Well, Russian Empire being a bad parent is actually a realistic explanation of why the USRR is a bad parent. Many children who are abused/neglected treat their own children the same way because they don’t know better. It’s a terrible cycle.

I as a descendant of people who lived in this presently nonexisting country and who can now see it's minuses and pluses objectively can affirm: USSR was not perfect indeed, especially in it's begining and end, but still, there's a lot of misinformation, in regards of the conceptions of "good" and "bad", and even more of the understanding of causes and consequences... I really hope someday people will look more deep into a subject and not only on the surface level, I also wish you had more sources of information than the ones you found. Also, the design is stereotipical, but the art is cool tho :D On the other hand, THANK YOU for being an adequate person and don't ship USSR and 3rd Reich, this ship is morally hedious, and I'm happy i'm not the only one in this fandom who thinks that way.

It can’t just be “okay, these two have a crush on each other now” I think it’s much better if they know each other before 1933. Unless they’re a kid at that time. Then it’s just no. The best way I’d present this ship if I was trying to convince someone is the Weimar=Third versions.
