I made something similar with ordinary kitchen matches and wax - I light them with a Bic lighter, it saves the lighter and they burn a good amount of time.
Just found your channel can't beleave as much survival channels I follow that tonight's the first time I ever seen a video come up from your channel as many videos that you have I thought your channel was a new channel I'm going to be sure to watch all your videos and wanted to say thanks for the content iv been looking for a match build like this for a while I do alot of winter camping and tired of having to carry a propane torch to be sure to have a fire in exstream cold wet areas
Welcome aboard! Great, thankful you found us! I did all my survival, preparedness kits utilizing the 10 seas of survival preparedness. I appreciate your feedback. Hope you enjoy please and subscribe if you enjoy our content.
Nice video. I like the titan UCO match and the cotton pads, which Appears better than using paper towels. I also saw a variation of this that included a piece of inner tube. It prolonged that burn time exponentially, not that yours wasn’t sufficient to start a fire. 👍👍
Great idea thank you for that. That would be a good compact packable way to always have a striker. I appreciate your comment and for watching please subscribe to our channel and give us a like if you enjoy our content. Thanks again.
Nice job Rick. I wonder if sandpaper would work as a striker? Also i saw on another channel someone recommended brushing nail polish on the smaller wood matches to water proof then. The wife is hiding her polish so i haven’t tried that yet LOL
Thanks for your ideas Bob. You are right I forgot about that you can coat match heads with fingernail polish to waterproof them. Not sure about sandpaper, it would have to be a real fine grit I imagine, not sure though?
Only if they're "strike anywhere" otherwise you need the special striker surface on the matchbook/box. It's coated with a special chemical that causes a reaction. And coating your match heads in nail polish is just going to gunk up the striker and make it not work.
There are sveral brands of strike anywhere stormproof matches on the market and you can make your own with kitchen matches, ring caps for toy cap guns, a few drops of wood glue and some wax. Maybe do a little Google search and learn something
Roger that, I am aware. That is what I guess I meant to say. Thanks for your clarification and for watching! Please like and subscribe to our channel if you enjoy our content.
@@LifeintheNorth40 I have I want to learn all I can. I am a older disabled vet I want to come t with ole friend I served with. At least that's our plan lol . Wish us luck brother 73s
Way too much fluff. Thank goodness for the 10 second jumps. Almost the same steps taught in Joshua Enyart's vid 5 years earlier. Only diff is the order of the painters tape. Strike those on anything you want other than the striker pad, and it won't ignite. The striker pad contains red phosphorus and is required to ignite the match.
Cool, ya I believe I state in the video you need a striker. Thanks for your comment and for watching. Please like and subscribe if you enjoy our content.

Thanks for your feedback and comments! Wow, I didn't know about the inner tube idea, that sounds interesting and like something I need to test.
Liked the video. Informative and educational. Good item to have in hunting pack or on person.
Yes sir! Thanks for your support and faithful comments. This thing is invaluable for fire starting.
Emery cloth may work as a striker.

Uh good job but insted of using taper to keep the matches stick together, you could use a
constricter knot by a tnin cotton rope .

"Containerised" 😁 No,strike on box only matches have a chemical embedded in the striker surface needed for the head to ignite.

You can light a book match on a mirro . It takes time to learn it work. Pressure on the match rack mirror fast😢

This is overkill and a good way to burn your hands.
Ha, not even close. Totally manageable and highly effective!
