parent/child, they share the same room different beds and sleep/cook half naked whenever tf they want cos it's just the two of them (wicked whims) - pure sisterly vibes only! Anyway being pretty young and irresponsible herself the older sister struggles to stay on top of their finances and frequently gets sad and cries about being poor (not sure which mod it is that gives this moodlet) and she often asks a friend in the neighbourhood for cash when she's struggling.
She's gorgeous though and recently tried going on a date with a sugar daddy who she genuinely hates (sentiments are a wonderful thing) so she forced herself to flirt with him the whole time and got some money at the end, he has since called once and she ignored the phone lol. Her little sister snuck out with her best friend one night when her sister was sick in bed (health redux) and went to meet her crush in the park.
They have since woohooed even though he threw a cup of water in her face the first time they met at her house alone and it annoyed the crap out of her. Guess he was super nervous and didn't know what to do or say. All in all, mods make the Sims SO MUCH MORE REALISTIC AND FUN! Custom tv channels and custom music change the vibe a lot too. Thank you to the Sims community for allowing me to play the game like this 😭
Not to mention the drug dealing brothers and their beloved dog bullet, and the housing project apartment block that houses in separate apartments a crack head, a waste of space, and a nice young man that actually wants to do better, avoid drugs and gangs get out the hood that I play on rotation from time to time but that's a different story for a different day!

My main save has been going on for years with aging on, and I turned it off for townies around Eco Lifestyle's release. What I really enjoy is to hop in random households filled with all kinds of random sims, with different relationships (such as old couples, random babies and pets, etc) and going with the flow. It really enhances the experience, and helps me avoid playing the same story line over and over.

I unintentionally played the “dead sim/grieving spouse and children” story. My sim (made her as teen and her sister for paranormal stuff) died on vacation in Sulani and she was married to Johnny Zest. They were there with their two children and her niece who had already lost both her parents to old age (old parents is kind of interesting game play too) It was quite traumatic 😅 I’ve never had a sim die unexpectedly from anything other than old age. Perhaps I need more death traps in my game? 🤔

I ended up marrying Johnny Zest as Nova Curious. When they were dating, he randomly adopted a baby girl(guess it was just story progression luck?). She moved in with him and eventually married him. After they had a boy, so the first kid got a younger brother. Then I decided to have one more, and she had twins. Pretty cute, actually. Lewis is still hanging around asking me about job and relationship advice, constantly jealous of Johnny.

A storyline I thought of once, similar to your first idea is the orphanage storyline. Basically, there’s this woman who inherited an orphanage from her grandmother. She then has to raise like 6-7 kids. Well, 2 of them are almost adults, one is an early teen, 2 are toddlers and one is a baby. Once the 2 oldest grow up and become legal adults, they choose to stay at the orphanage to help take care of the other kids. By that time, the teen is in their mid-teens, the toddlers are kids now and the baby is a toddler. It’s such a fun story :D

I'm actually doing an enemies to lovers kind of thing where my sims (F) met this kid (M) and they were childhood best friends, but just before they became teenagers my sim’s best friend moved away and they didn’t see or speak to each other as teenagers. During my teenage time, my sims got into gardening and had enough to start her own business by young adulthood. During her young adulthood, she has this rival guy and he’s trying to one-up her, unaware that they were childhood best friends they become enemies. Slowly over time in their young adulthood they start to realise how much they had in common and eventually remember that they were their childhood best friends. They also seemed to have a but of feelings for each other and end up falling in love, combining their company’s and living happily for the rest of their lives

The Hostel Challenge I made up is so much fun. Set up a house with eight random Sims, the worst bunk beds, the worst of everything. All the bad lot challenges. Grow cowplants and leave them on the lot. I also took from the old Asylum challenge I no longer play they have to work in the criminal career and complete two aspirations to gain their freedom from the hostel. Play as one Sim and leave the others do their own thing. It's super chaotic. Forgotten Hollow or Strangerville is the best neighbourhood to do it in.
Another one is to find the person or family who wins the lottery in your game and move in and feed them pufferfish nigiri. I also started a legacy from the lottery winners giving their kids randomly generated amounts of money from the 1m simoleans to start their lives with.

I also really like aging townies up and giving them a makeover based on their randomized traits. Orange Bailey-Moon is now a buff, good-natured bro who wants to be a beekeeper (CC aspiration.)

An idea that's also quite twisted: family locked in the basement. You have a regular sim living their best life - nobody knows that there's an adult and their kids locked in the basement. the sim is keeping them there bc they're a sadist. Poor basement ppl live under the worst conditions. Bonus point if the sadist is the father/mother of the basement kids. Alternatively, you could have a sim/family live in a house unknowing that there are people locked in the basement.

Something I've been doing lately with the Foster Family mod is running a teen mother and baby unit. So it's designed for teens that have either run away from home or been kicked out when their parents learned they were pregnant. I set the Foster family mod up to only offer me teens, then when I have a teen come to stay with me, I'll set them as pregnant with MCCC (also, change their gender to female if the sim turns out to be male!). I have a large house set up with a communal kitchen, separate little units for each teen etc, and I'll lock the main doors so they can't go wandering off all the time (I'll usually give them a few hours a day when they're allowed free time outside the house). When they give birth, they're responsible for caring for their baby, and if the baby ends up being taken by social services, the teen has to move out of the house. I'll play as a 'warden' sim, so I'll try and help the teens with the babies, teach them skills, encourage them to do positive actions etc. If a teen cares for their baby well until it ages up into a child, I'll go to manage households and move the mom and child into their own little starter home. If I feel like giving myself a challenge, I'll give my sim the hates children trait and imagine she's only doing this job for the money she gets from the Foster family network!

A story I gave my sims in my legacy challange so far is
Gen 1: Wife and Husband going through rags to riches together and the husband became a bestselling author and the wife became a 5 star chef in Hope's to set their future generations off with a good start of life
Gen 2: Twin boys raised by the author and chef, one twin is a jock and the other is a nerd (kinda cliche I know, but I'm the one playing 😎). They grow up and the jock gets a wife and has a daughter, then the jock becomes an all-star athlete (I like to think he is in the NFL), and his wife runs a bakery. The nerd then becomes a celebrity gamer (with the get famous pack).
Gen 3: The daughter of the jock and baker becomes a pianist, writing her own songs, and is extremely prim and proper for her age. She wants to be as elegant with short hair as she can be.
That's how it's gone for me so far haha! So much fun giving them personalities and stories during legacy challanges, it makes me want to continue and not just start another new life with new sims!

I got the idea of making a doomsday preper when I saw the new ability to can things from the garden. I started out by building a basement to store all the canned goods, and then I decided to start a club where people could make speeches about the end of the world. It quickly escalated into a full blown cult. The members were cleaning his house and painting paintings for him to sell . After many despicable acts including harsh punishments and impregnating the female members, he locked everyone inside and set off fireworks. Some of the cult members survived, but now I’m playing as one of the children being raised by her surviving family, trying to get out from under the shadow of her very evil father

I read somewhere about the golddigger challenge! Basically just create a sim who is materialistic and romantic, and put them in a house with zero money. This sim will have a lot of boyfriends and girlfriends, the goal is to reach 1 million simoleons JUST BY MARRIAGE. You're not allowed to make painting and sell them, or garden stuff and sell, nothing like that. Your money will have to come from your husband/wife's family's savings. It's so fun to see the drama XD
