3301 Asp Scout: Worse at combat than a Cobra III, worse at trading than a t6, all for TRIPLE the price of both combined.

The ASP type cockpit is actually neet because in supercruise you can see everywhere
It's a real shame there are so many duff ships in this game with asset flipped cockpits. Over half of them are so badly designed that it's just not worth flying them.
The gap between diamondback and aspX is only like, two million credits. At that level of play, a type six can net you two million in a few hours play on a standard trade route. An hour or less of multicrew BH can net 2 million. The asp scout is a dumb ship that has no purpose.

Watched this and saved for the explorer instead.
Actually since the recent "buffs" and with heavy engineering this ship can be decent at combat.
On an off note flying this thing FA-Off near a planet surface is actually a very pleasing experience!
Unless you use a joystick for orientation :(
I can't even *run* Elite: Dangerous on my machine. A friend told me to look up gameplay videos about it, and uh... now i am here, watching these 'reviews' and listening to Yamiks.
I don't know how i got here in particular, but i'm fine with this.

At least the Hauler is the game's most economic space taxi.
Mp Extory well unlike the asp scout, hauler can be actually useful for cheap exploring or transferring other ships

I actually quite like this ship. Sure the economics make no sense, it has meh firepower and meh cargo space, but it's faster and more nimble than the AspX and I can still get a decent 43ly jump with a half-engineered FSD and booster. I've got railguns on the thing, and it can hold itself in combat. I also like the looks better than the AspX, but I guess that's an unpopular opinion.

Is it just me or are the engines on both asps really cool and the asp scout's wings are cool
I can tell Im gonna be in the minority here, but on paper... The asp scout should perform better than the Cobra mkiii in just about every aspect. Similar cargo space, pretty nice jump range, more hardpoints , more base shield and armor... Yeah I know the Cobra is a good ship that's a lot cheaper, but still seems like a decent upgrade despite the price tag. Okay, y'all can roast me now if you want
I'm probably going to regret saying this, because I can see it getting roasted when it gets reviewed, but I think that Lakon got the Chieftan right and it will be a great combat explorer, though I still need to see what engineering can do for it's jump range, with weapons and armor (gotta have hull because the shields suck for it's size, but that's Lakon in general) it kinda deteriorated to normal combat ship ranges pretty fast. But seriously, it's like they took an Asp X, stripped the chassis, added a new chassis, and put bigger and more plentiful guns on it. Oh, and made it look better imho
I bought it once. Instant buyer's remorse. Switched to DBX, and stuck with it since.
The Asp Scout should have been a smaller asp, not just a cheaper asp.maybe a civilian Asp MkI. This isn’t e good ship, it has absolutely no purpose and is equivalent, moreover, slightly inferior to the Viper MkIV. It not the worst ship stat wise, but it is the worst ship context wise.
im using an Asp Explorer now to engineer it as a pvp ship.
If I wanted to fly space target practice I would get a eagle, at least I would look good while doing it.
People say the Asp Scout as cheaper to a-rate than the Asp Explorer. This is false. If you down-rank modules on your Asp Explorer to the point that it performs equal to an Asp Scout, it has the same price tag. I compared the attributes carefully and aside from a few trivial points, the Asp Scout beats the Asp Explorer in exactly one category: maneuverability. But you can really just use the higher speed of the Asp Explorer to cover for the lost maneuverability so really you don't lose anything by switching to Asp Explorer. You only gain.
Only real problem the Asp Scout has is the Yamik sauce its fueled with.

You know whats sad? My friend explores in this ship. He has a 34 ly jump range. It actually does its job well. I might even try it. With a fsd booster and g5 engineering i could make this quite capable
Still horrible for the price. It has no reason to exist. It's the ship equivalent of shovelware
With an exploration build, it costs about the same as an AspX.

Plan is to perhaps get it for summer when every IRL thing is settled.. for now I prefer to focus on 1 thing (ED in this case)
There is still a lot of it left unfinished. They haven't even really addressed game modes that I have seen besides arena pvp and racing. But the pieces that are there look very promising if they can put some kind of coherent game behind it to drive things forward and make those assets interesting to use.

I feel bad that you even had to buy one to make this video. I've got 18 ships now, access to all if I want. Not once did the ASP Scout even cross my mind as an option as I was working my way up. Anywho, thanks for confirming my decision.

Class 5 FSD Booster with Grade 5 FSD range mod and typical explorer build?? I'm pushing 58-59 ly. Makes a good bubble hopper.
And a DBX will do far more for far less.

You know that this morning I made 525k in a low combat zone with a dimond scout i killed around 20 scouts and explorars so which ever shit was off there face on coke and said 'is combat good' needs to delete the fuckin game
