Beastie Boys called the Bad Brains the best band in the world. The development the band made is spectecular. From being one of the earliest really fast Hardcore punk bands, also writing and playing excellent reggae songs, taking the groove into metal with the I Against I album already in 1987 with a top notch production by Ron St. Germain, they were always leading the way. Love them. Also after all the vinyl, bad Brains was the first CD, that I ever bought, back in 1993.

We took about 400 cans of beer with(cause it, s very cheap here) but only one music tape-the first,, Bad Brains".. So it burned into my head😄😄.. But still love this Band today. (hope you could understand, my English)..?

they're not Jamaican, they are black dudes from D.C. They are indeed rastas, but that developed from their love of reggae, which they got into after fusion and punk.

Black dots had a huge influence on Dave Grohl, the band began to be inspired by Bob Marley and the philosophy of the Rastafarian faith, their music truly is beautiful

The reason you hear SOAD and RATM is because Bad Brains influenced them and most metal, punk and alternative bands of the 80s, 90’s and 00’s. Several major artists will proudly proclaim they were influenced by the Bad Brains

Thanks wave for answering my request. You are right about the compression.
This band never got to mainstream (was almost there), but musicians, bands loved this relatively unknown band.
Drummer from Nirvana Dave Grohl was influenced by Earl Hudson from Rock for Light album era and as you picked, rage against the machine is amongst few dozens of major bands cite them as their artistic influence.
Rise album (1993) is probably their most balanced album that covers 90% of their diverse sound, and the sound is more polished and approachable. You'll see how other bands got inspiration from this band very clearly.
I think the Brains are the most obscure, yet most influencial, important band in music history in my personal opinion.
If you are interested, check out this album in your spare time. Have a lovely weekend and thanks again for reacting to one of my most favourite bands.❤

in regard to the sound quality. This is all analogue. The vinyl album is mastered for stereo sets and the official video was remastered/compressed for the video to sound good when being played over the simple speakers of analogue TV sets. Also the actual video tape has a smaller dynamic range than the vinyl album. I would guess that someone digitalized the bad sound from an old video tape to load it up on youtube. There you have it. I actually like the video better, because the sound is fatter, but this is only me.

Definitely NOT Nu-metal..never were. Straight all-time champions. SOOOOOO important in the development of a variety of genres...punk, hardcore, metal etc. Their influence can not be overstated. They were DC area punks, and jazz lovers, who discovered Rastafarianism, which heavily influenced HR's vocals...I mean, he's NOT Jamaican, but certainly adopted some of the vocal affectations. Anyway, the have a massive massive impact on music after them.
