Not sure why this isn't working, everything is coming up just like you show. I type the size in each window but nothing happens. I'm using the select tool not text. Was so looking forward to using it (I've been trying to figure out a way to do this for some time.) I found it at community.adobe.com/t5/Illustrator/Spiral-quot-Shrinking-quot-Text-Script/m-p/9015949 since your link brought me to the main page again not sure why. There is one line that is different than yours and I tried to change it and reinstall but an error come up. I'm finding that many scripts I've downloaded have errors messages. I'll keep trying to find an answer.
Oh thank you - your script works perfectly, this is going to make my project so much easier. Still can't see what I was messing up but you saved a lot of my hair from being pulled out. Thanks again.
Nice effect and explanation. Is it possible to get a download of the script. The link to the forum doesn't work. It sends me to a complete other adobe page. Found the script somewhere else but it isn't working. I get the pop ups to fill in the numbers but after that the text doesn't change. So I was hoping for a downloadable script file :) if that is possible. Thanks in advanced,
Clicking the link for the script now redirects to Adobe's home screen; this appears to be the same script (or thread). community.adobe.com/t5/illustrator/spiral-quot-shrinking-quot-text-script/td-p/9015949?page=1
my text keeps starting from the center then goes out - I can't figure out how to start it from the outer most line. my spiral also come out the mirror image of yours
Great question Joss. You need to flip it so click on the type with the Selection tool so you have it targeted and choose Type > Type on a Path > Type on a Path Options and click Flip and then OK. You might now need to rotate the spiral to get it to look nice on the screen. The reason your spiral is a mirror is that it's going the other way. To change this, double click the Spiral tool in the Tool panel and click the other Style option before drawing your spiral.
You will need to go into Finder on a Mac or File Explorer on a Windows machine and change the file name so it has the extension JSX. That should work fine.
@@HelenBradley thanks for replying! That didn’t work but the workaround was finding a script that was already installed and editing the content and the title, and that worked!
You don't need an updated tutorial, it still works just fine. If the issue is that you can't find the script, try this link: community.adobe.com/t5/illustrator-discussions/illustrator-spiral-shrinking-growin-text-scaling-down-up-on-spiral-path/m-p/5851145#M152776 I just stepped through this video from start to end and did everything step by step as I explained and, apart from having trouble locating the script, it worked perfectly. I hope this helps?
@@HelenBradley Oh wow! I was noticed. I have been in search of vids similar to this. And I stumpled upon yours and itr perfectly works with my Ai version.
Thank you, this is great!
You're very welcome!
Great tutorial. Is there a way or a script that allows you to scale a circle shape with text but not scale the text itself?
Does this work in curves too?
Yep!
thank you very mach helen
Cheers Nacef!

I have the same issue, did you already got a working script or idea?

Do you have an updated tutorial that works with Illustrator 2022?
