Dude, check out A Band Called Death....maybe the FIRST true American punk band(The Stooges) but also unique is that they are 3 African American siblings making music so different than what was going on at Motown

They also inspired the Beastie Boys. They were such big fans they chose their name to have the same initials as them, “BB”.
Lil Jon was a skater as a teenager and was a huge Bad Brains fan and they influenced Crunk. He even helped to grt the band back to together to record a song on his Crunk Juice album.
3 friends in the 3 early 80s went to a Bad Brains one night. After the dhow the decided to form a Punk band with a similar name. They called themselves the Beastie Boys.

Love Bad Brains. I'm old enough to have bought these albums when they came out in high school. Completed my punk phase to this day.
Bad Brains is my favorite band of all time. HR remains a huge inspiration.

You might be interested in researching the early British punk scene because it was heavily influenced by Reggae. The poor punk kids hung out with the poor black kids. The poor punk kids learned about Reggae and Ska from them. There are a ton of great documentaries out there. The BBC Punk Britannia series is a good place to start. There's also a separate thread where the 50'a American Rock N Roll musicians like Chuck Berry and Bo Diddley made a lot of money in England playing to British teenagers. Punk rock is musical expression in its rawest form, let it all out!!
They considered themselves to be Rastas but they are not Jamaican. They got into reggae after seeing a Bob Marley show at MSG. The did get a little strange and started speaking with a Jamaican accent for a bit.
H.R. and Earl Hudson are born to Jamaican mother and American father didn't they?

My dude, Blues and Rock n roll was invented by Black folks. BTW when you listen to the structure of Punk songs it's basically 50s Rock/Rockabilly but more aggressive and distorted .
