It looks just incredible. Still feels weird that not only it's already finished but also that it even happened in the first place. Thank you Nukedrop for doing such a stellar job building the track, DDF for planning this thing and the community for backing you up and giving you all the support to make it happen.
Even just one week ago this project looked completely different to the official release. The amount of work and attention to detail that Nukedrop put into building this track, right up until the day before release, is absolutely incredible 👀 and I honestly couldn't be happier. All of my expectations were exceeded by a long shot and I'm sure if you ask him, they were pretty high to begin with 😅 It's surreal to see Circuit Thermalito come to life like this, it's been something I'd dreamed of for over a decade, so to see so many people downloading and enjoying it...I don't even know where to start 🧡
This is epic to see a track built around one of my local dam's. I live like 3 minutes from the Thermalito hydro dam and back in the 70s they ran boat drags just down from the dam on the Thermalito after bay.
That's awesome 😁 a proper local! Hopefully we've done the area justice and it's not too unbelievable. Trust me, a lot of time and effort went into researching Thermalito with the limited resources we had available to try and make it as authentic as possible. Of course there are roads on this circuit that don't exist in reality and we've taken some liberties making tunnels where the dam building should be 😅 but I'd be super keen to know your specific thoughts on the area. I'm not sure if you have Discord but you can find my email address on my About section on my main RUclips channel profile. I'd love to have a chat if you're interested and have the time 👍
It might be the happiest pit lane I've ever seen in my life 🤣 the photos from Kickstarter worked out so well! Thanks again for supporting the project and making it happen mate 🧡
The actual racing circuit itself might not be real, but the location and all of the roads are definitely real! Do a quick Google search for Thermalito Dam and you'll see 😉
Thank you Sean, not only for the congratulations but for making this happen in the first place on Kickstarter 😍 hope you're settling into your new garage spot nicely mate!
I remember doing so many races on this track back in the rF1 days, not a huge AC fan but I'll definitely boot it up for this one! Now if only someone would port this to rF2... :P
Yeah it seems like a long time ago when I made the original, to be fair it was 15 years ago now, but to be able to get Nukedrop onboard for this and have it re-made professionally was just amazing 🤩 can't believe how well it turned out! I've had a few people ask about an rF2 port now but unfortunately that's not something we'd be able to do at our end, would need someone from the rF2 modding community to take a look at it 👍
When I first made this circuit 15 years ago he was the governor of California (where the Circuit Thermalito is based) and had a sign in the exact same place 😉 so it didn't seem right to not include him again in this new version even though he's no longer in that role!
Yeah I just checked it out, looks like a lot of fun to drive! One of the cars I've got lined up for a leaderboard challenge next year is the Radical SR3 XXR, have you tried it? If so, how does it compare to the one you drove?
I believe that's Texas 🤠 but California is close enough ha! Hope you enjoy the new circuit mate and thanks again for supporting the project on Kickstarter 🧡 how's the new garage treating you?
A few years ago (cant remember when) I had first asked you about the possibility of bringing (the first iteration of) Thermalito to A.C. so this is amazing to see. Best fictional sim track ever. Lives on throughout generations of sims. Cant wait to try it. Btw I saw mention of new sections of track. Are these part of an extended / alternative layout or just the new configuration?
There was a conversion for Assetto Corsa made by RMI Wood a couple of years ago which was a welcome surprise and filled the gap nicely for a few community events but I've always wanted the opportunity to re-make it again properly. Thanks to the awesome community on the channel, we managed to get the funds through Kickstarter to hire Nukedrop, a professional developer, and...here it is! 😁 The majority of the track layout is the same but there have been a few changes. In summary: - start/finished relocated a few straights later to before the left/right chicane leading up the hill - esses at the top of the hill along the water tightened slightly to match real roads more closely - first tunnel lowered to match real life (original version was too high) which increases the elevation change on the downhill banked entry and also the esses after the tunnel - removed split banking from hairpin at the end of the backstraight and made elevation drop more sudden - 2nd tunnel exit completely reprofiled to remove the crest and awkward chicane - straight before the old final corner shortened to match real life roads - old final corner reprofiled to reduce elevation change and remove split banking - old start/finish straight shortened and gradient changed to match real life roads - straight between the old first hairpin and 90 left removed and replaced with a series of esses which head towards the right - old 90 left relocated further back to extend the straight and allow for the new start/finish area and pitlane - all bumps completely reprofiled to make them more realistic (bigger bumps smoothed out, general track surface bumps increased elsewhere though to remove that unrealistic 'smooth' feeling) - all runoff areas, kerbs and walls reprofiled to modern standards There are a LOT more changes around the circuit in terms of visuals, but in terms of the actual driving feel/experience, that above list should (mostly) cover it 👍
@@DDFRacer gonna make a coffee, put on some Racing gear and the VR headset and just stand outside the garage and take in the moment before I give the track a go. Looks amazing from what I've seen from your videos. I would love to join this years race. But with the newborn little racedriver here at home I need to be able to press ESC and pause at any moment 😅 Anyway, really cool that this project became reality 👍
@@captainflatspot mate! incredible news 😍 congratulations! I know that feeling all too well ha, the pause button is never more than a few seconds away. I'm extremely grateful for Mrs DDF for giving me the chance to do my streams each week, she's the real hero behind the channel ha
Thanks for the kind words Jonas 😁 however I don't think that converting to rF2 is an option at the moment, not from our end at least. Nukedrop who built this circuit specialises in Assetto Corsa and I don't think there's much crossover between the two sims unfortunately, it would need someone who's familiar with rF2 specifically to take on this project. You might have some success reaching out to rF2 modders who've done conversions previously and seeing if anyone might be interested 👍

Ooh even more awesome! Can't wait for the launch event!
Not long to wait at all 😉 might have to get Richo to sign up pretty quickly though if he wants to take part, it's filling up pretty quickly already!
That looks so good man well done!!!
Cheers Jimmy, can't wait to see what you make of your first few laps there!
