Adam you seem to love the adventure type board games, i suggest you play the game "sword & skull" eventually I've played it multiple times with friends and we've all had a blast playing it cuz how the game ends depends on how you play it.
Two things, I believe Blair's card reads that she must use ships released from the warp to establish a colony. So on her second turn, she shouldn't have gained a colony, as she had no ships in the warp. Second, Laurie's card states that he decides which ships go to the warp, not the opposing players.
The Jon/Laurie side of the table reminds me of those old cartoons with the yappy little dog who talked a lot and the big, strong bulldog who wore a bowler hat and didn't talk much.
One of the reasons Hate feels so weak in this game is that you missed the part of the ability that lets Hate "choose the ships" to destroy. possibly kill 3 foreign colonies per player
I played as the Hate just a few hours before watching this video, and I did exactly that. Removed three foreign colonies from a player by choosing his ships
A note on Laurie's Hate card. I believe it states that Laurie should have been able to pick the ships that the other players sent to the warp if they didn't match his card. Meaning he could have removed other player's foreign colonies. "...or else look three ships of *your choice* to the warp."
When Laurie used the power of Rage it is HE that gets to decided which ships the other players lose, not them. That is pretty important as he could make them abandon colonies.
Oh my goodness, when they put Laurie's hat on the artwork of his race card I nearly spat out my drink. You're a god damn king Mr. Blake, and don't let those sycophantic lovey losers tell you otherwise!
This IS a prescribed order of operations in the alliance phase. Offense invites, defense invites, and THEN players commit, in clockwise order from the offense. This is so players whose turns will be coming up next must commit one way or the other, and then they are stuck with their decisions. Usually, as the first couple of players commit, they tend to set the trend. A player allying later may have wanted to join one side, but as they see where everyone else is joining, often they change their minds.
Also, Plague can only be played in Regroup, BEFORE one knows they are going to be attacked (as determined by destiny). I know the rulebook is kind of terrible, but still. Yeah, I'm that guy.
@@jackredathewarp When I play/run this my firends joked I need a gavel. It's hard to set that aside. I winced when Laurie played Plague out of order. But its not about that. (I also love this game and just taught it to my niece and her friends.)
Feels like Board Game Club classic with these six. Obviously love everyone that comes on, but also lovely to see the regulars all together in the same room.
With this episode, you mark a huge milestone, where the amount of Draughts BGC episodes released equals the amount of Zoom BGC episodes! (Since the two first BotC were released as BGC episodes before it became its own show.) 40 Zoom Board Game Clubs, 40 Draughts Board Game Clubs! Congratulations on that milestone! I absolutely love how the roles came out this way, particularly Love, Hate, and Loser just seem to have aligned perfectly with their respective players. And Jon is somehow unraveling 10 minutes in - you gotta love it! Now I'm really hoping he'll get the Gambler token in the next BotC so he can carry on this character there!
God, what a throwback. Near a year ago, when I'd just moved house and was living without my parents for the first time, the original video on constant replay kept me sane
Time for more board game fun! The best part is seeing the NRB gang expand their wings outside of this channel and have success yet still returning for more board game fun here. Such a great group of people.
No rolls barred has quickly become my favourite channel in the past 12 months, i never miss an episode! I’d love to see you guys bring back games from the zoom era / online era . Like telestration , wavelength etc.
Really stoked to see you guys play this again! I’ve just purchased Cosmic (because I watched your first play through!) and the lads and I are actually getting together this coming long weekend to play it together for the first time! Quality timing, quality content!
Round 2 baby! Let’s go! My family have actually gotten the game sense the first video and we absolutely love it. Thank you for playing and introducing it to us.
I can tell Tom has been on a similar cooking RUclips short binge to me. Last week with the Ocky reference and now with the don't yuck my yum from Dooby haha
the board game that got me into boardgaming for real! I still remember getting a giftcard for 40 dollars and using it to buy this game from my FLGs! Ill never say no to more cosmic encounter.
I'd love to see them play the new The Thing game, actually. I love and own Outpost 31, but I love the new game more. It's very different in some ways and very similar in others, but I think it fixes some issues I had with Outpost 31. It also just released in retail, so I wouldn't be surprised if the publisher were willing to send them a free copy to help promote the game.
@@supermonkey321 That's a good idea! I was considering buying one of The Thing games and, if it is meant to be better and cheaper, I might get the new one instead.
As a CE newb, I wasn't sure if playing with hidden roles was a good idea, especially if I am planning to play this with my non-hobby gaming friends. After watching this, I think this is absolutely the best way to play it, both from a rules overload standpoint (ie individual powers are slowly introduced into the game) and the FUN surprise factor!
I'm so glad you guys are kit only playing this game again but with the artifacts and gadgets, such a good game and although there are lots of rules it isn't hard to understand
I love the fact that the right half of the table has shirts that match their colors. Blair, Sully, and Tom, all did it, even if not intentional, and I wish they all did that.
12:00 I am very sad that Tom didn't do a bit where he confirmed with Sully that he successfully defended in that encounter... only to do nothing about it, since he's not a Tick Tock this time.
Cosmic is awesome, glad to see another playthrough. Just like with BotC, there's just no way these roles were chosen randomly! well done all, what a tense game.
Okay so this is coming from someone that, admittedly, hasn't played this game, but from my understanding reading blair's power, she shouldn't have been able to win the game at the end since, from my understanding reading the text of her card, she needed to use ships released from the warp to establish her colony and she had no ships in the warp at the time. Again, I might be mistaken but that's my interpretation of what the text means. Still, great episode and shout out to Jon "The Second Coming of Edward Thorp" Gracey.
I noticed the same, with Cosmic Encounter at least one rule gets broken/ignored/misinterpreted every game though. It's not a big deal as long as the players around the table have fun.
Your first Cosmic Encounter video inspired me to buy the game (though it was a bit expensive in my country), had to blow a hole in my wallet. 😂 Nonetheless, very happy with the purchase. Now I have to make friends to play this. 😂😂😂
I love this, I really hope they don't get put of by this one getting less views than the other, I feel like this has potential to be one of the best series on this channel if they take out some of the less fun aliens
i love how the colors they're playing as are reflected in their appearances: tom is wearing green, sully is wearing blue, blair is wearing white, adam...has yellow on his shirt, laurie...is wearing pink...which is kinda sorta like purple, and jon is red in the face during the entire game
ADAM: For uncut Board Game Club episodes, exclusive Clocktower eps, access to our Discord and MORE, join NRB's Patreon www.patreon.com/NoRollsBarred
Love shouldn't have won there. Blair had no ships in the warp to get back to establish the colony.
Adam you seem to love the adventure type board games, i suggest you play the game "sword & skull" eventually
I've played it multiple times with friends and we've all had a blast playing it cuz how the game ends depends on how you play it.
Jon always plays the odds. Unfortunately, Jon doesn't always know how odds work
I thought i was reading Douglass Adams for a second there.
*doesn’t ever*
That’s odd
I'd like the odds on that
Two things, I believe Blair's card reads that she must use ships released from the warp to establish a colony. So on her second turn, she shouldn't have gained a colony, as she had no ships in the warp. Second, Laurie's card states that he decides which ships go to the warp, not the opposing players.
I was about to write this as well. Blair should not have won this with her power, as she did not have any ships in the warp.
I saw that live too then spent 10 mins reading comments to see if it had already been mentioned.
Yeah stuff like that happens
Games like this it’s impossible to not make a mistake in the 1000 rules.
Doesn't her card also state that it's optional to discard a card?
The Jon/Laurie side of the table reminds me of those old cartoons with the yappy little dog who talked a lot and the big, strong bulldog who wore a bowler hat and didn't talk much.
Bit harsh on Laurie. He’s not that yappy
Jon's gambling had me in stitches every damn time
One of the reasons Hate feels so weak in this game is that you missed the part of the ability that lets Hate "choose the ships" to destroy. possibly kill 3 foreign colonies per player
Also he immediately revived ships after he destroyed a lot of them e_e
@@TheWeapon33yeah, but he was dealing with the masochist problem
I played as the Hate just a few hours before watching this video, and I did exactly that. Removed three foreign colonies from a player by choosing his ships
Somehow, every round of Cosmic gives the players increasingly perfect roles.
If they do this again, I cannot wait until someone gets Virus or Void. The sheer brokenness that will follow will be delightful.
A note on Laurie's Hate card. I believe it states that Laurie should have been able to pick the ships that the other players sent to the warp if they didn't match his card. Meaning he could have removed other player's foreign colonies.

Lauri couldnt read well because of the hate.

10 minutes in and John is unraveling. Outstanding.
Exactly what I was thinking. So glad he's back
I need more Cosmic Encounter please. Maybe once every 3 months but this game is endlessly entertaining!!
Instead of Clocktower we do Cosmic. That is unless we get more Clocktower

This has been one of the most enthralling, genuinely entertaining things I've seen this month!
Ohhhhh my goodness. Laurie's character reveal was perfect.
This game deserves its own section of monthly videos
It’s so strange to see Tom with so much… Utter Glee upon his Face…
Honestly, on a strategic level, the best play for Jon, on his last battle with Adam would have been to take the shared victory that Adam suggested.

Adam compared himself to a horse after Sully complemented his large teeth-filled smile. It’s confirmed, Sully has loved horses since the beginning
Yes! The original Cosmic Encounter video is still one of my all-time favorite episodes of Board Game Club! I'm very happy to see it return!
I like that Blair's card shows Love hugging/enveloping Hate, which is exactly how the game ended. These seem to get better and better each time!
Jon not understanding a bluff, what a pure soul.
Laurie as the Hate is utter perfection. I was laughing through his whole character reveal. Incredible.

First Rosie with her "most terrifying dice in all board games" burn and now Tom gets a kicking in, poor Adam.
As soon as the game starts everyone teams up on Sully, they are all just jealous because he’s the best at board games
29:00 Blair should put all ships released from the warp on tom's system.

Tom's voice with his dramatic timing is astoundingly pleasant😂😂
