    The most I have spent to date on a watch is $400 US. I own 18 watches in all and enjoy them immensely!

    Totally right. Collecting watches is all subjective feeling good about the pieces.
    Allways nice to see reviews which are all about the watches and not about the prices and buying situation! Keep going like this!

    Love that Seiko on that gorgeous strap. I am wearing the "concrete" versio of that watch on a nive canvas strap. I am eyeing the green dial version on a strap.

    Both of those are handsome ass watches. I am not a huge Rolex fan, but this one looks the business. The SRPE Seikos are fantastic and I got the 51, gray dial with bracelet and love it. I am the opposite of the watch snobs, I give a watch more credit if it is priced at a reasonable amount (if it is still made in Japan or Switzerland or Germany). I am new to watches and have become a Seiko fanboy fast. I bought all 4 colors of the SNK800 series field watches. I have my fathers early 70's Seiko 5 (UFO with orange dial). Now I am looking at the green and blue versions of the Seiko land tortoise as they look so cool. My god Seiko, stop financially breaking me.

    In my opinion, this is one of the best vids giving advice on watch collecting. It is so easy to get wrapped up in all the reviews available on RUclips & buy watches that the channels direct you to or watches that you feel you should own, to be with the in crowd. No matter what the specs, it doesn’t automatically follow that you will like a more expensive watch than what you already possess. It must be a major disappointment when the latest fad watch doesn’t live up to expectations.

      Thank you Martin. Glad you enjoyed it. Yes, its a reason why often collectors sell watches soon after purchasing them. One often sees the usual popular watches for sale; SKX007, Ocean One, Black Bay 58, etc. Often collectors are influenced by watch forums, Facebook groups, or RUclips channels; to buy the watch and validate their collection. However they later regret the purchase as they didn't buy the watch as they personally liked it; it was because they felt pressured or influenced to do so. The feel good factor comes from wearing a watch one chooses oneself, not chosen by other collectors. I honestly don't care what anyone else thinks of my Seiko 5; I didn't buy it for them, I bought it for myself. It really should not matter to a collector what anyone else thinks of their watch, or watch collection. Upgrading to a more expensive watch, doesn't always mean increasing the feel good factor; sometimes one should just be satisfied with what one already has in a collection. Regards, #WR4K

    Any opportunity to review a Grand Seiko in the future?

    Absolutely wonderful video! I always enjoy your outlook and consistency regardless of price. You have successfully entered the joy of collecting where others studiously avoid the same. My San Martin blue variant BB58 and RLG Odyssea are behaving like chronometer grade Swiss pieces. +1 second(s) per day and negligible beat error. And the joy factor is extremely high.
    2022 should bring you much happiness.

      Thank you K. Glad you enjoyed it. Congratulations, the SN008-G, and Odyssea; are both excellent pieces. Wear yours in good health. I agree, the feel good factor of wearing those pieces is excellent. I got that connection with them as soon as I tried them on. When I declare a watch "a champagne watch for lemonade money" the feel good factor is one of the criteria. The price of the piece doesn't influence that. It simply comes down to; does this watch feel good when I wear it? Yes or no? With the SN008-G, and Odyssea, yes they both have that quality. You make a good point about the excellent accuracy. It really isn't necessary to pay more for a watch when one is getting +1 seconds/day accuracy from a watch with a 9015 or PT5000. Regards, #WR4K

    What happened to the other Rolex that was your only one piece. Did you sell that and then buy this one ? Ray

    Yet another great video. Thank you. I wholeheartedly agree that cost does not matter to the feel good factor of watches. What does matter to me is the quality of the build of the watch. For example I’ve got several high tier watches including Rolex, Omega and Glashutte Original. All very well made watches. But so is my Nth and Christopher Ward watches for a fraction of the price. Late Happy New Year by the way😉

    My feel good factor was a watch that cost £139. I loved it as soon as I seen it, now it’s a watch I built myself that cost me under £100
    Question, which watch will you wear the most, 🙈
    Great review 👍

    Great video. I really like srpe series. The other negative I found out is that the polished bezel is prone to small scratches quite easily.
    Would you consider to upgrade the Hirsch strap with a stainless steel butterfly clasp to reduce the folding stress on the leather or is that not necessary with this brand?

    • @watchreviews4k
      @watchreviews4k  2 года назад +3

      Hirsch do offer the strap with a deployant clasp. However I prefer the buckle and tang version. I find their straps to be durable even with daily use. Regards, #WR4K

    What's your opinion on Seiko mods? I've built myself a submariner hommage in a sterile sub 116610ln case with a NH35 and custom Seiko dial made to be a maxi dial with applied Seiko logo.
    Would love to hear your opinion on this compared to a Pagani design

    • @watchreviews4k
      @watchreviews4k  2 года назад +1

      I like modified Seiko watches. I started modding SKX007's in 2016, then Vostok Amphibia's, then Steinhart Ocean One's. I have also modified Pagani Design PD-1661's (see video below as an example). I worked out the SKX bezel inserts fit the PD-1661. Regards, #WR4K
