I am a tube amp guy, and even my boost pedal is all tube from input to output, so I can put it in front of any MV amp and make it high gain without a single solid state gain stage in the chain between guitar and speaker. This is how I have always been, only for bass do I use solid state stuff for any application other than screwing around. That said, for a very compact solid state 1x12 combo, these cube amps are nice. I just wish the 15 and 30 watt models had 10 or 12 inch speakers.
Totally. This would be a great choice for band practice or small/medium gigs. If you need more volume, just mic it up and pump it through the band's PA system. The Cube 80Xl should give you plenty of stage volume. Feel free to contact me with any other questions or concerns. Thanks for watching! - Dave McCullough Kraft Music Marketing (800)783-3368
that is because its only the preamp (head) going into the computer, and the actual speaker sound is missing (due to no micing it up) so you could run it into your computer and use a cabinet simulation to get the speaker sound... If you have a Mac these are included in GarageBand, or if you have Windows you can download Reaper and get cab simulations for it... Hope that helps!
@Haddockxyz300 almost forgot, i have a marshall jcm 800 and a jtm 45, i'm a marshall freak. i have a mesa triple rect, a peavey 5150, randall warhead, 2 soldanos, couple fender tweeds, i built my own marshall clone jcm 800 and a trainwreck too. i have been exposed to some decent high dollar amps. this thing does not approximate a "warm tube amp" from a "tone freaks" point of view but it is my favorite solid state amp EVER. all their cube amps sound reasonably decent.
Hi, a few questions. Plenty of highs in the sound and the microphone in front the amp is not even near the center! What mic is that? Can i switch channel clean/distortion and switch solo on/off with the boss double footswitch? can i have completely independent presets with effects for each channel (clean/dist/solo)?
That's the on-board delay effect. Everything you hear in this video is from the amp. Feel free to contact me with any other questions or concerns. Thanks for watching! - Dave McCullough Kraft Music Marketing (800)783-3368
What kinds of problems were you having when using the ME25 with your Cube 80XL? I would think you'd want to bypass all of the amp simulation effects on the ME25 and use it primarily for delay, chorus, reverb, etc. Feel free to contact me with any questions you may have. - Dave McCullough Kraft Music Marketing (800)783-3368
I want to buy roland cube 80 xl for bedroom use and high school parties.. i saw an another video who was using some guitar pedals ,are they the only way to use it?
By the way, does the 80XL sound good on bedroom volume levels? i want an amp that i can play loudly and also at bedroom levels.. would this be a great choice?

Hey there, I was wondering what cabinet best fits this amp ? I am planning on buying it.
Why are the Cube amps, well cube shaped? Does it have to do with sound or just cosmetic issue. Because I also noticed a video from Roland on how its built, and the speaker is really, really protected, why is this?
I had went to guitar center and I was very disapointed that none cubes from 40xl on down had a line out jack. I only think the roland cube 80 and 60xl have a line out jack. Is that true? Because I dont want to spend my money if it doesnt have a line out jack

@vaton9 Pretty damn loud for something that isn't much bigger than a toaster... He did a demo of it when I saw him last year... I was way in the back and he cranked it... sounded great.. It'd hold up to rehearsals/small gigs judging by how much it puts out.
@nonamedg I think I have a good answer, The camera wouldn't be able to hear the amp as well as human would hear it. So if you want to get some good sound quality, head to a spot in your house which is fairly big and has a lot of empty space, for echoing. You'll hear it a lot better.
@nonamedg You'll probably want to plug a decent microphone into your audio interface and place the mic in front of the amp. I like the Shure SM57 and the new Beta 181 small diaphragm condenser mic. Feel free to contact me with any other questions or concerns. - Dave McCullough Kraft Music Marketing (800)783-3368
I'm definitely not a pro but I my opinion would be: Put everything at 12 o' clock, then you will probably adjust the bass just a little bit like at 2 o' clock. I would not scoop the mids so much as you get lost in a band environment. Maybe for classic metal you can scoop a little bit, but more mids sound better for a modern sound. Then the treble depends on your taste, but I would not move it too much from 12 o' clock
Is it only me that thinks the recording from amp to computer directly, doesnt give the same sound quality? what's recommended for recording, to get good quality sound?
@Haddockxyz300 hell yeah, you can play a 60 table gig (60' x 100' bar) easily with this amp on 6. if you line out to 2 4x12's you can really reach out there even further. this thing will blow you out of your living room on 4. i have one and it doesn't go past 2 unless i take it to the garage and the wife ain't home.
Absolutely. You'd get a ton of volume for practice levels and it would sound great. Feel free to contact me with any other questions or concerns. - Dave McCullough Kraft Music Marketing (800)783-3368

Seems like a cool dude and amazing playing. Great DEMO of this amp.
