The drone images simply take the prize. It's a tool well employed, here. Very nice work
I assume it's from Mr. Gibbs.
Brilliant, Tom! good laugh seeing your run-in with the Hassy. "I'm going in"
I was just in Awe of Tom that afternoon: Man, he worked for this video and it really shows. Probably my favourite of the trip.
Happy to see that the planet Mars is open for tourists again! 😀
Seriously though, that landscape with the storm is totally otherworldly. Stunning shots, especially the drone ones.
Sandcastle • hey, dont know if it was your intention or im simply misinterpreting, but i get the feeling that you’re criticizing a current behavior. But most of the islandic trees were chopped down about 1000 years ago by the vikings. Currently they are trying to regrow forrests
You know, I think your true calling here is cinematography.
Absolute joy to watch your storytelling.
natasha haggard if I remember correctly, Tom was a cameraman in a former life.
These barren landscapes scream for B&W. Glad you did some Sir Thomas.
What an incredible moment, great video Thomas! Love it.
They look like photos that have come back from the curiosity rover, stunning!
Your enthusiasm in this video is absolutely infectious. It is what makes landscape photography so special!
I love this high-impact, go, go, go photography. I could watch it all day.
Looks like fun times. Wish I could have made it. I'd have just left the camera in the bag as those drone clips and photos were lush.
You've taken a lot of outstanding photos this trip but I'd be outright lying if I were to say those drone shots aren't some of my favourites too. Amongst the best drone shots I've ever seen in fact. What a moment
Agree, those drone photos are beyond epic. It's the contrast by the water that makes them.
It's fantastic to see the enthusiasm this trip has instilled in you. You can see the spring in your step!
The dusty mountain, I love it! There is so much atmosphere, as you well know, ha. And it is perfectly placed in the frame. Lovely and so simple.
That final image is outstandingly beautiful, what a landscape!
Breathtaking. Some people will say that you were lucky to get those shots, no the harder you work the luckier you will be. There's years of practice failure and bloomin hard work to produce such fantastic images.
Wow! that drone shot is absolutely stunning!
The photo of the mountain you don't know if you like it or not... it's really beautiful in my humble opinion!!!
The drone images are hands down the best images in this set.
if ever a YT video deserved a thumbs-up, this has got to be it. Absolutely outstanding in every way.
It really does look just like some of the images from Mars. Absolutely stunning.
The last one of the mountain in the warm glow might be the best!
Man for what it's worth, I love the final shot of the isolated mountain. Looks like a scene straight from Mars
Beautiful, simply beautiful - end of story.
The late Thomas Heaton! Looking forward to this one mate
"Lens cap off". Best piece of advice ever!
@@ThomasHeatonPhoto definitely the best advice,we have all been there!
You made me think he had died 😅
@@ThomasHeatonPhoto You're welcome mate - I'm a total pro!! LOL
@@Trolleyfox LOL, sorry about that!!
I swear I could hear Darude playing in the background ;) Epic photos, I love the frantic nature of the video.
The motion blur actually fits the kodak portra image well and gives it an alien feeling
Thanks for taking us along. I always enjoy the story. The drone photos were fantastic.
No Medium Format Film camera, tripod or filters and yet some of the best photographs of the trip from a handheld camera. It’s all about the best equipment, is the equipment in your hand at the right moment. Great Work.
As soon as the dust came in. Dude. audio and cinematography on point. Very dramatic. Very fine!
It is very impressive that the drone managed to fly without mishap in a dust storm. The last two images taken with it are absolutely gorgeous. What an adventure!
Those bleak minimalist simple images, were some of the best I’ve seen from you Tom...
Those drone images are gorgeous. Love the energy about what many would feel is a lost opportunity to photograph. Beautiful scenery for an unworldly view of our world.
What a beautiful landscape! Love all the images, but especially the drone shots.
The drone shots win the day!
beside those phenomenal pictures.. the choice of music pushes this video so much.. great work!
One big thank you for this amazing video Tom! What a feast to watch... Love the dramatic setting and the complete story. Thanks!
Those drone images are some of your best images ever... 👍🏻
Exceptional series of the desert storm. Love the simplicity of the images yet very impactful.
Amazing conditions, and those drone shots, absolutely stunning! 👍
Majestic yet simple. Brilliant shooting Tom
Fantastic drone work! I love it when nature makes you work for it. Love following this series.
Love this one. Nice adventure and great photos Tom. Cheers
Like the surface of Mars. Fantastic.
I just loved that last film image. it was otherwordly. Thank you, every time I watch your videos for free on youtube, it compensates google using my data.
You go to some pretty Epic places man - really enjoy the film shots
I loved all the images - the drone images were the cherry on top! Thanks for always providing the inspiration to get going!
Huu!.....my God what a weather.😮 Those Images taken with your Drone are beautiful in B&W. 👍
Hey Tom, Happy Teacher's Day to you... Learnt a lot about photography from you over the years and thought I take the time to convey the same to you, so a big huge thank you to you. Thank you Thomas!
Mind blowing shots! The drone shots are AMAZING!
This video, with the images, the sandstorm, the background music, this has to be one of your greatest ever videos, and that is saying something considering the high standard of content on this channel.
Looks like a planet nowhere near us. Amazing work!!!
And now you have a good idea what the Mars rovers put up with. And the rocky ground looks so much like the scenery you see in the photos sent back from the red planet.
Thanks for sharing Thomas.
The isolated mountain is my favorite. I love how the rocks are running in a diagonal in the foreground and the softness of the mountain.
Wow you've landed on another planet black and white really emphasises it
The drone pictures are stunning.
This looks like the photos I've seen of Mars. Beautiful!
Pictures are amazing as always. But, what amazed me was that motion graphic through which camera settings popped, with that whoosh! sound effect.
It was so subtle and amazing that I watched it again and again.
I’m looking at these images... and they feel like Mars landscapes!!! Amazing.
breathtakingly beautiful
Loved the drone pano shot - absolutely phenomenal shot. Superb video
What an experience. And you make it so real. The isolated mountain (the one you have yet to make you mind up about) -- it's stunning. Not in the "epic" sense, but in the "places like this actually exist" sense. And I love it: "Settings Unknown". I can just imagine.
Saved the best till last with the drone photos. Stunning
That individual mountain shot is like a post apocalyptic lonely mountain from the Hobbit, love it 😍
Wow great series of photos Tom! And yes the drone photos in particular are to die for!
I love the drone photos! Spectacular!
Absolutely wonderful. Inspiring. Thank you.
some of your best work Tom. that mountain shot you stated that you are unsure of is stunning. its mysterious and not an obvious shot.
Love the last image on film of the mountain... so much intrigue and asks you questions
Fantastic shots, Tom! Looked like a great experience.
The photos look like they are taken on Mars, great video. Thanks again Thomas
What a treat indeed! Loved every photo!
Those drone images... nothing to say but, "Wow!" What a fantastic experience.
The drone shots are absolutely sublime Tom bravo buddy👌👌👌 you gotta be in it to win it!!!!
Got to say wow about that drone pano shot of the dusty landscape, that’s a stunner for sure!
I’ve loved catching up on this series of videos as my interest had started to pick back up again, it’s always your videos that inspire me to want to get out again the most.
The drone shots are just gorgeous!
What an adventure! The last film image looked really good, but the drone images where my favourites, otherwordly.
Amazing video as always Tom! Superb work!
The last couple of shots with the manic air pro where amazing. Really amazing.
Absolutely crazy, incredible B&W shots, even blurry film shots are stunning! What epic dust storm you had!
Incredible conditions. The two drone shots at the end were excellent 👍👏
A very enjoyable video Thomas! I think you did great in some very challenging conditions .
Thomas, I really liked the grayscale work. I think it was a wise choice to show this landscape and all its details. Ansel Adams would be proud. 😎🤙🏼
Music and editing make this feel like a Nat Geo feature. Great stuff
Drone footage is ethereal. Epic. Amazing. 👍
Stunning video and amazing images. Thank you!
I've really been enjoying the side by side film and digital videos Thomas! Thanks man! I really liked 8:34, motion blur and all.
There's nothing like wind-blown clouds of micro-shredded volcanic glass to make a photography trip really special. I'd be terrified to expose my gear to those elements but sometimes it's worth it, as you showed.
You mentioned in Alister's video that you never considered drones as true photography tools until this trip. I say, just think of them as really, REALLY tall and mobile tripods. I think those were indeed your best images
Wow!Every image is epic...
Love this video
Every photo is so beautiful.. it looks like a Martian landscape or some other world.
This was just otherworldly! Great video Thom! One of my favorites was the one you were unsure about. The Looming Giant.
Amazing scenery, stunning drone images, the whole place looks other worldly
The drone images are jaw droppingly beautiful! Also quite liked a couple of the XT-3 shots! When seeing the first pics in this video I immediately thought 'this is like Mars'.
Finally, I think this shows very much that conditions are so much more defining the image than the landscape. Shooting with dark or moody weather gives me my favorite shots. This sanstorm with this location would have been a dream!
Nice video as always...got to love the cycliste in the wind !
Wow what stunning photos . Especialy the drone panorama it is amazing!
Outstanding, all of them Tom.
Amazing set of images and one of your best videos. They were all brilliant photos but you were right about the drone shots being the best.
Drone shots awesome, and that last land based one of the shrouded peak is superb too
This looks like a fantastic experience
Fantastic imagery, sound production and visual impact! I'm at a 'loess' for words. :-)
