Bad brains is a massively underrated band. They are one of only 2 bands that I can listen to so many albums without skipping a song. They are multidimensional, anti-genre punk-core band. Every album sound different.
The Bad Brains had a huge influence on Punk, Hardcore, Rock and Grunge. You can heard the influence in everyone from Rage Against the Machine, Nirvana, System of the Down, and even Lil Jon and the Eastside Boyz. Dave Grohl admitted that the drums from the beginning of Smells Like Teen Spirit was lifted from a Bad Brains song.
im 56 from Virginia Beach. Bad Brains, Minor threat, The Candysnatchers... The start of East coast hardcore Punk. Look up the documentaries on them. We where all about UNITY and EQUALITY!! what great time. All songs still relevant in todays politics!!!
This band is prolific a few times over, they basically created a subgenre (hardcore) and set the standard. Many bands worked hard to incorporate their experimental sound since it was so aligned with punk. I dont pretend to be an expert, but Beastie Boys (BB) were originally a punk band and their name is homage to Bad Brains (BB).
facts. MCA and the bass player had a band after the beasties first album. They were called Brooklyn the demos are one RUclips included a version of gratitude 15 years before it was released.
You should check out *The White Mandingos* "The Ghetto Is Tryna Kill Me" its Daryl Jennifer from the Bad Brains ((bass) with Muirs rapping. or *The White Mandingos* - My First White Girl (Official Video) also With Muirs. Bad Brains a 4 guys. Dr. Know, HR (Human Rights), Daryl Jennifer and HR's brother. This is very early 1980's NYC Hardcore but they are from DC. They are pretty famous and were one of the first acts to show the Beastie Boys some love before they were rapping.

Underrated by who??. You mean by all MAJOR artist from Beastie Boys to Jeff Buckley?
@@Georgeanne17 It seems that they're not recognised or appreciated enough by, APART FROM MUSICIANS, that's what I meant.
"Avantgarde" is underrated? And we all know it's not even close to Avantgarde.

Legendary band, skin color means nothing. It’s what’s in your head and you’re heart 🤘🏻
The godfathers of Hardcore Punk, plus a good reggae band.
One of the best punk bands ever.

Wouldn't go as far as saying they created hardcore but one of the foundations for sure
YES!!! THE BEAT OF BLACK AMERICAN EXPRESSION IS SO GLORIOUS RIGHT?!?!?!
Try Death, Misfits, Rancid/Operation Ivy, and Dropkick Murphys
Seriously you’re like the only guy doing punk
You should dig deeper if you are investigating punk rock. Bad Brains (however) are one of my favorites. One of the best bands to see live.
Bad Brains is good stuff. The lyrics are actually kinda deep too.
Yea...we got that P.M.A
That PMA was before they got on a Rasta vibe. If you have never seen the documentary Band in DC you should check it out.

Liking the beat but your head bounces to a beat that’s not there, lol. Bad Brains forever! HR forever!
