Darren I did 2 two wheeler tires with tubes in them and I'm telling you right now I wish that has seen this video before I did them. I did them backwards I know I did cuz I must have fought that tube to try and get it in there for 3 hours on each one. I was so mad. Thank you so much for the video man. That's awesome I know how to do it now and I will be looking for me some cheap screwdrivers to make spoons out of.
Oh man! I wish I had known about putting a few pounds of air in the tire 40 years ago, before trying to break the bead. I built one of those bead breakers in high school shop class around 1972. All I had to go by was a grainy illustration in a J.C.Whitney catalog. I expeirenced much "smooshing over" of the sidewalls, instead of the bead breaking properly. I got it to work a few times but eventually, it got relegated to the corner and after years of kicking it around, I threw it out. Now, I'm too old and knackered to change my own tires. Oh well. Great channel, mustie!
Thank you for posting this. It was extremely helpful to me in restoring a wheel barrow that was many years old and in pretty bad shape. I obtained the tube at Home Depot, and just followed your instructions, without which I would have had to bring the tire to some repair shop and paid more money. I also enjoyed your "show and tell" story. Who would have thought when you were just ten years old that someday you would be making a similar presentation to the "world".
Thanks for taking your valuable time to show us “how it’s done” ! You’ve been sharing your knowledge since you were ?10 yrs old. Just goes to show.....”there are talkers, and there are doers!” .......”there are takers, and there are givers!” You sir, are a doer, and a giver!
Awesome video man! This will help me greatly when I go to put my tube back into an atv I dismounted the tires from in order to slag blast the wheels and refinish them. But lo and behold, one tire had a tube. And I was .....ugh..... But now I should be alright
I am a new subscriber and have been enjoying your videos. A cool tool you MUST get for tube changing is one that is a 6" cable with a T handle on one end and a heavy duty valve stem cap on the other. Thread the cable through the hole, attach the valve cap to the tube and pull the T handle to work the stem into the hole. WELL worth the $5. Thanks for sharing your knowledge. Fred Ontario, NY
Two comments for you. Deflate the tube as much as possible. Reinsert the shrader valve with tube collapsed. Next get some baby power / talc and *liberally* put as much as possible in the tire and wheel so that everything becomes bone dry. Then sprinkle a *lot* on the tube. Then it will go *much easier* and when you add air, the tube will 'unwind' itself inside the tire/wheel. This is a standard method on general aviation aircraft tires. There really is no other approved way. The remaining talc powder will continue to absorb moisture. Surefire way to get longevity out of the tire and the tube.
1Puglife has a Honda tractor like yours he plow snow with it works great !! the 4x4 really works good. Wish I could find a Honda tractor like yours. :)
wow...thats crazy!! I had a old Bolens hydrostatic garden tractor where the previous owner foam filled the tires. They held up pretty nice for probably 20 years...then the sidewalls fell off. lol
Mustie1, I normally catch up on a whole channel worth of viewing once or twice a week, if it matters, U R one of the 5 channels I watch regularly. Ur VW interest is similar to my interest in Honda ATCs though, U seem to be under better control, I have brought home 10 so far this year.
Hey Mustie, Just had a similar situation with a atc tire, I felt around the inside of the tire, no nails or anything, did not notice the broken nut shells left by my mouse friends that popped the new tube for me. The amount of slime to fix a tire that size would cost about the same as the tube and the tube is a better solution.
take the tire outside and drive over the bead of the tire with the front tire of your truck, just the tire not the rim, makes quick work of getting the bead broke. I know this may not be for everyone but it works for us for over 30 years. see ya
i need to do the same think for my 5013. I am pretty sure i read on the mytractor forum that someone is making adapters for these so you can use atv tires.
I tried using Flex Seal on my lawn tractor tires. My advice: DON'T DO IT! It's wonderful for gutters and windows, not so for tires. I tried the inner tube. Works great now.
does the slime work i have a little honda, dirt bike i put a new tube in rode it left the kids ride the end of the day still fully inflated next day flat again im thinking if the slime would work might try that somethings punchering the tube
i put a tube in a 20x8.00 Carlisle tyre on ride on mower,,tyre pressure was 10 psi max. now with the tube in do i go to 10 psi,,i did pump up tube prior to putting in tyre and 5 psi the tube felt like it would burst.
Yah that air stuck in the tubeless.. will mess you up. I put tube in, come back next day and found flat tire... remove tube and try again. this whole time.. it was just trapped air.
if you use a tube can you refill to the original psi? I have a trailer tire that went up to 90 psi and got hit by a nail, would've been fine if I got it home and added a patch but limping it home made the sidewalls start to crack and it's leaking in a lot more places so I'm considering the tubeless.
J Michael Hajek I would check the inner tube carton before you buy and see if it has a pressure rating. Chances are the inner tube is a different max psi than the tire.
J Michael Hajek I may have been wrong in my last posting. I just bought 2 inner tubes last week and called the company I ordered them from. He told me you inflate the inner tube to the pressure rating on the tire. In your case I would make sure because 90 psi is a high pressure tire, most tires aren't inflated past 50 psi. You would want to make sure the inner tube could tolerate that high of a pressure.
Why did you even take one side of the tire off? Bead was broken. Push the tire down stuff it in and put the stem on the hole blow it up lol... 5 seconds later ready to mount.
Man, you make it look so easy. Fought none for 2 hours and lost. Thanks for the video.

The success we feel when applying knowledge from a You Tube video is gratifying. Thanks Mustie 1.

Love the screwdriver tire tools. Hope the tube didn't mind. And good to see the valve didn't shoot back inside when filled.

Thanks for the memories. I did more than a few tires that way back in the day. Good instructional video. Thanks for sharing.

Thank you for the walk through. Very helpful, as always.
Thanks. Very informative. I am going to try it on a wheelbarrow tire.
ive had mine 30 years too, supprised l dident loose it
1Puglife has a Honda tractor like yours he plow snow with it works great !! the 4x4 really works good. Wish I could find a Honda tractor like yours. :)
One time I removed the vice grip on the valve stem and there was not enough air in the tube , it went Full Turtle its a sight I will always remember
wow...thats crazy!! I had a old Bolens hydrostatic garden tractor where the previous owner foam filled the tires. They held up pretty nice for probably 20 years...then the sidewalls fell off. lol
I've got to do this on my rear scooter tire this week end this vid helps and I hope it will work, we'll find out soon enough 😂

use a ton of baby powder on the flat inner tube and inside the tire. it makes the process a lot smoother.
If you do drill another hole for the valve stem, make sure you deburr and smooth the edges so you don't encourage the inner tube to pop.

Great solution :-)
The cross tool is very handy, i still have mine that i bought in my teen days :-)

man your in pretty good shape man!
Good fix... Better than slime..in my opinion.
Great vid. Thank you!

Good stuff Mustie. That tractor is pretty cool. Flip project?
Good Job Sir!
wow that was a lot of work! only three left to go!
I tried using Flex Seal on my lawn tractor tires. My advice: DON'T DO IT! It's wonderful for gutters and windows, not so for tires. I tried the inner tube. Works great now.
Did the same thing last year on my tractor tire. Slime seems to work for just a short time.
i just wanna ask, is it safe to put a tube in a tubeless tire? will it work the same together with tubeless with a psi of 32?
I need that bead breaker! That rim is like a golf cart wheel, they're a bugger.
thats control, at last its just one brand, and hey glad l rank top 5,,
I like that bead breaker.
thats why it got a tube,,but at some point it will need tires
Harbor freight has a good deal on long tire irons. I bought a set and like them
does the slime work i have a little honda, dirt bike i put a new tube in rode it left the kids ride the end of the day still fully inflated next day flat again im thinking if the slime would work might try that somethings punchering the tube

My valve stem not sealed in the hole in the wheel. Leaks air around the stem. Any suggestions?
Good fix - NO SLIME!!
Good video.

is talcum powder needed for ware protection or no

Very helpful video. I think I'm going to find someone that I can pay to do this for me.
you had a mustie marathone, l like the tube if its a long term fix
very helpful. thank you.
how does the slime effect the rim?
good ideas
Thank-you. Putting the tire on a work area higher up would be better. I felt worn out watching you struggle with the tire on the ground.
hi , can i put a tube in tubeless tire of my honda activa scrooty...pls help me
how much are the tires for this?
Why did you even take one side of the tire off? Bead was broken. Push the tire down stuff it in and put the stem on the hole blow it up lol... 5 seconds later ready to mount.

Slime does not damage the new slime keeps rust gone.
Why would someone put a thumbs down on this video? Sad, sad, sad...
Oh, I almost forgot! FIRST poster!
$200 each
Good job but where were your SAFTY GLASSES? You should have known better than that.
BANG!
💯
guess someone likes slime better,,
highly unlikely those that have that equipment need inst on how to use.
gOOD'UN mUSTIE
Ken Tools makes an affordable set of tire tools, about $35. with shipping on Ebay.
Vice grips on the valve stem. That explains why my valve stem was all chewed up when I had the tire shop tube my tire.
There's a tool for that we use in the shop to remove lol.not vice grips
1puglife has one
You taken too long to change a tyre, to much fussing around & using the wrong tools to do it, why not get an expert to do it, pay to get it done.
