You inspired me to do this myself and it's a really fun challenge! You can get a pre-1970s car very rarely on the used car lots and you can even get one of the black Le Mans cars on the final week of the cycle. Can we get a series like this? Or similar? It’s such a brutal challenge that could be duplicated closely in a lot of racing games. Like tuning the best car you can get at a low level-or worst- and tuning it as far as possible for as far as it can get through the career. You could probably reach very high performance levels with fine tuning, although I’m sure the time to tune will be exponentially long, the further you go in a career… 🤪

While Gran Turismo 4 has a number of series that don't have any eligible used cars (the Sports Truck Race and various manufacturer events come to mind), I wonder if it's theoretically possible to beat GT4 using only used cars where possible. In the case of high level events like the World Championship, you could of course use the four black cars that show up at the end of the used cycle. Outside of the truck race and some manufacturer events, I can't think of any obvious races that don't allow any used cars. Also, I forgot about the DTM series. No used cars to use there.
If there was no restrictions like gt2 theoretically yes but you have to pick out a really good aerodynamic and light weight car to be competitive with prototypes if lets say you're impatient type. Waiting for the week for the secret black cars to come isnt going to happen sooner. Long story short. In theory if the game is less strict about what you do then yes it can happen especially if they had more trucks in used car dealership. Could thrown in the cyclone and typhoon in mix would be good options for used dearler if they get the rights to gmc.
once i found out the Costa di amalfi race gives you a Toyota that i can sell for 230k every time, i grinded that shit for like 50 times until i could afford anything i wanted in the game.
This challenge becomes really easy if you make it to day 694. You can get black versions of Mazda 797b, Nissan R92cp, nissan R390 or even the Toyota GT-ONE
from my experience the only race you cant get a car for is the truck race from the used dealerships. during the second year some late 60s cars spawn in one of the dealerships. also on day 694 the black cars appear in the early and late 90s showrooms r92cp, r390, 787b and GT-one.
remember, its not week 700, its the 100th week (day 693-day 700) that spawns the le mans cars. also, this cycle is on a 100 week cycle, so day 693-700, day 1393-1400 etc will have the le mans cars and by grinding licence, some races and the japan championship, you can get to the needed 6 mil (or 1.2 mil if you just want to get one car) by the time you reach day 693 i say 693 instead of 700 because, if you wait for day 700, and you buy a car, the shop will reset as day 701 will be counted as week 1
I'd have to rectify your line by saying the first iteration of the used car dealership in gran turismo started in the first game, although in gt3 it was missing, in the later titles it was stayed (until gt sport came out and they removed that mode again)
Note that buying/selling a car makes a day go by. Assuming you were already halfway to day 694 (the day the first "black cars" appear), buying and selling 150 cars would get you all the way there, and using cars that only cost 5k could be done quite cheaply too. Buying a 60s car is also possible in the 80s dealership.
You can get the black edition of the mazda 787B, Toyota GT one in used cars dealership for complete the GT world championship but this cars appear around day 690-700
I still need to save up to get the Escudo, it's so much harder to get money on GT3 than GT4, and it was already hard on GT4 (apart from the Capri Rally).
You can actually beat the game because I remember during my play through of the game that I actually got my car for the historic cup from the used car dealer I believe it was a mercury
As someone who started playing Gran Turismo Sport as their first Gran Turismo game and currently playing GT7, the car selection seen here makes me so sad. So many awesome cars that aren’t available in GT7
Very fun challenge indeed. Sometimes it’s more fun when you get a challenge than speedrunning all the races with a fast cars. I think it’s definitely okay to use the cars from the dealership if they won’t spawn in the used car deal as longest you don’t grind money on those levels 😉, I think you could have gotten further if you fully tuned your cars and found the best car for corners. Horsepower isn’t always everything, but I must say the weight reduction is definitely the most early op upgrade on any car, they feel like driving a formula car in corners & acceleration 😂
The first Gran Turismo game I really got into was GT2. I went through some of the license tests, but the first car I bought and really put to use was one of the used Toyota Supra. I don't remember which one it was, twin or single turbo, but that car got me through so much of the game and used it more than any other car. Good times.
Man, I miss this game. I don't have a working copy anymore and I'm scared to even look at how much it's going for in good condition these days. When my father gifted me a PS2 back in the day he went with the GT4 bundle because I had always loved cars since before I was really even old enough to comprehend what they were. I started with a CR-X Del Sol and loved every second of driving it, especially once I'd figured out what nitrous is. I was terrible at it because this was my first ever game on my first ever proper console, but I didn't care. Gran Turismo 4 will always have a special place in my heart.
Well, i've beated ALL the Special Condition Events with a used Lancer Evolution VII GT-A (MUST be this version of Evo VII, 'cause it has a special semi-auto gearbox, you can do some crazy gear reductions with it) Obviously it was highly-tuned with maximum power (550cv)
@@Gaming.Vids1 if you reduce gears without braking in any other car, it will "engage the clutch" automatically in the Lancer Evolution GT-A, when you reduce gears without braking, it doesn't engage the clutch, actually you'll have a "engine braking", you can brake more properly without lose rpm's trust me, that car is really good for these events, i won the Suzuki Escudo using the Evo GT-A
Are there any other cars like that in Gran Turismo 4 or any of the other games in the series? Are there any other cars with different cool things like that?
@@Gaming.Vids1 as far as i know, no There aren't any other car that can do this on any other game on the series (i just played from 1 to 4. 5, 6, Sport and 7 i didn't played)
@9:09 Yeah Dustin, but the most profitable race is a 2 stage special event, Amalfi Coast or something, because you win a rally car worth 265,000 credits.
I'm subscribing just to see you trying again with more research and after reading the comments. I'm pretty sure you can do this. I also hopped backed into GT4 and now I'll try to reach 100% completion for the first time. Or maybe like 50 or more.
the Mazda 110 also spawns in the historic dealership, build from 67-72 there are 3 models one can use to win the respective cup; also the Fiat 500 in various forms
A secondary comment: I came to think of a way to bend the rules a little: Try to see how far you will make it if you were to allow the purchase of a truck, as well as using a select few prize cars to circumvent the limitations of the races. 1. Any of the 4 purchaseable trucks are allowed to enter the Sport Truck Race 2a. There are certain prize cars available which are from the 1960's or earlier. 2b. On occasion, there are possibilities to obtain 60's cars in the Historic Showroom. These are the Mercury Cougar XR7, the various Fiat 500's, a '65 Nissan Silvia and a few others. 3. You can win a Le Mans car in the El Capitan endurance race (The Toyota Minolta 88C-V). Otherwise there are special versions of certain LMP racecars available between day 700 and 706, if you are willing to wait until then. You need around 2.25 million credits to buy one of them (or to buy all of them, you need around 9 million credits). In Showroom 1, you can find the Mazda 787B and Nissan R92CP, and in Showroom 2, you can find the Toyota GT-One and the Nissan R390GT1.
yo, eden, you can beat the game with only used cars (at least the majority of the races with em, thats includes the GT World Champ.) you only need hard tune some specific cars like the ZR1 C4 or the Dodge Viper GTS (this apply for a big bunch of cars, so take it easy) and obviouslly, use the warm up session to make a qualy time and start in 1st place the races in a championship.
I seem to remember being able to progress the game day and thus change the user car dealership by going onto license tests and pressing the next button
Like many before me has commented here. The used car dealership was a thing in the original Gran Turismo, as well as GT2. Unlike GT4 however, the used car listings were actually listed by the respective dealers, and not an all-in-one solution. The first game did feature many of its best (and fastest) cars in the used dealerships, such as the 1995 Supra RZ, the Nissan R33 GTR, the Mazda RX-7 Type-R and the Mitsubishi GTO MR. As for GT4, there were many pre-1970 models available in the historic showroom. Notably small sports cars like the Honda S500, S600 and S800, as well as the Mini, the various versions of the Fiat 500 and of course the Mercury "Mustang" XR-7 (Yes, since Mercury was a division of Ford, the Cougar shared its platform and most of the bodywork with the default Mustang, with the key difference being the front and rear ends having a more exclusive look on the Mercury, such as a uni-grill, flip-up headlights and larger tail-lights. Shelby later used the Mercury tail-lights on the GT500). Mind you that most of these cars appeared after a certain time threshold had been reached in the game. I have fond memories of the XR-7 being particularly good at the rally stages for some reason. Also, certain blacked out LMP racecars made an appearance in the used car dealership between day 700 and 706. These were the following models: Toyota GT-One, Nissan R390 GT1, Nissan R92CP and Mazda 787B, all of which could be used in GT World. But yes, the pick-up trucks are the only sub-class of cars that can not be bought used, therefore making this challenge impossible.
the Spec II mod adds the Daihatsu Midget to the Sports Truck Race, making this challenge actually possible to fully complete. also, you don’t need one of the “black cars” to finish GT Worlds, a maxed-out RX-7 FD is fast enough
You can just go to "Special Conditions" events, do the Costa di Amalfi races on easy mode, total of 4 laps, sell the prize car for 256.000 Cr. If you could get a new car, you could buy the Audi A4 Touring car, go to "European Events" and win the Deutsch Touring car something something in B-Spec mode and sell the prize car for more than 700.000 Cr. It is really easy to make big money in GT4
If you get to ingame day #692, 4 black cars will show up in the used car dealership. The Mazda 787, Nissan R92CP, Nissan R390 GT1 and the Toyota GT-ONE. With those cars you can beat any race ingame. All 4 of these cost a total of 8,300,000 credits and you can grind that money by doing the Rally Amalfi and selling the Toyota RSC Rally Raid Car.
Yes like many people said the used car feature was in the first game. But GT2 was where it was at with 600 cars. In total. Gt4 nailed it perfectly like GT2 did over GT1. Also the le man 'black edition' used cars spawn on week 99 (days 694 to 700) and uh yeah I think the Nissan R390 and Toyota gt-1 are still 3.6million credits.
doing the second special conditions race is easily the best way to grind credits. 2×2 Laps and you win a car you can sell for over 250k. thing is you can play it over and over again and you get the car every time. also you can get the shadow 787b, r92cp, r390 and gt one on the used car dealer ship to win the final tournament, but they are very rare.
This would be easily possible if you could get a used pickup truck to complete those races. As for the GT World Championship, when I first played GT4 I bought the used Mazda 787b and smashed the tournament. While it doesn't have the highest speed, it's tire wear and handling is brilliant. It's easily one of the quickest cars around most tracks
Hey, watching this again and I hope you revisit this challenge. I found out that you can make a road going car even faster than a race car if you tune it. PSL Racing has a series in tuning that can be useful for you to beat the GT championship. Also, you can money grind with the Capri Rally easy, selling the rally RSC for 265k cr each time. Edit: another thing, stealth cars are sold in the used car dealerships i think from day 680 something until day 700, those still count as used and you have to change the oil.
Short answer: Yes. The Black Cars that show up in the used car dealer at a specific time. That's really all you need to beat the game. They are as fast as anything else.
EDIT: I was informed the used car dealer made its debut in the first two GT games! I played the 2nd one only shortly so it slipped my mind, whoops! 😅

I’ve loved the GT series since i was 6. So this was refreshing to see. New sub
I should say it was a great content. Really enjoyed watching this!
2:02 Everyone Gangsta Until The Fact That Its A Pink Yaris In Disguise
This was so much fun to watch! I love GT4 with all my heart! 😊👍
from my experience the only race you cant get a car for is the truck race from the used dealerships. during the second year some late 60s cars spawn in one of the dealerships. also on day 694 the black cars appear in the early and late 90s showrooms r92cp, r390, 787b and GT-one.
I got a first generation PSP recently with a copy of GT, I play it almost every night and the nostalgia seriously never ends. Best racing games ever!
Just started watching your videos and gotta say I love your content . Also a huge gran turismo guy
remember, its not week 700, its the 100th week (day 693-day 700) that spawns the le mans cars. also, this cycle is on a 100 week cycle, so day 693-700, day 1393-1400 etc will have the le mans cars
and by grinding licence, some races and the japan championship, you can get to the needed 6 mil (or 1.2 mil if you just want to get one car) by the time you reach day 693
i say 693 instead of 700 because, if you wait for day 700, and you buy a car, the shop will reset as day 701 will be counted as week 1
I'd have to rectify your line by saying the first iteration of the used car dealership in gran turismo started in the first game, although in gt3 it was missing, in the later titles it was stayed (until gt sport came out and they removed that mode again)
In GT6 they removed it aswell
i like to see the pink vitz still being referenced
sehr vitzig
Note that buying/selling a car makes a day go by. Assuming you were already halfway to day 694 (the day the first "black cars" appear), buying and selling 150 cars would get you all the way there, and using cars that only cost 5k could be done quite cheaply too. Buying a 60s car is also possible in the 80s dealership.
Seeing the Nike One is a nice blast from the past, especially seeing the model year
You can get the black edition of the mazda 787B, Toyota GT one in used cars dealership for complete the GT world championship but this cars appear around day 690-700
I am honestly shocked at how well this game has held up graphically. Can tell they really put the effort in.
Graphics improvement. It doesn’t naturally look that good.
@@xaf0163 I have played the game vanilla and I stand by the statement. I mean it doesn't look like it was made last week, but it still holds up well.
@@Person01234 maybe it's something on my emulator then, because it looks pretty rough for me.
The sportsmanship is strong with this one
that toyota rally truck farm of money was so gold.... i miss old gt games!!
First time viewing the channel, definitely subscribed and I definitely need to play through the GT series!
I remember beating GT3 using only 2 cars: a Lancer evolution all maxed out, and then when I had enough money I bought a Suzuki Escudo lol
The escudo was ridiculous
I still need to save up to get the Escudo, it's so much harder to get money on GT3 than GT4, and it was already hard on GT4 (apart from the Capri Rally).
Capri Rally is a vibe. I don’t Know how many times I used the 200k+ credit exploit.
Sport truck challenge, the bane of all Gran Turismo 4 challenge run
You can actually beat the game because I remember during my play through of the game that I actually got my car for the historic cup from the used car dealer I believe it was a mercury
I am playing through it again , and again , an absolute joy 👍👍👍👍
This is the content that I need
We need more Gran Turismo challenmge videos like this!
As someone who started playing Gran Turismo Sport as their first Gran Turismo game and currently playing GT7, the car selection seen here makes me so sad. So many awesome cars that aren’t available in GT7
I bought a backwards compatible 60GB PS3 to play loads of PS2 games. Gt4 is 10 times more fun than GT Sport.
seeing it say Mazda 6 " concept " is such a throwback
Thats the life of a racecar driver/street racer. Race, build/tune, win, sell, repeat.
Love the sax song at the end. sooo good.
I just finished a 100% playthrough of this game. Really getting interested in your channel!
Eden and his prize cars vs The eBay vehicle selling market
Never seen a better tire heating mechanics since then
You can buy a Daihatsu Midget-II for Sport Trucks Race and Fiat 500 for World Classics from used car dealerships. But great video, thank you :)
GT 2 and 4 are the only ones I own physical copies of. So many fond memories with both
Two used cars i used a lot: Nissan 300zx (over 800 hp fully tuned) and the Lexus GS 91 (good sleeper, 700/800 hp!)
When I played GT5 MOST of my cars that I had were used lol. I thought of it as giving them a second chance
Well, i've beated ALL the Special Condition Events with a used Lancer Evolution VII GT-A (MUST be this version of Evo VII, 'cause it has a special semi-auto gearbox, you can do some crazy gear reductions with it)
Obviously it was highly-tuned with maximum power (550cv)
Can you be more specific about what you did please? What do you mean by gear reductions?
@@Gaming.Vids1 if you reduce gears without braking in any other car, it will "engage the clutch" automatically
in the Lancer Evolution GT-A, when you reduce gears without braking, it doesn't engage the clutch, actually you'll have a "engine braking", you can brake more properly without lose rpm's
trust me, that car is really good for these events, i won the Suzuki Escudo using the Evo GT-A
@@JBoyGBR Thanks for the info. I'll have to give it a try.
Are there any other cars like that in Gran Turismo 4 or any of the other games in the series? Are there any other cars with different cool things like that?
@@Gaming.Vids1 as far as i know, no
There aren't any other car that can do this on any other game on the series (i just played from 1 to 4. 5, 6, Sport and 7 i didn't played)
I saw that Honda Civic in the thumbnail and it's making think... cool vibrations.
the Mazda 110 also spawns in the historic dealership, build from 67-72 there are 3 models one can use to win the respective cup; also the Fiat 500 in various forms
Fun fact: the historic used car showroom is called 80s showroom in the pal version which makes it very confusing when classic cars appeared in it.
If I remember correctly the Capri Rally in the special condition events gives you a car that can be sold for around 280k or something like that
A secondary comment:
I came to think of a way to bend the rules a little:
Try to see how far you will make it if you were to allow the purchase of a truck, as well as using a select few prize cars to circumvent the limitations of the races.
1. Any of the 4 purchaseable trucks are allowed to enter the Sport Truck Race
I miss this game so much exactly for this option
in a future video can you try to beat Gt4 without ever using a Japanese car?
yo, eden, you can beat the game with only used cars (at least the majority of the races with em, thats includes the GT World Champ.) you only need hard tune some specific cars like the ZR1 C4 or the Dodge Viper GTS (this apply for a big bunch of cars, so take it easy) and obviouslly, use the warm up session to make a qualy time and start in 1st place the races in a championship.
I seem to remember being able to progress the game day and thus change the user car dealership by going onto license tests and pressing the next button
Yes totally yes...
That's why I love that game
Can you complete the game using only prize cars? If so, what about the extra events like manufacturer cups?
sports trucks race would once again stop this
the Spec II mod adds the Daihatsu Midget to the Sports Truck Race, making this challenge actually possible to fully complete. also, you don’t need one of the “black cars” to finish GT Worlds, a maxed-out RX-7 FD is fast enough
Oh yes the Lancer Evo, I think I started every single playthrough with that thing. Lasted quite a while with a few upgrades
This would make for a great challenge series
You can just go to "Special Conditions" events, do the Costa di Amalfi races on easy mode, total of 4 laps, sell the prize car for 256.000 Cr. If you could get a new car, you could buy the Audi A4 Touring car, go to "European Events" and win the Deutsch Touring car something something in B-Spec mode and sell the prize car for more than 700.000 Cr. It is really easy to make big money in GT4
Do it in GT5. Pick Ups and Classics do spawn in the used car dealership there.
7:40 "I went into that championship with more money than I have now, after that championship"
Welcome to racing bud lol
If you get to ingame day #692, 4 black cars will show up in the used car dealership. The Mazda 787, Nissan R92CP, Nissan R390 GT1 and the Toyota GT-ONE. With those cars you can beat any race ingame. All 4 of these cost a total of 8,300,000 credits and you can grind that money by doing the Rally Amalfi and selling the Toyota RSC Rally Raid Car.
Unless the events require American/European cars.
0:16 Me who just straight getting the prize cars from license and missions to progress in career...
Thanks for the video, give me new strategy to finish my gt 4
doing the second special conditions race is easily the best way to grind credits. 2×2 Laps and you win a car you can sell for over 250k. thing is you can play it over and over again and you get the car every time. also you can get the shadow 787b, r92cp, r390 and gt one on the used car dealer ship to win the final tournament, but they are very rare.
How about trying to beat it using only prize cars?
Nice one man. Can you do gt5 next for this Challenge? Keep up the good work 😂👍
This would be easily possible if you could get a used pickup truck to complete those races.
Nice challenge. Nostaugic
Short answer: Yes. The Black Cars that show up in the used car dealer at a specific time. That's really all you need to beat the game. They are as fast as anything else.
New challenge idea. How many events can be finished with used cars only?
