Great song but why change persons in the chorus? Verses have first person singular (I and my) to third person singular (His and Him) then chorus changes to first person plural (our) singing to second person singular (Your) and third person singular (His). Why not stay with first person singular (I and my) to third person? (His) That way I am singing about my Saviour all the way through!
As Marty said, it's both a personal and a congregational song. Faith is private, but it is also practiced in a community and this songs expresses this beautifully.
I hate to disagree with you but even in congregational praise it is still a personal thing and you can NEVER presuppose another's heart or relationship. I still think it should stay in the first person to the second person. Let everyone sing to God (Jesus) personally...I cast MY mind to Calvary, where JESUS bled and died for ME... (I to Jesus for me) Chorus: O praise the name of the Lord MY God: O praise His name forever more For endless days I will sing HIS praise; Oh Lord, oh Lord MY God, more rightly, it should give God a name to identify HIM...Oh Lord, oh Lord JESUS. Just my thoughts as I am a stickler for proper English usage and Christian enough to know that there are many gods that are worshiped, so WE should always pray in the name of JESUS and identify Him as OUR object of worship. The song is still delivering a powerful message, but the chorus is wrong, wrong, wrong. It starts out saying "praise THE name" then switches to "praise HIS name" then to "sing YOUR praise." Bless you.
I think a great example for worship songs is found in Psalms, and there are plenty of places there where it is a congregational, corporate song, so there will be plenty of first person plural (our, we, etc) being used. What are your thoughts about that?
You are right about the Psalms but there are always 2 different peoples in the Bible...Jews and Gentiles... an example is in salvation requirement in Acts 2:38 where Peter asks in the name of the Jews "What must WE do?" where Paul in Acts 16:30 shows that the gentiles are individuals, not corporately the wife of the Father, and ask individually "What must I do?" You will also note that in the OT many times the prophets intercede and pray for Israel as a people, again they are the bride of the Father, and after acceptance, we are the betrothed of the SON.
Marty kissed Christianity goodbye. this happens when one is not genuinely converted and not a true believer of God's word (not to mention a theologically unsound church like Hillsong church)
Talvez Marty tenha se afastado porque entendeu que esse Cristianismo de Roma que foi passado pra nós não tem nada a ver com o Evangelho que o homem q foi morto no madeiro ensinava.

So crazy to hear Marty talking about how he “didn’t know what happened” in that “God moment”. How ironic. He can come back if he wants to.
Deus é fiel. ..
And now Marty's not a Christian. I still think this is a good song.

Maybe you should try being less judgemental and just pray for him as a brother in the Lord. Too much to ask?
Never judge. Everyone struggles. 🙏

Pray for him. That’s your true ministry , intercession. Even Jesus ever lives making intercession for all of us. Hebrews 7:25
