It’s horrible that women make the choice of food or pads. It disgusts me the prices of pads and tampons.
Edit: btw clearly loads of ppl are seeing this comment so I just wanna say if u feel strongly about it tell ur school or charity monitor or whatever because there are many charities where people donate pads and tampons for women dealing with poverty.
Wait what’s the price of sanitary products I’m the us. I’m from the uk btw
Ik, where I am the prices for pads and tampons range from £1,50- £5 and some people just don’t have the money
isebella granger in the us tampons are very expensive as well as pads. The price can range from $10-$20 unless your getting a miniature pack which is like $5
Where I’m from pads range from €0.50 to €6
I’m from london (east) and it’s kinda cheap here. You could find a pack for £2
It’s crazy how disgusted people are by others talking about periods. It’s a normal bodily function
Edit: my point is that if others want to publicly talk about and have these conversations they shouldn’t be shamed or told not to. It’s this mentality that causes young girls to panic when they are misinformed about hygiene
I mean as a female myself, I kind of get it. I mean, they're gross. But some people just take it way too far. Theres no need to insult a woman for a period.
Lol, you'd be surprised that it's a fetish for some.
Ikr , they have ridiculed it so much it is hard to have a conversation about it some times
A friend had told me his friend said no woman could get in his car while on her period. My 1st question was: how would he know? (Unless that girl doesn't deal with herself properly during that time) and 2) How was he born? Did he hatch or was it a lab because I know for a fact he came from a woman.
It's sad and makes many feel shameful in their own skin, which should not be happening....
I remember clearly being in class, and i felt sth and i was like.. no way am i having my periods rn, i didn’t dare ask my teacher if i could go to the bathroom to check. During a 5 min break i stood up, and a guy behind me tapped me on the shoulder and told me my pants were stained. I wrapped a hoodie from a friend around the middle and went to the bathroom. Had to go home of course and felt so ashamed the guy saw that, but that guy never spoke to anyone about it and didn’t become awkward around me. I’m grateful he was an understanding one. And that was a realisation point for me that these are things that are natural and can happen, never felt any shame after that.. if i would stain I’d go “oops not again, roll my eyes at mother nature, and get on with my day”.
Thank you for sharing 🙏
The world needs men like this
Everyone should be like that❤️
That guy is really nice
Last year, my class chose period poverty as an issue to raise awareness and money for last year (we called it ‘Bloody Outrageous’). It’s crazy how this issue isn’t talked about enough. Unfortunately we never finished what we started due to COVID. But we did raise awareness and we gave a few hundred Euros of sanitary products to charities.
You have a good school
A lot of mothers are shameful of their menstruation and their daughter suffer because of it. AND don’t teach their sons about it too.
mothers werent taught and its generational sadly
y sons though it literally doesn’t affect them in any way no offence or hate
D O , a lot of men and boys bully and make rude comments to women when they are menstruating and sadly a lot think that it’s dirty or sinful. Plus having a partner who understands what you are going through and have empathy makes it so much easier.
D O for when their sons have daughters or girlfriends or female friends. men make fun of women for their periods because they are uneducated (e.g. saying "wow are you on your period" when a girl gets offended)
D O It’s important for boys to be educated on periods too. Periods affect pregnancy when a male has unprotected intercourse with a female. If the male isn’t properly educated on the menstrual cycle then it’s pretty easy to end up becoming a father.
i can't imagine myself deciding between a sanitary product and a meal.
Johanaaa people in some places don’t even have a choice, they just simply die of hunger

6:00 As a man, I'm starting to realize why women are typically more grateful, loving, and humble when it comes to treating others. I always knew they were predisposed towards these good qualities, but hearing some of these heart breaking stories really puts it into more of a context because they really do by design suffer more loss than men, so that galvanizes them as they grow.

1. I started my period in gym class a week early. I had no tampons or pads with me because i had no where to put them. My friends said they didn’t have anything either. So i just stood by the bleachers trying not to lean or sit on them because i would stain myself. That day the teacher said we were gonna do gymnastics and I didn’t want to do it because i would stain my self and the mats. So i just stood on the side of the gym until the lesson was over. The teacher came up to me and forced me to do the class or he would send me to the office for not participating. Since he was a male I didn’t feel comfortable telling him so i just ignored him. He ended up taking me to the principals office and the principal asked me to talk to her because i was on the verge of crying. The gym teacher ended up leaving me and the principal alone and i told her and she told me that it’s okay that it happens and that she would give me the option of calling home for an excuse so i did because i already started smelling the blood coming out and stains on the vagina area. The gym teacher apologized the next day but I didn’t accept the apology cuz he literally yelled at me without asking if something was wrong.
2. I also started my period in science class with my male teacher and I already knew that i had to put a pad or a tampon in so i wouldn’t bleed unexpectedly. As class went by the cramps started coming in and they were the worst cramps ever. I started crying because it was so bad and my friend started asking me what was wrong and i told her and she asked me if I wanted a pain reliever pill so i said yes and i took it it took the cramping pain out for a bit but then they just started all over again and i just cried and the teacher came up to me and asked if i wanted to go to the nurse and i said yes. I went to the nurses office and i knew he wasn’t gonna do much. He ended up giving me an ice packet (shocker lmao). But the cramps were still horrible. I went to my female teachers class and she talked to me about my period and she said if i wanted to call one of my parents to see if they could excuse me for the day because she felt bad because i was literally crying like I’ve never done before. My brother ended up picking me up instead of my parents because they work in other towns like 2 hours away.
Your gym story reminds me of when I would get my period during high school gym. Our teacher was a woman but she would give me a break if I was cramping or needed to change my pad. It sucked having to do sit-ups while cramping. One girl was feeling so sick she just sat out and didn’t care if she got in trouble.

pretty sure there would have been no problem if men peed blood once a month, they would have had the best technology in the world for free as well
NormieFly You realize you came out of a woman, right? Even if you’re orphaned you still have a birth mother. The fact you act like this towards something that women physically cannot stop is ridiculous. Also keeping in mind that you compared it to drinking water.. Both of these things get taxed differently. Water is seen as something we need viably to live. Women nowadays need sanitary products to live everyday productive lives. They can’t just stop what they’re doing for an entire week because they’re bleeding.. Would definitely say that’s not a luxury and that’s coming from a female that hasn’t bled for over a year. I still getting the cramps and fatigue just like any other woman that’s menstruating. Don’t compare drinking water (which you can go a few days without) to using sanitary products during a woman’s cycle. You go without sanitary products you’ll bleed everywhere. Which at that point would be considered a health hazard. You can develop diseases from contact with others peoples’ blood. So ya know.. Disgusting and a health hazard. Kind of a priority.
@NormieFly highkey wish your mom got her period instead of you
Broom Bed i felt that on a spiritual level oml
i don’t know why there are even arguments in the comments, women do not choose to menstraute. women do not choose to bleed non-stop for up to 7 days. sanitary products should therefore be free. whether or not it’s possible to enforce immediately, it should still be on the agenda. so many countries such as Scotland have period products free. have some EMPATHY, and put yourself in someone else’s shoes.
Many things are a necessity. Food is essential, so is water. We don't choose to go hungry or be thirsty. Unfortunately you can't have a product that costs alot to manufacture free. Maybe reduce the price by having them subsidized. Otherwise it would affect the quality and that would cause am uproar for those who can afford it.

Makes my period a million times easier, and I didn't go to anyone because I was ashamed, I was never taught what a period was (literally I didn't know it was even a thing until grade 4 when they taught is for about 10 minutes and never mentioned it again). I didn't know either. I put on pads from the wrong side lmao. It's more common than you think. Don't be embarrassed. Educating young girls about periods is important indeed
In India, people think that women are untouchable or dirty during periods, we girls are not allowed to go to the temple or enter the kitchen or do any religious work, sometimes when people are aware about a girl being on her period they try to stay away from her , they won't even touch her, but the real thing is that periods is the most purest thing as it clears up all the dirty blood from our body.
Well this doesn't happen with me as my parents are from medical field and they are so open and protective about me. But I am afraid that not everyone has these kind of parents.😶😪
I would say that is mostly a case in rural areas / conservative families . Most of us aren't allowed to go to temple and do religious rituals and that is true .

I wish. I WISH. That I could do more as a late teen to help these girls. I’m so lucky to be in my situation and I will always donate as soon as I reach 18. These products need to be cheaper!
it’s sad how condoms are free but period supplies aren’t when sex is a choice and having ur period isn’t . it shows who they prioritize more.
Condoms protect the male and female during sex so how is that prioritizing one gender over another?

Why cant you see that pads and sanitary products should be seen as essential and should be free? In my school’s nurse office, they don’t have heating packs for when girls get cramps. Multiple of my friends have gone and the nurse just tells them the school doesn’t have that. They end up having to go home because they need a warm compress to help pass the cramps.
The nurse’s office should have heating packs. This is ridiculous.
Nah, mate. They got ice packs, pads that don't work, and blues clues band-aids.
Also when someone in my class has their period or needs pain killers we go to other girls in our class and ask them. I find it really nice that they aren't ashamed because that isn't something you should be ashamed of, its nature. I'm always open when I have my period, I would legit scream at that person that annoys me (mostly boys) that I have my period and they will leave me terrified. They also bring me chocolate sometimes.
SOME REFLECTIONS ABOUT THE VIDEO:
1. The fact that most of us are able to use sanitary pads and other periods products is something we should be grateful for.
2. Sanitary pads and other period related products should be taxed as products of basic need. By not doing this, again, we become aware that we live in a very pathriarcal society where the needs of women are not heard and recognized. The fact that some women cannot afford to buy it shocks me, but it breaks my heart more to hear that they have to choose it over that other something.
MY FELLOW WOMEN & GIRLS, THIS IS NOT SOMETHING THAT SHOULD BE NORMAL OR NORMALIZED.
3. Oh dear taboo. PERIOD IS SOMETHING NORMAL AND NATURAL. Growing up in an asian household, I was taught that I should hide the fact that I was having the menstruation. But why?
I stopped caring a long time ago and you should. Let not only girls and women, but also men start getting uncomfortable talking and learning about these topics. Why we should hide it?
I'm curious, but has a male friend ever talked to you about menstruation?
Has a male gotten uncomfortable talking about female anatomy and bodily fluids?
I do agree with how pads and similar products should be tax-exempt and given out free at certain facilities. I'm a dude and I never got a free condom, unless it was from a friend.

I just wanted to clear this because some ppl might misinterpret what the woman at 4:15 said.
Periods are NOT considered a taboo or something dirty in Islam. In fact when menstruating, women are exempted from fasting and praying (very compulsory things otherwise) due to the fatigue and horrible pain most experience during this time.
Periods are only considered a bad thing in certain cultures which has nothing to do with the religion so its wrong for anyone to say that Islam looks down on the natural cycle because it doesn't.
I think she is referring to way more back then. Either ways, I'm glad it's not like that anymore if it was.
Yesss you said the thing I want to sayyy
The real issue is with religious people with half knowledge. If you hear her next statement, she said it was male interpretation.
Me and my friends actually did something about this. We had a group project in school where we chose an organisation and then everyone in the class voted to what organisation we should send the money. (around 30 dollars)
Theres an organisation called ”happy period”, they give away pads and tampons to ppl who cant afford it. We could see some people in our class was chocked when we held our presentation since its kind of a taboo subject but we ended up ”winning” the voting and the money got sent to Happy period!
Our teacher was also amazing! Each national period day she took an hour just for it and everyone asked questions and she answerd. She told us that her parents was very strict so she didnt know much about it when she got it, thats why she told us that if we ever needed any pads we could come to her bc she always had a package with her in school!
As a male I can 100% say that periods should be talked about more so that it doesn’t become a taboo thing and pads/tampons are a necessity and shouldn’t be taxed and should definitely be more available everywhere

The same thing happened to me in 8th grade! My crush saw it and he would purposely ask me to get up and get him something ( of course I would because I wanted him to like me) and what he was trying to do was to get other people’s attention in class to look at my butt. I have horrible periods and my blood leaked through my pad. I’m 29 and that image still haunts me. He told everyone I crapped on myself . Sorry it happened to you!
sorry you didn't deserve that and that was wrong of them. It's normal tho, so the problem was them, not you. and also your English is good!

I want the guys to do the math. By the end of the year all that money we spend on feminine products. We could have went on a mini vacation.
why do you want guys do to the math
I’m a trans guy (FTM) and I remember being so goddamn embarrassed everytime I had my monthly subscription to Satan, I felt so alone, I couldn’t speak to anybody about it because I didn’t want anyone to know I had these problems or to think about me or the parts I had. I grew up poor and was never told much about menstruation, when I first started it was only a few drops a couple of times a year because I was so underweight. I was made homeless at 16 and eating a full donated meal every night at the homeless shelter made me fill out a bit. I can not begin to describe my sheer panic and misery at the realisation of being caught out in a rough area, surrounded by homeless strangers, drug addicts and toxic masculinity, I was already trying so hard to be accepted by the people around me, I couldn’t ask anyone for help. I would use toilet paper and I would have to change it every hour on the hour. There were times the full wad would fall out my pants leg and on to the floor, peoples eyes on the back off my neck, I can’t describe a worse feeling.
I’m 20 now and I’m on medication to stop this from ever happening to me again but anytime I feel a slight symptom, cravings or cramps, I will stay in my bed the whole week under the covers wishing I was dead and hoping to hell that I don’t need to go anywhere or meet anyone just in case. The expectancy for people to be able to afford these products is outdated and ridiculous. People need to be more open minded and willing to talk about these things. I didn’t ask for this to happen to me, it’s something I struggle with the trauma of every day of my life and I wish no one else ever has to go through it
This is sad and I hope that people can fix this issue because it sucks that some can’t have access to pads.

ikr? I can just go and get any period product I need. Although my mom had to use cloth I still find it hard to believe that it still occurs. I know about it but it's hard to believe that our world is so far behind on important situations like these.
got me crying, i was fortunate enough to always be able to afford them, but sometimes when i'd start in school or just start spotting, i never had access to them. my school had those metal boxes that you pay quarters to get stuff out of them, but those hadnt been refilled in years. eventually the student gov put free pads in there, but they would always vanish as soon as they were placed because of the lack of access to them at home for some women, it always made me feel awful to know that was the ONLY way for some girls to get the products they needed. in the first 2 years of highschool before i started my longterm birth control (i was scared to try tampons at the time), i would wear pads and ALWAYS be terrified that someone would notice or it would bleed through, or even that i'd "smell" even though i changed them so so so often. even now that i don't get them (birth control), it's so degrading to hear men say "oh, are you on your period?" when i get mad at someone for doing something they shouldn't be doing. it's so awful that there has to be this much stigma around such a basic human function. i had to teach myself how to use pads, tampons, and was often ASHAMED of asking my mom for them so i'd sneak around and take hers without asking (she was okay with it) or just use toilet paper. it breaks my heart to know some girls had it even worse than i did, or even had to deal with the kind of stuff i did. i hope one day the stigma around periods will finally go away.
and the worst part imo is when men hear women talk about how painful it is etc they ask "why aren't you on birth control?",,, because men in power make it so expensive and don't allow generic healthcare plans to cover it, not to mention the horrific side effects (i'd know, i've been on it for almost 3 years now). this is slightly off the main period topic, but men really out here saying "ew condoms don't feel good i wanna go 'raw'", essentially making their partner take birth control, and then get mad that the woman is a lot more mentally down / "out of it". i'm sorry that you're too much of a pansy to use a condom, but that's what you get when you chose not to do the easiest, most harmless thing ever (wearing a condom).
An acquaintance once told me: if I fell on the street and scraped my knee and bled through my pants, I would not be ashamed or embarrassed about that blood stain, and I would have no problem arriving anywhere with it. If they asked, I would simply explain I fell, and nobody would be grossed out about that blood. Now, if I got my period on my way and stained my pants... Why should I feel embarrassed and they grossed out? How is it any different?
She realized this after she arrived home from work (after calling her boss out for being a prick and quitting, actually) and realized she was ALL stained with period blood and didn't feel an inch of embarrassment for the first time ever. It was an eye opening experience for her and for me too when she told me.

Men who laugh at women because of their periods, should not be with women PERIOD. Periods are a natural part of being a woman, and we hate it far more than men ever could, its not a choice. However we have to keep our heads up and go through our day through, pain, being uncomfortable and many more symptoms. Men who laugh and can't handle it, should not date and don't deserve to be with a woman, because you realize that any woman will have periods, and she will have symptoms and moments where she will probably bleed through her clothes and she needs a friend, a compassionate person in her life that will understand, not be callous and sexist because of it.

I’m a male, and I could never imagine any of these problems upon anyone, when I’m older (which is literally in a few months) I want to buy with my money whatever I have left to buy food, clothing, and healthcare products to those in need. If anyone is considering the same, literally buy diva cups or things that can last a while (even some tampons or pads) and just give them to that person you see on the street. Not everyone has a good life, I know I don’t have the best situation currently but it’s better than others and I don’t have to worry about bleeding every month or being worried that mine didn’t come and have to get checked out which also costs money. Whatever tiny selfless thing we can do is just worth it, I hope families with money will actually care enough to donate things, I understand people need to have money to live but when you have excess, you’re going to end up 6 ft under the ground in the end. Why not make someone’s life so we can happily end up 6 ft under without living a fucked up life. To anyone out there struggling, their are great people willing to help, they’re just hard to find. This sucks so much. I realize how fortunate I am having easy access to sanitary products even though my parents have been through hard times economically, they still bought me and my 3 sisters pads and tampons. I thought of something though, maybe making menstrual cups more accessible would make the situation better? Since they're reusable for a long time/until they break somehow?
That’s actually a pretty good idea! Imo making pads and tampons “free” just isn’t attainable because someone has to pay for them to be made and someone has to pay the workers who make them. But menstrual cups would be very sustainable and not expensive to make, and can be used for up to 10 years. I guess part of promoting them has to be working on making periods and the female body less taboo to talk about.
Absolutely. You only need 1 menstrual cup and it can last years with proper care.
Unfortunately for women that are in situations such as being homeless menstrual cups aren't a hygienic way for them to have period protection as they don't have adequate resources to sanitise their cups each period, especially with it being something you insert internally it's quite an important aspect. Another issue is that a lot of these confessions came from those in the Muslim and Asian communities where a lot of them will not use products that are inserted internally for cultural or religious reasoning. Reusable pads and menstrual cups would be great for the mainstream that need it but those who are on the extreme end of poverty would likely have no way to clean and reuse them :(
Kajol Patel I definitely see where you’re coming from but you can actually walk into any 7-11, Starbucks, or basically any place that has food or drinks and ask for a cup of hot water, which can be used to sanitize the cup (always around 200 degrees F). I do understand the concern around cultural stigma though and I think that we as a society need to move towards a place where periods aren’t taboo and women don’t feel ashamed of their bodies. Reusable pads are great too!
finally a comment with respectful replies as well as an amazing alternative. I've also never heard of these? How do they work?
This is why menstrual cups are the best. One time, $30~$50 that can last at least 2~3 years. You only need one and you clean it by boiling it in water. It saves wasteful and environmentally damaging pads and tampons. It eliminates negative effects like TSS and you can even wear it safely up to 8~12 hours.
Not only is this great for the average consumer, but great for those in low-income families.

Exactly the problem, like with most things is being uneducated. Periods are *normal* and happen to virtually every woman. The whole entire reason the period exists is to make sure a fertilised egg can survive easier in the uterus (where the baby will grow). The blood is the old uterus lining so that there is always a fresh one. No human would be alive unless periods were a thing. (or humans evolved differently).

Having to go to the nurse's office once a month and missing classes because I bled down my leg during class has become sad normality for a lot of us. I never realized how lucky I got. When I first got my period my mom taught me how to use a pad, and we can afford pads but I wish we didn't have to pay for pads, it's a necessity and I feel like they should be free. plus my family isn't really good on money, we could use the money we spend on pads and tampons for something else, cause even though we could afford it, it doesn't mean that we're happy spending money on things that we shouldn't even have to pay for.
I wish period talk was easier and more common for teens to speak about. I wish I didn’t feel so uncomfortable talking about my periods or my body because it was “embarrassing” to ask for pads. And I wish girls and women weren’t made fun of if we have accidents over something we can’t control. How is America a first world country when women literally have to ration basic healthcare (period products) or choose between that and a meal. Wtf
GillianIsWack sex is NOT essential. Imagine how much money countries would make is they were taxed. No need to force a a tax on tampons/pads. Every women has a period for 30+ years.. give us a break.
America is one of the few countries who don't include tax onto the price tags and tax extra at checkout. Other countries will add onto the price still making it very expensive. It's also a shame that in this time men are still lifted to be superiour in their expenses. Mens clothes? cheaper. Condoms? cheaper. Men hygene products? cheaper
BenniePlant true. Also, sometimes the product is cheaper and better. Like deodorant or cologne. Cheaper and smells better/lasts longer. Look at razors, even.
@@AppleBottomJ Condoms are definitely essential, and women would suffer the most if condoms were taxed, especially poor women. It's not like abusive men in relationships would stop having sex with women if neither of them could buy condoms. At least, with free condoms, there is a level of agency for these women. Pads should be free of taxes too, but free condoms are so, so important.
Carol it’s not like tax is $20 where a lower income household couldn’t buy them. I just think it’s funny how the government decided to put condoms as a no taxable item but tampons as luxury. L.U.X.U.R.Y condoms are the luxury, in definition. Think about the poor women that can’t buy products. Look at homeless women! Homeless men are not buying condoms (b/c it’s not necessary. There food is) but homeless women of prime age rely on period products (or something to cope with blood). I’m not saying condoms are not important (b/c they stop unwanted pregnancies and disease spread, to an extent) but on the totem pool of necessities, I’d put those lower than tampons. IMO I’m not one to jump around and have casual sex, though. Maybe if I were born in another state where that’s the norm

When I got my first period, it was in the middle of the 6th grade school day.
I was scared and didn't quite understand what was happening to me, so i stuffed toilet paper in my underwear and spent most of the day hiding in the bathroom, causing me to be late to some classes.
One of the teachers in a class I was late to confronted me. I explained to her I thought I started my period and I was anxious. In that moment I was mortified, scared, and really just wanted to hear an encouraging word or two... instead I got anger and was told if I missed class again, I would get a write up.
From that point forward, I thought my periods were shameful and dirty. I hated myself for something out of my control causing me to obsess and dread over it. I still do to a certain extent. I wish that teacher had thought about the impact it would have had on me if she had been a bit kinder in my vulnerable moment.
What? What was that teacher expecting? That you would get to class on time and they'd have to clean up after you? I hate that this stuff still happens. I hope you're doing better now

In my school in Dominican Republic we have in the bathroom but they cost 5 pesos
Listening to these stories make me feel so lucky & privileged. Although I did not have access to information about what's going on with my body at a young age, I always had access to pads. I was never forced to feel ashamed or humiliated about something so normal.
Growing up, i am blessed with a good family. I am Southeast Asian and it was never taboo but we're religous. We can talk and even laugh about it. It just feels natural and was never an issue. My first period, i called my mom and she gave me all of the necessities saying 'I've been ready when you mature as a woman' . My brother and father buys me food when i'm in my period and all that. Watching this video made me realize that it is not the same for everyone
Most Boy be like “your mad your probably on your period” or “it’s smells like fish your on your period ewww” I feel like nowadays most guys define everything with periods when it comes to a girl! Like bruh you can’t be mad or sad or just show your emotions because your in your period! I hate that guys know about this because they just use it to hurt girls or to their advantage
Exacccctletyy
Yeah, I feel like guys shouldn’t have the right to make period jokes and make fun of it. It is something that they will never have to go through and we through it every month, 12 times a year, for many years until you hit menopause. Also not every girl gets mad on her period, for me personally the only thing that makes me cranky are the painful craps I get, but any human being would be irritable if they had an awful pain in their abdomen. When my cramps die down I can function normally. I actually am more creative and easily inspired when I am on my period. Negative emotions aren’t the only thing that periods enhance.
My brother is 3 years older than me and says “you have an attitude” about once a week. Which, he has said to me “you must be on that time of the month.” Comments like this makes me not want a brother. I wish I was a man, truly
Arantza Rueckert Zubiria maybe you should go back and read what I said I SAID “MOST BOYS” not “ALL BOYS”
Lucy how does your 3 yr old brother already know? seems too young to know
Wow I as a Man, i don’t know what to say, all I would say is I respect every girl or woman.
❤️
thank you 💜 i respect you for listening to and respecting us!!
Thank you ❤
Thank you 💜 I’ve gotten into arguments with like 5 guys in the comments.
Thanks means a lot! A lot the guys have been arguing in the comments so it’s nice to know someone cares. I respect u too. Have an amazing day! (And periods do suck feels like someone is stabbing your uterus.)
I never even knew any of this was happening until just recently. I have always taken for granted how open my mother was to talking about my period with me. She would always ask me if I was on my period and make sure I had enough PADs. One day, I remember crying on my toilet because I was having such horrible cramps, I can't imagine not being able to tell my mom about that and not getting the things I needed to feel better. Honestly, I was on the fence about making sanitary products free but now I 100% think they should be.
Me: feeling miserable about my period and lack of supplies
Me: opens RUclips and sees this on my recommendation
Watching this video really helped me know I didn't I wasn't the only one who went through/is going through stuff like this. Always has been really helpful. I remember when I was in high school they visited my school to educate all the female Students about periods and gave a sample pack of pads to all female students. They visited twice during my highschool and I can never forget what I've learnt. Most mothers are ashamed to talk about periods with their daughters ( I still don't understand why). Growing up I used to be so ashamed to go get a sanitary pad from a store so I'll beg one of my female friends to help purchase it for me. During the holidays when I'm home and don't have my friends around I'd rather cut pieces of clothes and stuff them with tissue like a pad because I'd learnt using tissues wasn't safe as they could break in pieces and get stuck in your body thus causing infertility so they was a safer alternative for me. Being a women on earth is really difficult especially when you don't have an adequate support system.
when I was homeless in highschool & even some times now, If I don’t have a pad or tampon, I’d either ask a friend or I’d go to a public restroom and roll enough toilet paper to hopefully be able to last all day. I’m ashamed to tell anybody that irl. & I didn’t think there were other women who do the same.
Whenever I have money now, I buy the biggest package I can afford so It’ll be able to last me as long as possible. If I run out, back to the toilet paper it is, until I can buy other ones.
when I first started my period and I ran out of pads while in school, my cousin told me to take off my sock and stuff it with tissues as a substitute. I ended up getting a dress code violation for not wearing my uniform socks.
I need to donate to you
This is why I bring A LOT of pads at school. I don't have a regular flow because of hormonal imbalance but I want to help other women who got theirs unexpectedly at school. How I hope you had a better experience growing up.
I'm so sorry that you have to go through that. ☹️
oh god that's rlly bad...
I think it’s also important to talk about endometriosis as well as period poverty. Period pain that affects your daily life/occurs whenever you have your period is not normal.
Yes! 1 in 10 women people, 1 in 10 women. It breaks my heart to see debilitating pain pushed aside like it's just "something all women go through", when chances are it's a disease that's slowly getting worse as it goes untreated.
I BELIEVE WHOLE HEARTEDLY THAT WOMENS SANITARY PRODUCTS SHOULD BE FREE
*Sponsored by ALWAYS* , okay Always that's a message for you to reduce the price of your sanitary products.
Exactly!
Facts
Or even better. Make them free.
@@user-hh3go9po3v it seems like it's something for the government do. How can a company make these products free? They need to buy things to made it, pay workers etc.
Miih Oh yeah. I know that. But I’m saying in the long run they should be free
"The pads that the school was provided weren't very protective"
YOUR SCHOOL GIVES YOU PADS?????? MINE DOESN'T EVEN HAVE TOILET PAPER
The school nurse has them but they suck ass lol. My highschool ran out of toilet paper and soap all the time
My school makes you pay 25 cent for one and you can only buy two and that’s it
LOL same
@@estherx5859 at least you can buy some if you have any problems ...
My female gym teacher does but that’s out of her own will.....
I realized im lucky for having many pads in my period days..
but.. but you still have your “period days” 😭
@@strawberrypockystick1813 Right , 😭😭😭😭😭
I’m very blessed and grateful to live in a household that was comfortable with talking about periods. Many times I’d run out of pads and
/or be in so much pain I couldn’t move and my dad would be my hero and run to go buy me pads, pain killers and snacks. He understood it was a painful experience and would let me stay in bed while he did all my chores and make sure I was feeling okay or if I needed anything else. I strive to find a husband to do the same for my future daughters.
