I watched this everyday throughout my childhood. Literally my favorite movie of all time. So good! Also brings back memories of simpler times when everyone wasnt a mental case.
@Eugene Red Yes it's absolutely terrible in America since Biden took over. People are distant, economy is trash, tradition is gone, everything cost triple and we have delusion running the show. It was the best it ever was when Trump was in office besides all the crying and propaganda from the Democrats. Everything they say he was is exactly what they themselves are!
James Gray is was grotesquely mismarketed as a science action thriller film, and the trailers promotions didn't do much to help that. Audiences reportedly walked out of theaters after the initial space battle realizing this was NOT the movie they were anticipating. This was a film that people thought would be a space war between humans and an Alien species. It got better appraised in the decades to come
I have been trying to remember the name of this movie for like 15 years now. I remember watching it with Dad as a kid. I searched all Harrison Ford movies and thought he played in this. I searched 80s sci fi movies and this was on the list. Cannot believe I found it.
Same here, I watched it with my mum it was the year 1994, ex Yugoslavia civil war was going on for two years, and there were power restrictions and we never saw what happened in the end. I tried to find it, and I never did until few years ago I was flipping trough the channels and I saw it I was so happy, my mum too :)
This movie is literally what we need today. We're all living beings, and no matter the species, or culture, we need to come together to survive this crazy ride of life with a little dignity.
Great times and memories of my childhood, simpler back then, this movie was very underrated along with many other 80’s movies, this and the original Fright Night and many others from my days in the 80’s i could never get tired of…
I saw this movie when I was around 12 or 13 years old I never once 4got about it. Over the years I would baaa Saaaa baaaa like Jerry lol. And never knew the name of the movie watched it with my step-dad and I never forgot it. I'm 33 now and just found it. Brought back some great memories Thank you for the share!
Why this film didn't get an Oscar nomination for its makeup is beyond me. That's some impressive makeup they applied on Louis Gossett Jr. Can't even recognize him.
Cos it wasnt a stallone or Schwarzenegger movie. "Big muscles" was the main theme back then because of these two. I remember when it came out. It sparkled curiosity but that's it.
I sometimes wondered if I saw a Drac skull in the Predator ship in Predator 2 (turns out there wasn't). Would have been cool to have seen a Drac skull in there...

I never forgot it, first film I saw Lou in, he was standout then,...at the mo. my partner is watching Mine enemy 2, so I had to find the original one....
@@davidhoward2487 i looked it up. From what i can find, no remake or sequel of Enemy Mine was produced. What is you partner watching? Year, actors, etc. Thanx!

Pretty different considering that in Enemy Mine the humans and dracs are rivals competing for territory while in District 9 the prawns are refugees on Earth.
Omgosh ❤’d this movie soo much when it came out! Cannot _believe_ it’s taken all this time to see it again! Actually watching now (baby was just born) & this is as lovely and entrancing as the first time! Geez going from death to new life was an emotional roller coaster! Such a beautiful message about acceptance. If i could’ve had kids, this is definitely a movie i’d make sure they watched. 🤟🏼💞
I went to a Japanese restaurant with my friend and he keeps ordering the yakitori. I had to look up this scene cause it was exactly what it looks like..
I forgot this movie for almost 30 years. I'm not sure why it randomly came to my mind again, and I just googled "old movie where male alien gives birth" which was the only vague image I had in my memory and instantly found all these clips. I was like 8 or 9 when I watched it and it traumatized me. Now I know the name and I will watch it.
I honestly loved the way it started out, but it felt ridiculous by the time they got to the kid alien. They should have just ended it with Jerry dying sadly and Will getting rescued.
If say the scavengers arrived in the early part of the film(around this time) I wonder if davidge would have handed Jerry over to them in exchange for passage off the planet
Bro the clip of the guy finding out that the aliens not a dude and giving birth is the only thing I remember from this movie I never knew the name or remember how I even watched this Honestly I thought I had dreamed the whole thing but then then I searched up "man is on planet with an alien alien gives birth" and now I’m here

This film scared me to the bones when I was a child. The drac is so ugly and creepy. It really was traumatising for me. I was scared to go to the bathroom at night because I thought there could be a drac waiting for me there. I wonder if I was the only one...
@@Deckardpr Nope 😊 i just saw this movie thousands of times and when Davidge said "you wanna know my name?" The Drac seemes interested. That and the fact he said Jerry Shiga as an introduction

I love this movie.
The drac told him that he was sick of tolerating his funky earthling attitude and crap ask nicely or else. Yup it's what he told him.
Louis Gossett Jr. knocked it out the park in this movie

Jerry was the nickname will gave him.... The drac's name was jariba shigan

That's like the difference in makeup between ape in 'Planet of the Apes' and '2001 a Space Odyssey'. Odyssey had it hands down yet Ape won the award.

It is a mask
To watch this movie in the 80s The best movie classic . those guys was the greatest actor... Outstanding Performers...

I must’ve watched this movie 30 times as a kid with my lil bro. Great movie that taught me an important lesson.
Louis’ best performance. RIP & Semper Fi.
That's really cool how the mask moves on the ears like a reptile, that's ahead of it's time in special effects
And at the corners of his mouth, too. Very detailed work.
Too bad Worf from Star Trek wasnt there to translate for them
I’m gonna buy this on dvd and watch it with all 15 of my grandkids
My personal translation of the Drac when he presented him the space slug.....
" Here Davidge .....your food ....eat it"
Davidge - you're kidding
Drac- eat it!
Davidge bites the slug and gags
Drac in disgust... "He actually ate it" 🤢
I have been practicing Drac's language and singing all my life :-D but that actor is the best in it
Love how the Drac tries to tell Davidge to spit that slug out.
