Not the most straightforward self-mill/sac combo but the colours and counter synergy open up some interesting avenues for the supporting framework. I'm into it.
It is a puzzle commander, that reminds me of Ghave, in the sense that you can find yourself comboing off even when you don't mean too. There is also a whole land package concept where you sac your own lands and bring back lands that tap for lots of mana like Gaea's Cradle and Shrine of Nyxthos, but I didn't want to get into all that.
My tayam currently has tayam and filth as the only 4+ Mana value cards in the deck I usually rack up counters/ cards in graveyard until I can get the devoted remedies for infinite G Then it's just a matter of counters Phantom tiger, evolution sage, oathsworn knight, or either karlov or wall of limbs with soul sisters Eventually you get kaya's ghostform onto renegade rallier and your sac outlet of choice If you already have wall of limbs, you get that big enough, otherwise bastion of remembrance And soul sisters works great with vito or vizkopa guildmage ( Either recur lands/rocks for B,W requirements or find a prismite) The deck's pretty resilient, the only issue is exile, which is why I run riftsweeper A good backup for abzan ascendancy is golgari germination
I know this is late but you can remove the time counters as cost to activate tayam then sac in response to haveing no time counters before it dies to net game some value.
Dude. To be honest. I like the caller of the claw combo. And the Cathars Crusade combo. Toss in Queen Ayula for more counters and fight triggers. Turn opponents lands into creatures and let those bears eat. Lol reap that honey from the land.
Extremely awesome King!!! as always. I was also thinking that you could help yourself with Ghave, Guru of Spores to create more tokens or put more counters on your creatures or trigger the colorless mana combos you mentioned.
I finally got my Tayam deck put together. I'm focusing on a lands matters strategy with cards like Life and Limb and Nature's Revolt to change lands into creatures. In addition to Ashnod's Altar I'll be able to use Lotus Cobra to really generate mana!
Nice! Yeah there is the whole land combo aspect to Tayam as well. i've seen some pretty crazy deck ideas with saccing Gaea's Cradle then bringing it back etc, but didn't want to talk for another 5 minutes about a 5 card combo. There is a lot going on with Tayam, and the higher number of cards you allow in a combo, makes Tayam combo potential exponentially grow.
yeah, you can build Tayam nightmare tribal if you wanted too. But atleast people know these combos if they want to build this way, or know what could come from other Tayam players.
As Lucas said, those cards can help put cards back into the deck, but also since Tayam's ability causes you to Mill and it is not part of the cost, you can activate it even when your library is empty, and there is no downside. You should be able to win the game with any of these loops if you bring back kill pieces and continue the loops. But if you don't win that turn, you'll lose on your next draw step, OR if an opponent forces you to draw.
The classic "oof" gets me every time 🤣
Man, your videos are awsome! You made me want to build a Tayam deck.
Hope you'll be soon back with more jank and combos!

Thank you king of jank, very cool!

Perfect video for me looking for ideas for an Abzan deck :D

nicely explained!

Thanks! Yeah Tayam seems to be a more puzzling version of Ghave. Lots of combo potential, but you have to work for it.
I finally got my Tayam deck put together. I'm focusing on a lands matters strategy with cards like Life and Limb and Nature's Revolt to change lands into creatures. In addition to Ashnod's Altar I'll be able to use Lotus Cobra to really generate mana!

This thing can probably also do funny things with Midnight Guard.
I mean you're not wrong, but Tayam is not EXCLUSIVELY a combo commander, you can build aristocrats/enchantress/hatebears/lands there's a lot to it
yeah, you can build Tayam nightmare tribal if you wanted too. But atleast people know these combos if they want to build this way, or know what could come from other Tayam players.
Do you have a decklist? Nice video!
No decklist unfortunately. I'm in the process of making "decklists" that contain each shown card for each combo video, but I'm not finished yet.
@@KingofJank thanks!
thank you for showing me why I shouldn't run this deck
How do you stop yourself from milling out? Three cards to your graveyard every loop...
Elixir effects, Kozilek or winning during the turn you pop off should make self-milling fairly safe.

You dont need cards in your library to activate tayam
Sadly however cool this combo is it's hard to pull off in cEDH. Too telegraphed.
honestly can't remember if I said cEDH playable in the video, but if I did I might have been a bit excited.
@@KingofJank you didn't, but it's on the cEDH database for some reason.
