Kentaro gave us the roadmap to struggle properly:
1- Forge meaningful friendships rooted in reciprocity.
2 - Be willing to learn from capable allies.
3 - Be willing to teach to those who would truly listen.
4 - Confront evil fearlessly, within yourself and others.
    5 - Carry a big fuckin Sword.

I woke up to this news and wished I was still dreaming. Sadly, though, I was not.
I've been reading Berserk for 15 years now, it's accompanied me for more than half my life and shaped it quite much.
It's heartbreaking to see such a talented artist suffer such a premature death. He definitely massacred himself with work, sleeping very little, taking close to no pauses during his earliest career. He went from an extreme, this one, to another, the year-long hiatuses (and they were fairly understandable).
All that stress probably caused his death.
I believe that Berserk's greatest lessons have been taught already: we humans are capable of bearing immense burdens and keep struggling on.
Berserk is not just dark fantasy and horror: it's a tragedy, and a cathartic one.
We, as readers, tossed our expectations onto Miura-san, "like a bonfire of dreams". Now the tragedy is onto us, and it's our time to band together and struggle.
Miura's legacy will live on forever

@facts overmarxism misinformation? I'm a medic, a neurologist to be more precise, and I know my good share of cardiology. Are you one too?
I could keep this argument going for ages, given my knowledge on the subject, but I'd rather have you admit "I'm the average man who Googles about medical stuff" and cut it short there out of respect for this comment section.

    • @ordnaelshideout
      @ordnaelshideout 3 года назад +4

@facts overmarxism ROFL. You're the average "I ask Google for medical stuff" jerk who understands nothing of what he reads (you can't even write properly and/or take the time needed to fix your mistakes, so... that tells a lot already).
You're so uneducated you even posted an article about the complications of acute aortic dissection that said nothing about its causes (thus didn't help you at all in proving the stupid point you're trying to make).
From a quick Google search I did for you (let me translate the results in a language understable by a brainless guy like you): the main causes of ACUTE aortic dissection are atherosclerosis, hypertension, aortic aneurysms, aortic inflammation, congenital anomalies, acquired valvular pathologies.
Surprise surprise: most of those are CHRONIC pathologies. One doesn't develop atherosclerosis overnight nor gets an acute aortic dissection because of a sudden hypertension spike (if that's not something that happens chronically).
To believe an acute aortic dissection is totally unrelated to any other pre-existing illnesses is utterly ridiculous.
Miura's assistant talked about his recent years. Miura himself talked horribly about the years before that.
Surprise surprise pt2: not all damage you do to your body magically vanishes once you halt the cause of damage. Some stays with you forever and may well cause your death when you least expect it.
Miura's assistant says he was on a strict diet and used to exercise? That tells me nothing. Miura was worried about his health conditions and might well have been on a diet and exercising in order to prevent them becoming worse.
P.S. I get nothing for the likes I receive on comments. I'm not advertising my services: it's not like I'd tell you my number, not even the nationality. I wouldn't even have said I'm a neurologist hadn't you started pretending you knew anything about cardiology-angiology (for your information, we neurologists know quite much about it because, have you ever heard about cerebrovascular diseases...?).

@facts overmarxism It really doesn't, what they are saying is true. You are wrong and also an ass for trying to start an argument over something like this right now. Please re-evaluate what you say and if it is worth it.

    • @ordnaelshideout
      @ordnaelshideout 3 года назад +3

@@blank2736 never heard of misdiagnosed illnesses? Like those relatives who say "my father/grandpa/whatever was healthy up to a couple of months ago, then they found metastases everywhere in his body and he passed away in a month": it's not as if they appeared out of thin air, the primary cancer was misdiagnosed.
Miura-sensei was no luckier: the chronic illness he suffered from was misdiagnosed, which allowed an acute event to cause his death. An acute aortic dissection doesn't just happen: Miura had either one or more of those chronic illnesses I listed in a previous comment.

I'll give you my thoughts and feelings in german. I'm just so shocked, my english wouldn't be any good:

I can try ....if somebody has anything to add to this pls let me know, i tried my best.
Those are the rough translated words of "Patrick K-Night-Crow S":
I am not exaggerating, When your own souls feels like it has been turned off, any kind of joyful and happy thoughts just melting and vanishing.
it is a strange feeling.. I have never met this man, he probably never knew i excisted... Yet he and his work have inspired me in so many ways... All i feel right now is this "emptyness" inside.
The descision they have made, letting his family and friends saying their fare wells before releasing the news to the public, was in my eyes a good thing.
I am sure there are thousands of questions open torwards the future of "Berserk"...
But one thing i really wish right now for "Miura-sama", wherever hey may be now, Nothing but peace and free of despair and sorrow.
His work, his legacy Immortalised through sheer admiration and gratitude.

Damn, you all actually made me tear up watching this. I got into Berserk a few years ago. As a casual anime fan, I never dove too deep into the realm and didnt even know what a manga was. I did love my Dark Souls games though and over and over saw people making Berserk comments and references. So I watched the 97 anime hear on RUclips and was 100% blind. I was blown away by the story and was shocked how long it stayed with me after viewing the last episode. I have since read the manga, my first ever manga. Crunchyroll and Funimation are now mainstays on all my devices. I've watched and loved Hunter X Hunter, My Hero Academia, Haikyu and many more. My current go to highlight piece of weekly entertainment is the new Ace of Diamond chapter. All these GREAT stories, characters, and places I now enjoy are all because of Berserk. Despite my love of the Souls games, Im not good at them. I never intended to play the DLC, but I had too do a Guts playthrough and beat Gael. I have experienced and loved so many things because of the world Berserk exposed me too. Thank You Kentaro Miura for making my time here on Earth better.

The Balmung vigil lasted at least three days, admittedly with fewer people as time went on, but astonishingly impressive nonetheless.
I first heard of Berserk playing FFXIV, when I was running a dungeon on my low level warrior. Someone in my group told me I had a nice Casca cosplay, and I had no idea who she was. A friend who was with me intervened and agreed I did make a pretty good accidental Casca glamour. After the run, my friend explained what Berserk was, but cautioned me it was kind of "a lot" and they couldn't be entirely sure I should read it.
I ended up reading it and I'm glad I did.
I'm in this video, at the @1:40 mark or so, on the left, wearing the same Casca glamour that started me down this path years ago.

Berserk, the magnum opus. Immortalized. One man understood Humanity more than any of us could dream of. Kentaro Miura. Thank you. For Guts. For the world of Berserk. For Berserk itself.
Rest in peace. May your soul walk free.

This really is eerily amazing, I played ff14 a bunch recently and just took a break. But this? This seems very ff14, Cheers to you Miura.

really was a beautiful sight. i myself stood in my server's vigil for a few hours in between roulettes. i never watched or read berserk, i'm kinda squeamish about gore, but i love and appreciate the impact his work had on so many things i and people i care about love like final fantasy, dark souls, demon slayers, etc.
