More specifically, if you have your text speed set to slow or medium, N will ignore that and use the fast text speed, and if your text speed is set to fast, he'll use an even faster text speed unique to him

People for real hated these games when they came out. Looking back on them now, both BW and BW2 are masterpieces of Pokémon
tbh the people that hated them were the ubercasuals who just wanted to see more Charizard and Pikachu. The same people that last played a pokemon game in 2016 when they played GO for a month then dropped it.
I felt like this sentiment will come back a few years for gen 6 lmao 😂
And now people look back at them with so much nostalgia, that they ignore anything wrong with them. One extreme to the other.
@@xiGoinHam I mean there really aren't many problems that gen 5 has that aren't also present to an even greater extent in at least one of the other games in the series. There are certainly glaring problems compared to the JRPG genre as a whole, but as far as Pokémon goes it's the best we're apparently going to get, unless they give us a legends sequel with all the kinks ironed out and way nicer graphics.
@@Highstar25 they're def not Uber casuals lmao. I remember back then, every discussions of a gen's flaws and the retort is "at least it's not gen 5!" No, they're definitely hardcore pokemon fans that grew up with the previous gens
im pretty young, so when i was growing up, around 7/8 years old, black and white was the generation going at the time. i remember waking up at 6am on a saturday to catch the show. i played both the black and white version on my DSi all the way through multiple times. i didn’t even really know there were other generations until a couple years later. i feel really lucky to grow up on this gen.
Same here! I'm 18, B&W was a defining game (and show) of my childhood. I have so much love for it :)
Would love to have been able to watch the show when I was younger. In the UK it started at 10am, my parents said no TV after 9am!

I had the same experience, except for completing it multiple times.
I was so bad at any kind of RPG that I would just get stuck after the first gym, and then I would restart from the beginning. Although, I do remember getting a Victini at some point and using for a while, so I must have made it farther in at least one playthrough.
Streams like this are why I'm so glad there's a vod channel. When I got the notif for this stream, it came with another notif that another one of my fave streamers was live. I was too busy to watch either stream though, so at least I can watch one in post!! Thank you for uploading these!!!!

Agreed; my work just recently decided on a set rule about earbuds instead of violently swinging back and forth between 'okay' and 'not okay', and they decided on 'not okay'. It was fine to have one in over the summer as long as you weren't on the floor/in a station where you interact with customers and are working on your own, so I got to tune in to quite a few streams to help pass the time. Can't do that anymore, so now I have something to look forward to after work. Time to curl up with a snack and a drink and get emotionally attached to fodder pokemon way too fast lol. I'm still itching to do some artwork for the original nuzlocke, and I know I'll be wanting to draw something from this one too

This and the Phoenix Wright series have been such comforts for me lately ♥️
Black and White really were a hell of a time to play when they came out. Loved all the new pokemon. The story wasn't extremely bland. Music slapped. Post game was lit. Just a great pokemon Gen all around.
Black and White were amazing games, then Black and White 2 came out and just fixed all the issues they had to make a near-perfect experience
And now we have sword and shield. What happened Nintendo?

The shiny Dialga comes from an event where you could get one of the Creation Trio from GameStop and they would be shiny. I remember getting one for my birthday. It was a shiny Giratina and he now lives happily in Pokemon Moon :>

55:18 I wondered what the word "Gropius" meant, his last name, and so I googled it. Gropius is german for gropius. Harmonia is Latin, and google translate said gropius is latin too, and the latin word Gropius, means Croup.
Croup is apparently an english word for "Inflamation of the larynx and trachea in children, associated with infection and causing breathing difficulties"
So unless "Child Throat Infection/inflammation" is his last name to signify how his own voice was stifled when he was a child by Ghetsis imprinting his philosophy on him, I don't think that's it.
Apparently, Gropius is a german surname derived from the old high german "Graban" meaning "To dig", and was originally used to indicate "A digger of graves or ditches".
However, because of the architect Walter Gropius, it is apparently associated with the word Architect, so maybe that's what they're intending by Natural Harmonia Gropius, an architect of natural harmony. That certainly was to be his role, after all.

With the help of mysterious Letter-shaped pokemon, they made all of reality, including Mew, and Mew's descendants evolved over time into all the other pokemon, except Mewtwo the horrific science experiment, Magneton the forced evolution, mechyarna the automoton, and various other pokemon that came about from human means, like Banette the abandoned children's toy, the living trash piles, the Kilnklang line of gears, and the a.i. Porygon.

I really hate that I never got to have a 3ds, I really wanna try to pokemon games for it. They seemed fun, and I've heard BW/BW2 have the best stories in the entire series.

I have twitch, its just I don't get on it enough and its been a buggy mess for me the past year with constant buffering and audio distortion and more. My ADHD doesn't help where if I read chat I tune out the video.
So it's great to see the streams here so that way I can see what happened. It's also gonna be great to see you go Unova, especially with it being a generation you love and a Generation I love and grew up with.

The timing for these uploads is amazing. I’ve just started uni after a two year gap. Was nervous to come back, but something about listening to rt play a nuzlock while I’m doing homework is incredibly comforting. Excited to see how this play through turns out.

Gen 5 is my favorite Generation too so when I saw this I was SO stoked and wanted to catch the live stream but couldn’t. I’m so glad it’s on the archive channel. The story in this one is probably my favorite.

You have to show more love for Patrat. I had one in my W2 nuzlocke all the way to the E4. I tried so many times to give Olive the slip, but everything in her slot just kept dying. She absolutely pulled her weight in the final fights. Honestly, Watchog is up there in my favorite normal types.
Watchog gets hypnosis if I’m not mistaken so that’s certainly useful when it works.

Edit: Audino can have regenerate is decently bulky, Seismitoad water ground is a good typing and is a staple from rain teams, unfezant can have super luck plus air cutter plus scope lens equals spread crit.
Nah they're a bit shit. Musharna, Stoutland and Mincinno are the best, and musharna is a worse reiun(not a bad role to have). Stoutland is decent overall but needs intimidate support for longevity. Mincinno just dies to everything. Not a lot of particularly good nuzlocke mons in the early routes
I do wish he used tympole though, seismitoad is a monster in this game. And I'm realizing now you may have meant competitive viability, so my bad

Snivy is pronounced like ivy and is certainly best gen 5 starter imo; then again I chose grass types like every gen except gen 2

the limited 3d joke originates from saltydkdan's own nuzlocke of pokémon black. it started as a donation with the message "god i love the limited 3d in this game its so charming", but with how delayed donation messages were on salty's stream, the original donor sent it again in hopes of getting the word out about the aesthetically pleasing graphics of the game. salty's chat, however, saw the repetition and then proceeded to drive it into the fucking ground in all contexts possible. after a compilation of the highlights of salty's nuzlocke became a 5-hour longform behemoth of a video, it proceeded to blow up and spread the meme even further.

1:45:22 In my Pokémon White, I caught a Deino and got her all the way to Level 64 before the 24-hour mark with my sheer determination, a Lucky Egg, and a bunch of Audinos, then destroyed Ghetsis with a Level 64 Hydreigon. It felt so satisfying.
Learning that event trick was so game changing for me
I played most of the pokemon but pokemon white was the one that I truly fell in love with and I still call it my favorite pokemon
I can't wait for the highlights on Dan's channel, so much so that I need to watch this now I remember him streaming this and BW(2) are honestly timeless masterpieces they were the peak of pokemon, gen 4 were really good games with a terrific sound track and fun mechanics like the ball seals and the mining mini games etc. Gen 5 had the most new content, the only real sequel and not remake, a compelling story that was actually incorporated into the main campaign instead of just "Hey you have to beat the champ and get 8 badges and also stop a criminal organization on the side before you do." This game weaved both so expertly it was amazing, it had the best soundtrack and individual soundtrack in each route for each season and even night/day. And it had the most post game.
Was sad rt wasn’t gonna be continuing the ace attorney series……. Until I found out he was playing this absolute masterpiece!
Most of the beginning part of this run follows the philosophy of at least we don't have to worry about getting it again later, with the exception being Drillbur.
Edit: I appreciate that Dan considered the forest one area even though I know that divided people. But this being a Nuzlocke, giving yourself so many chances to catch insane pokemon by having so many seperate zones diminishes the challenge of this being a Nuzlocke. You can still catch good pokemon through strategic use of repels so it's honestly a good thing that he stuck to the area's that are huge as one zone. Then of course negating that good argument by having Victini thrown into the mix is a classic Dan move so I don't fecking know rofl. 😅
The only problem I have so far is the lack of respect you have for tympole. When it's fully evolved it has good defense and attack and I personally think it's just good in general
Yes but fully evolving takes time, and he can’t evolve it if he gets team wiped

Me watching this cause I know for sure I played through this game, but I can't for the life of me remember what it was about, other than all the peta memes and that N became my favorite pokemon character ever at the time
If audino can learn heal bell or some support moves like that, it could be really helpful as it seems Rt can't use items in battle.

I never got the chance to use the Entree link feature growing up because I didn’t have anyone that had also played B&W so if they do make a remake of B&W they definitely should make it completely online so anyone can use it imo
