@grahamturner1290 not gonna lie... whilst perusing this brilliant back catalog for stories I may have missed, Walpoling activities were exactly why I chose this one. But then I came over all peckish
Firstly, the piano outro is beautiful. I left a like and comment on the artist's channel.❤ Now. Hugh Walpole is genius. He truly is master of capturing the finest intricacies and complexities of the human psyche. That could have been me in this story. Do men feel and behave like this? I have seriously always believed it a 'woman thing'. Beautiful story, beautiful production. Thank you 💕
This is Excellent! All credit to Walpole, I believe you could narrate the alphabet in such a creepy and menacing way that children and innocents would tremble and cry uncontrollably.
(Edward St. John Gorey’s alphabet soup, I suggest.) ;-) ;-) surreal suggestionZ by a narrative macabre timbre in time and timing...so lovely we lust for more...
It's gone midnight where I am. The winter wind is howling around outside and helping to get ne in the mood for a proper, traditional December full of ghost stories. And this year it will all be leading tp to the Encrpted special on Christmas Eve. It doesn't get much better than this.
A wonderful cautionary tale. Thank you for the gift of your voice in sharing. I know it’s not snowing, and no longer Christmas time, but somehow the tale is still classic and timeless. Spooky;) love from 🇺🇸
OMG, this is perfect for this time of the year. I’ve had to listen to it in 4 parts. Your voice is simply perfect - you should get yourself an agent- a cross between Vincent Price, Richard Burton and a pint of Guinness. Thank you for sharing your skills with us. 😀
Frost on the cars, a d on the ground...eerie tale for a Winter's Eve, have a relaxing and spooky, and interesting time. This is a good story for a Winter night, x
It’s dark outside, the wind is blowing hail against the window, I’m curled up opposite a flickering fire. In other words the perfect setting to listen to another beautifully narrated Jasper Lestrange ghostly tale. You have an amazing voice and a talent for narrating women without making them sound shrill. 📖
The psychology of this story is perfect ... *Walpole* knew how to capture it & *listening* is the way to properly experience these chilling tales ... as usual the sound effects are perfectly timed w/ proper narration as cold as the falling snow ... *TY Jasper L'Estrange* 👍❄👍❄👍❄👍❄👍❄☠☠☠❄❄❄
I love this story! I know it's terribly mean and catty, but it couldn't have happened to a nicer person :). ( Nothing is more detestable than those who create needless drama; unfortunately, there's never a good ghost around when one needs one. 🤔
It seems to be an untapped market! We have all kinds of people who are Ghostbusters now ( or at least ghost identifiers; they show up and after putting them up, paying expenses and feeding them, they say, Yup! You've got ghosts!) What we need is something like Rent a Ghost; a rather obstreperous, intimidating poltergeist with an attitude you can book to send to the house of that nasty manager you have, or those obnoxious neighbors next door. Wouldn't that be great? Even if it wasn't actually a real spirit; if you can sneak bugs and cameras into people's houses, perhaps some kind of hologram technology. OK, all you techie people out there! Someone needs to get on this idea!
Sorry, don't get your name, i can can't read to well, but seeing actors in film, an listen to and see the way they move, then i can put it all together. 👍👍
"...she was young , healthy , bald ". BALD ?!? Wow , Alice was really ahead of her time .... there were not a lot of women rockin' that look back in the day ! Lol I hope she enjoyed her Christmas gift from Eleanor , but I bet it left her cold ! Heh-heh ! Well , it couldn't have happened to a nicer gal ! 💀🎱💀
Did I say "bald"? I meant to say "bold" 🤣. Actually, I left out the bit where it's mentioned Alice was part of an anarcho-punk collective and that's how she met Herbert 😁
@@annetteeggett2802 This it? ruclips.net/video/Dg8zxMFK9LU/видео.html Some of these are a bit cheeky, copyright-wise. I'll investigate. I did actually record the Midnight Express (as a bonus story for patreons/channel members). Cheers for the suggestions.
The first of a season of "festive" frighteners. Hope you enjoy. If you do, spare a thought for the narrator and throw him a LIKE and a COMMENT...
Thanks
Thank you so much for the Super Thanks 🙏
Jolly good! And now I shall curtail my Walpoling activities and sally forth to a place of purveyance... 😎

Impossible to have any sympathy for that self-centered female. Got what she deserved. Great job with the reading, as always, Jasper. 😊
We had our first snow last night and it continues today, with high winds.
We had a bit of snow this morning too. Time to batten down the hatches.
