Sorry about being a nerd but this has to be said:
The song "Little Girls" is not about pedophilia. It was was written as an attack on the culture in LA of older men in the entertainment industry always driving around in their convertibles and going to openings with girls on their arms who were barely in their 20s. The lyrics, which talk about the advantages one such man perceives in dating girls who are young enough to be his daughters, come to a climax when the character realizes that he's got himself in trouble as his latest little girl is in fact underage.

Something tells me this guy did not even see this comment. Also, he should listen to "who do you want to be" from their album "good for your soul" to get a better idea of what this band is really like. I am surprised so many people accuse Danny Elfman of being a pedophile when nirvana made a song about abducting and torturing a girl (the song "polly" from the album "nevermind") that was made to show what that kind of person was thinking. The same thing goes for "Bang Bang" by Green Day. I am also verry worried this song is why they don't seem to have any respect, all because people misinterpret the song because they lack the ability to notice when someone is being sarcastic. Well, I feel like I have gone on for far too long so i'm just going to stop typing.

I think the "Little Girls" song is basically trolling pedoes and showing how creepy they are. Oingo Boingo mocked a lot of counter culture stuff and were making fun of the creeps they were surrounded by in San Fran. Another good example of them using this mocking style is in their song Capitalism on the same album. They mock young socialists and call them idiots who've never done anything with their lives. Basically most of Oingo Boingo's music is satirical.
That being said, a good song or two of theirs to check out would be Dead Man's Party or their song Just Another Day.

  • @ELEcomments

Little Girls is a satirical song making fun of Hollywood stars in their 60s dating girls half their age. It's not actually about little girls don't worry lol. Oingo Boingo's songs tend to be dark and satirical. Danny Elfman (the guy singing) Is a very well renowned film composer too btw, he performed the themes for Tim Burton's movies, he was the singing voice for Jack Skellington, He performed the Men In Black Theme, the Batman Animated Series theme, as well as The Simpsons theme to name a few;p

I love this group for their hilarious lyrical takes on different types of people including this one. When recording their first album, they went to California. This is when they were first exposed to the very common sight of producers and “ artists” walking around with random girls or pressuring young girls who wanted to get into the business that they were “their way in”. The lyrics aren’t even explicitly in favour of pedophilia, as the words “isn’t this a nightmare too?” Is meant to suggest that mental illness or not, the perpetrators know what their doing to be WRONG, and do it anyway. Most music today requires no nuance to understand anyway, so I wouldn’t expect someone to look into it. In fact another song on the album makes a similar point. What you see, is not always what you get. Let me know if that one requires explanation too.

It's super obvious that based on Danny's inflection in "Little Girls" that it's a more caricature-like singing to convey its satire. Compare it to more sincere songs like "Stay" or "We Close Our Eyes" and you can hear the heavy styling on his part. It's not a declaration of being a Kevin Spacey, but rather a rebuking of it and its prevalence.

It's a criticism of the Epsteins of the world. This is the soundtrack composer Danny Elfman and guitarist Steve Bartek.

I think you took the Oingo Boingo song too seriously lol
It's a joke song that makes fun of pedophiles is all, it's supposed to come off as creepy but that is not his actual feelings, he's playing a character

I love Oingo Boingo, but I'm not a huge fan of their earlier, sillier, punkier stuff. Elfman is an amazing composer, but the music just doesn't appeal to me. I'm a bigger fan of the later stuff. If you want to check out something MUCH different than this, find Insanity from their Boingo album.
