Lawyer failed him. No way he thought he would convicted of the charges with how the trial was going. If it didn't lead to a mistrial with prejudice or a not guilty verdict, then they could have easily been overturned on an appeal. Way too much prosecutorial misconduct from the State for either of those 3 outcomes not to be the case. By taking a plea, you basically are doing the prosecutions job for them, when it was clear as day they didn't have a solid case. None of them had any business taking a plea.

All that is true but then you also have to look at how much financial resource he had left to afford the lawyer if trial continued for at least 6 months. I think part of the states strategy was prolonging the case to deplete them of their financial resources, panic and take plea deals

He might be out of money, but this trial will be IMHO, Overturned on Appeal for Judges and DA's misconducts throughout this trial. judge Glanville should have been Disbarred and investigated for his actions. We know this trial has shown how DA's office was poorly operated and had help from multiple Judges including this one.

    • @Keenan-b7q

That doesn't mean it's directly attributable to them locking these men up. Your comment insinuates that they were the primary cause of crime in the city. Also, you didn't specify what type of crimes that has decreased and associated it with the charges they were indicted on. So I don't see the causation.

You can’t be sure. You heard all the witnesses who have been on the stand talking about why they took a plea. You cannot trust that a jury will understand what “beyond a reasonable doubt” really means. If people understood, all of these people in the insane cases we watch every single day wouldn’t be found guilty. Look at the Karen Read case. Every day people trust the DA and will always see a defendant as guilty until proven innocence instead of innocent until proven guilty.
