In this episode, we talked to former international drug smuggler, Chet Sandhu. Chet smuggled hundreds of thousands of pills across Europe in the 90s, paying off airport security with porn magazines. But he was eventually caught and did time in Europe’s most dangerous prison.

Small town in Tasmania. We got our first ‘ethnic’ family in the town in the late 90s. To fix the stereotype even more, they are Chinese who opened a Chinese restaurant. Mum and Dad changed their names to more Australian names and the boys to famous celebrity names to fit in. Of course they had the bogans rail on them hard and tbh they were very brave to move there. Their restaurant did and still does fantastic business! Oh and to make that stereotype stick even more, the kids were front of house and would do their homework at the same time. The eldest was pushed and is now a Dr!!! They certainly experienced racism to the nth degree and now are a staple in the community!

The feeling I get from Mr. Sandhu is one of a person who wants to love his family actively, but doesn't quite know how to, and needs help from those he loves to teach him or at least let him love them. But the damage his actions caused have made it such that they - especially his kids - won't afford him that chance, and that shit cuts him deep. The most visceral displays of pain he emotes always come when he speaks about the impact his actions have had on his loved ones.
If you read this Mr. Sandhu, please don't stop trying to reconcile. Don't stop displaying emotion when doing interviews, especially when you mention your kids. Let them know as often as you can that you're thinking about them, you regret what has happened, and that you love them regardless. So even if they can't forget or forgive you for what happened before, the fact that you're sorry and love them should also stay in the back of their minds, so that if or when they start to forgive or soften their stances towards you, they aren't unsure of how you feel about them.
    Keep on keeping on.

As a bloke in your 20's for a lot of us im sure you just act on impulse and going by how this lad was treated from his early years i can only imagine he wanted to make himself feel good and help his self worth!
Just took the wrong path in order to achieve that, thats all.
Just had to learn about that first the hard way,but now..
I hope for this chap that slowly but surely he can work on getting the trust back from his family members and enjoy the rest of his life like he wants to.

The guy is full of it. Nasty piece of work. Had nice hard working parents, but he wasnt happy. Wanted to be a big man, and didnt care how many people he had to hurt to get there. Belongs in prison.

Enjoyed this a lot. Not sure what the negative comments are about - a bit disappointing that he clearly still prefers a life of crime though. He could share his story and change the youth…

I like that they have honour to give each other a knife for a knife fight and not just knife someone who is unarmed but then at the same time get backstabbed by a nail

When you look at it, his first job was in a shop, then he sold roids, then it escalated from there. His employment history basically involves sales. Interesting bloke.

And how he says they think the streets are paved with gold is still going on today. When they get here they are so shamed they dare not tell people back home its a nightmare. They take selfies with all sorts of properties and cars and send them back to say look how we are doing. When they are prob homeless with nothing?
