This is my favourite horn solo EVER - from your fellow cellist
Thank you so much! It’s my favourite too
@@rosemarryyang delicious performance..my jealous soul
@@charliethomas6317 thank you!
1st violins rarely say that another instrument is the best reason to hear a piece, but this solo is my favorite part of the Tchaikovsky 5th. The horn also adds subtle beauty to Elgar's Nimrod Variation.
Wow, everything about this is so on point. Honestly a better interpretation and more solid performance than some of the pros. Great job, thanks for sharing!
Thank you so much! I really appreciate your comments 😊
When I saw this reel on instagram I immediately went searching for a longer video!

One of my favorite solos from one of my favorite Symphony's. As a clarinet player the opening of mvt 1 is a players dream.

Интересное исполнение, красивое звучание инструмента, но особенно удивил темп, мне показалось он был быстроват

Thanks so much Geoff! I am so lucky to have had you around during my early years of horn playing. Your expertise has definitely shaped and influenced me as a player 😊
Marvellous. Greetings from the UK
Thank you! And hello from Australia 😊
What a beautiful performance for such a classic piece! Wish I could play that well one day. Any advice for a horn player trying for auditions?
As a horn player, I say make sure you have air control and make sure your in tune
Beautiful.

Чайковский рулит!
良かったですね。ホルンを演奏する人にとって、Symphony No. 5 Horn Soloパートは何度でも聴衆の前で鳴らしてみたいものです。
Thank you!
Brava bellisima!
Thank you!
Nice
Thank you!
Rose how long would you say it took you to learn this solo? You did a great job.
Thank you! I first played this excerpt when I was 10, where I learnt it for an exam. This was my first time performing it with the orchestra as an orchestral work. It is really hard to put a time on how much I practiced this since over time, with maturity and understanding, my interpretation has changed. I definitely spent days practicing certain areas and corners of the excerpt though!
🌈❤️💐❤️💐❤️💐💐
I’m going to be performing this for a talent contest. Have any tips?
Be confident in yourself, know the solo well so you can have good contact with the conductor, and just play your heart out 😊
As a child aged, I think, about seven or eight, some eighty years ago I remember hearing this for the first time as background music in a film which featured Henry Fonda. It made such an impression on me that I have enjoyed so much classical music ever since. But I cant remember anything about the film, just the horn solo. Can anyone tell me the name of the film?
I have no idea but film but that’s amazing to know! I’m so glad this solo has left an impression on you, because it definitely has on me
@@rosemarryyang Tchaikovsky, such emotional music, remained a favourite for me over the years and at stressful moments has reduced me to tears at time with the depth of its feeling.
How do you get that beautiful horn sound? When I play it sounds more like a euphonium
Thank you for liking my sound! Keep working on it. With time, practice, and getting to know your own instrument and playing, you’ll develop your own beautiful sound ☺️ best of luck!
@@rosemarryyang thank you! I really appreciate it!
Inspired John Denver’s “Annie’s Song.”

Listen with Alessio Alegrini.
Not easy
How fast is the tempo? Seems rather fast to me?
Every conductor has right of way with tempo. I take whatever speed the conductor wants.
@@rosemarryyang Oh ok! You played it really nicely anyways! I looking to play this for an audition!
How hard is it to get into the Uni of Melbourne?
Depends on your audition 😊
good job!
Thank you!!
