Spike won me over pretty quick in the series, and his relationship with Buffy, oddly felt more organic than Angel's.
Same here. Spike won me over quickly. As the show continued, I invested more - or took greater interest - in his journey on an individual basis and then in a collective sense as he and Buffy grew closer. I never understood “Bangel” and found Spike to be the one for her and vice versa. 🌹
@Danii Decay him and Angel actually had that discussion (while they were fighting) in 'Angel' the series. Spike explained how he was able to defeat the monster inside of him, and Angel still can't. While Angel calls it a curse, Spike calls it a gift, a gift he fought for and was willing to die to get it. Their interaction with one another in the 'Angel' series was interesting.... If you haven't seen it, already. It's a little brother vs big brother conflict, and little brother make a lot of great points, to the point Angel had to admit, Spike is probably the vampire (with a soul) the prophecy talks about.
I loved Buffy and Angel when I was younger. Now I'm rewatching the series and I don't really get Angel and Buffy. I wish I could fast forward to when Angel leaves for LA, Riley happens then ends, so I can get me some Spike and Buffy. Much more complex romance, tied to their character arc and way better suited for the convoluted world of Joss Whedon than Angel and Buffy.
He had me when he was looking for Buffy saying "Here kitty, kitty". Loved how he spoke!
Very much agreed. I felt like Angel and Buffy were forced. Plus Angel got it on with a teenager..who else isn't creeped out with that?
I'm still so sure James Marsters as Spike is the most beautiful a man has ever been and we'll never see better 😍

I was beyond excited to have met him a few years ago at a con. Actually he was at the same show the year before but I didn't get the autograph (though I saw the stage presentation). I was occupied with other autographs and there wasn't really any notice until the last minute that he was going to be leaving early to catch a flight. I was pissed but the next year he was at the show again and I got it that time. Besides Giles, Spike was at the top fav list as well. And at the time if I'd been watching the show a lot, I would kind of adopt a little bit of the accent subconsciously. I'd post a picture of the sig on here if I could. And yeah, he's pretty great with his fans.
He's gorgeous, but only in Buffy.. His humor made him hotter than Angel, but sorry no, he's not the "only" gorgeous man, I can name 10 at the top of my head: 1.Michael Jackson (Especially in the 80s) 2.Vin Diesel, 3.Michael Greyeyes, 4.Johnny Depp (but only as Captain Jack Sparrow) 5.Robert Downey Jr., 6.Robert Pattinson (still) 7.Jason Momoa, 8.Luke Roberts (From his Dracula: The Dark Prince 2013.) 9.Billy Zane, 10.Nick Zano. 🥰11.Drew Van Acker!
I like Vin Diesel so much, I married my own Vin Diesel look alike, in fact that's how his name is said in my phone, "My Vin Diesel look alike Hubby!" Except now he's only starting to sound like Vin instead of looking like him. Last couple of yrs have been extremely hard on us, & we both have let ourselves go... But I also joke with him saying I only married u cuz u look like Vin.. Once yrs ago when Fast 5 came out, our autistic son was 3 I think, & he saw a large cardboard cut out of Vin from Fast 5, & he pointed & said Daddy, lol 🤣!!

Also agree with the crazy lady about Johnny Depp but for me it was in 21 Jump Street when he shared a straw with a kid who had HIV back in the days when people wouldn’t want to touch you. So sweet. And you might need to watch a movie called Untamed Heart for a number 11 or replace one of the others with that one (obvs not Vin, you two clearly have a special connection).
I’m so happy, that she chooses him in the comics. The way she realizes that they can start their relationship anytime. They left it with not an exact solution but it was still hopeful.

They still seem to be in love with each other going off their last interaction in season 12. Spike to Buffy: "I'm my best when I'm around you...nothing's ever gonna change that", Buffy "That goes both ways William Pratt". Then they hug. It's left very open and hopeful. I believe they will be together forever, I just don't see how they can be apart from each other. Best couple EVER!

RNDS She loved Spike very much, no question about that.
How could anyone think that when she held his hand during the finale, and her face lit up upon feeling his soul? Her change in facial expression said it all: she was overwhelmed with how beautiful she found his soul, making her finally confident that she was in love with him.
She loved him, even if he didn’t believe her when she said it to him in the finale, she even told Angel that spike was in her heart. All through the back part of the final season there were things she did and said that showed what he meant to her. While everyone else didn’t want him around and wanted him gone, Buffy never let him go, never gave up on him because she could see the man he truly was behind the monster everybody seen. Yeah he did some god awful stuff in the past but he earned his redemption especially with Buffy.

Iiiii believe she definitely loves him. It's just a really unhealthy relationship, which is not really either of their faults. He didn't choose to turn from an innocent, sweet, poetic guy into a predatory monster. And she didn't choose to go from being a young, carefree girl into a hero. I always loved their relationship because it seems like their inner children are the ones in love, and then they end up tearing each other to bits, trying to get those parts of themselves to surface. But like she has to be angry around him all the time, because he's not exactly a nice guy. They are both just incredibly sensitive people with a very strong will. Soooooooo. (There's my lockdown analysis of Spuffy. Lmfao).
I think he knew she loved him but couldn't believe it. Because after she said it his facial expression changed and he kind of smiled -slightly. He just said "No, you don't" so the goodbye wouldn't be so difficult, because it would've been unbearable for him to die accepting his love wasn't unrequited.
This ending is both beautiful and sad at the same time.
I think she idealized her relationship with Angel, because that was indeed impossible due to Angel's curse.

I cry watching them like all the time and it makes me so sad that they didn’t end up together. He was able to love her without a soul and even went as far as to get one. They had more chemistry than angel and Buffy did. I always hope they would make a movie or another season and that they would get together 💗

It's a shame, Buffy did not kiss Spike on the mouth, during the last scene, between them, to prove to him, that she really was in love with him.
I would've loved to see a goodbye kiss between them as well. For me, what makes their final moment in the Hellmouth even more tragic is that Spike had waited so long for Buffy to tell him she loved him, and yet it wasn't something he could celebrate as first and foremost on his mind was her surviving and getting as far away from him as possible. If he replied in kind, I can't imagine her leaving him to perish even with the degree of pain it would cause her friends and fellow slayers.

@@francoistaing2217 If she'd told him that she was sincere, and that she really loved him, he would have followed her and his "sacrifice" would not have been so strong. Buffy felt in love with Spike when he became a hero (and Joss Whedon said she realized it exactly then, in the cave, when he was dying), she couldn't take that away from him, that perfect act of heroism... Well that's what I think, anyway.

This show will always be legendary. I've watched it more times than I can count, and to be honest, this video really captures the love Spike had for Buffy, and the love Buffy had to Spike, but never admitted until the last moment with Spike in Chosen (Not knowing for sure if she meant it). I love this video and I had some tears. I wish the show continued passed season 7, but grateful the show got seven seasons (Since season 5 was supposed to be the final season). Love this 💖💖💖💖
Thank you so much! A tribute for Spike and Buffy's relationship to one another is a project that was years in the making, and I enjoyed putting the pieces together from start to finish. Likewise, I wish there were more seasons of the show and at the same time feel grateful for what we as an audience were privy to - a collection of incredible characters and varying relationships. Spike saw the best and worst of Buffy, but he still (bloody) loved her and Buffy saw the best and worst of Spike. He did try to rape her, but Spuffy was a more passionate relationship than Bangel and Spike cared for Buffy long before he had a soul, whereas Angelus despised Buffy without his.

Always loved these two together. My favourite scenes between them were from the last few episodes of the final season, just the way they were with each other and the way Spike gave Buffy what she needed to get through and the strength he gave her without expecting anything in return was just beautiful.

I swear there is an episode in season 7 where Buffy says to Willow “why does everyone think I’m still in love with Spike?”
Meaning she was in love with him at some point. Also in Angel season 5 where him and Spike go to Rome they meet Andrew who tells them that Buffy loves both of them. Sooo Joss made it clear multiple times. Let’s not forget she did tell him at the end she loves him. Even though he doesn’t believe her.
The episode where Buffy asks why everyone believes she's still in love with Spike is 7x14 - "First Date". It wasn't until the very end in which the prospect of losing Spike forever became real that she summoned the courage to speak to what was in her heart as well as the substance of her actions, what they conveyed collectively. His response from 7x22 to the effect of "No, you don't. But thanks for saying it.", I don't interpret that as he didn't believe her. Instead, his priority was ensuring her survival. Because the amulet was intrinsic in value and only worked as a result of his wearing it, removing it could've possibly killed him outright. If he had said "I love you." in return, no way would she have left his side. She would've stayed with him until the end, and he wanted her to go on living even if he couldn't share that part of her journey with her.
I love both of them....... Love. .the video in my opinion the love of buffys life is not Angel it's spike... Angel was her first love but spike was"the" love. 💘

Likewise, Jaime. I was never a fan of Buffy and Angel's relationship and ultimately found her and Spike's journey to be so compelling. Such a beautiful video. All of the best moments were there, and the music fit the scenes so well. You truly captured the nature of Buffy/Spike relationship, and its moving, bittersweet end. I especially liked the part from 3:50 to 4:05, as well as the ending montage. Keep up the great work, you are very talented. I really enjoyed this!
Thank you so much! There are multiple layers, intricacies, that define Spike and Buffy's relationship, and I hope that I've captured all of those elements well. Given the parallels in regards to observations and/or comments Spike made to Buffy and vice-versa, separating and then organizing scenes to compliment different lines of dialogue made this project more exciting and fun. :) In the future, I'd love to publish a compilation similar in structure for Willow and Tara.
I loved Buffy and Angel’s relationship but the second Spike was introduced I loved his character more. Then I found out about their love story and binge watched it some more until it came, which I then knew instantly it was OTP.

I loved how on the episode titled chosen she said that she considered spike her boyfriend when she was talking to Angel. The title, and then saying that proves it
I completely agree, Brooke!! Ultimately, "Chosen" I believe was meant to address precisely that - Buffy coming to terms with emotions that had gone unacknowledged for so long and finally giving voice to them. What we saw unfold between her and Spike, particularly during the back half of season 7, is the true love story.
One of the best I've seen so far, visuals very complete, and you didn't drown the dialogue out with the music. Excellent.

with angel there is a beautiful crush, classic teenage love, intense but short-lived .... but with Spike it is much deeper ... we see two who hate each other, then they know and understand each other on a level that no one else can be.
they see the good and the bad in each other, they grow up together, they trust until the end ... this is love that lasts a lifetime

in the comics we read of a beautiful relationship between them, but I wanted to see it on screen.
I don't understand when people say Buffy doesn't love Spike, she sure loves him already in Season 6, but she struggles with her feelings for him, but in the end she manages to understand them and admits them.
Buffy has gone through too much pain and loss over the years and often talks about her difficulty loving, I can't see her saying "I love you" to Spike without really feeling it.
Spike is the perfect companion for her, they complement each other perfectly

In my head, new ending of the series finale: Scene-
INT. HELLMOUTH - DAY Buffy and Spike are the only ones left in the hellmouth. Spike is still glowing from the amulet, sending rays of light out into the hellmouth. Buffy stands in front of him, staring, still holding her scythe. SPIKE "Go on, then." BUFFY "No. No, you've done enough. You could still-" SPIKE "No, you've beat them back. It's for me to do the cleanup." The walls are crumbling around them. FAITH (calls down to Buffy) "Buffy, come on!" SPIKE "Gotta move, lamb. I think it's fair to say school's out for bloody summer." BUFFY (worried) "Spike!" SPIKE "I mean it! I gotta do this." (holds out his hand to stop her) Buffy laces her fingers through Spike's, and they burst into flame together. BUFFY (softly, looks into his eyes) "I love you." SPIKE "Now you tell me!" Buffy smiles. (another earthquake; Buffy lets go of his hand) SPIKE "Now go! I wanna see how it ends." Buffy, "No!" & yanks the amulet off Spikes neck, they lock hands & run up the stairs together. Spike grabs tarp as they run out the school for sunlight protection. Buffy & Spike are running along the rooftops of the shopping mall as the bus drives down the street. The buildings are collapsing behind them as they try to catch up to the bus. Both leap from building to building, still carrying the scythe, then finally jumps toward the street, landing on the bus. 😍

So was I, but Spike did appear again on the final season of “Angel” which both revitalized and brought new energy to the series. 👍 He and Buffy deserved a much better ending. 🙏🌹

I found myself rooting for Spike and Buffy as soon as it was clear there was something there. I fell in love with the character of Spike, and the 2 actors had a great chemistry together. In my opinion, Spike actually sacrificed more for Buffy than Angel did.

Spuffy is that kind of relationship that really got me, It's been what +15 years? And I still find the complexity of their story fascinating, omg, Spike is just... ❤ Oh man, even his worst actions you can come up with empathy, and you feel awful to try to defend him, but you just can't help it, it just blows my mind they did this to me, the episode of the smoky cross when he reveals to Buffy he got his soul still makes me cry when he says 'shame on you Buffy' (I got the chills) His whole speech reminiscing the topic of sacrifice for forgiveness is just so touching, I can't... Idk, I don't think I've ever seen another complex relationship like this that got me so hard, it's art, it's magnificent, the fact I can feel for them both, understand them and not having a glimpse of judgement after all these years, oh man, thanks Joss 👏 👏

I got a theory what if when Buffy was in the desert with the first slayer who told her she’s full of love and death is her gift she was talking about spike she is full of love his love for her kept her going when she felt she couldn’t and his dead body was her gift he’s a vampire he’s dead but full of life because of her and he was the answer to defeating the first

She loved Angel when he was Cursed with a soul he didnt ask for.. Spike chose is soul, he fought for it, he suffered for it.. he earnt it.
I'm a Bangel fan and always will be. But Spuffy will always have a place in my heart. In the end I think she did love him you can tell that she definitely felt something for him and that he will always be in her heart. I just think she didn't love him the same amount he did her. Spike utterly adored Buffy she was his whole world I mean when he came back as a ghost his first concern was Buffy. Their relationship was special it had this different feel to it compared to other TV couples which I just can't explain.

Thank you so much, Lucy!! I agree that Buffy loved Spike, but as to the degree in which she loved him I think it's fair to say the regard between them was equal. For her, it took longer to come to that realization on account of examining their relationship or all of her preceding relationships and comparing them "on paper". Through that prism, again addressing the parameters through her lens, Spike would be the last person expected to come back for her. But he did and ultimately earned a place in her heart and her life beyond Sunnydale. I hated how their journey over the course of the show ended on a less than happy note, but then again his sacrificing himself so that she could live - with his living on through her being the underlying theme or concept - was poignant and true to Spike as a character.

I really loved Spike and Buffy together. And whereas Angel was already a good vampire due to a curse, Spike willingly went through torture to become better and gain a soul. I think Buffy did come to love Spike before the end.
